  1. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== Always an adventure participating in the LOC. Had one hit on the dipsay friday, the same snap swivel that landed many cayuga lakers caved in to the first hit on lake O and it was over before we knew what happened. The O ring on the swival broke so all we had left was the dipsy and the snubber. Yes I had the drag set light enough to hear the occasional click, mean fish. Saturday was what I would say "Xtreme" wave fishing. At the end of the day I passed a coast guard boarding so I guess thats woth something? That and a small Coho to get rid of the skunk. Today, tryiing to figure out how to get back as the long range weather looks good. Good luck to all. 2. I just got back from Gander Mountain JC NY and they had Cutbait. Not familiar with the brand, out of Florida but it was Herring in strips or whole, VHS free with paper work. They did not have much but apparently just came in.
  3. NameMike: Location:Endicott, NY Home PortCayuga: Boat Name/TypeMyKey: I fish for:salmomiods ================== Hello all This forem continues to Amaze me! Fishing is in my blood but thru this site I have re-newed the passion. My boat is like a transformer as its a typical looking 21.5 cuddy pleasure boat butI can get out 5 rods not couting cheaters.I also use a 1971 tru hull for early season called Da-Tank that seems to never quit running. The information shared here has without a doubt put me into more fish than I would ever have imagined. If my experiences look worthy I try to post but I am in sponge mode absorbing more than anything. My job has me running all over the North East but trolling time is my downtime and I can't get enough. Thanks to all for your contrabutions and look forward to everyones contrabution. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  4. Thanks to all for clarifiying. Here is a picture in case anyone wanted to see it.
  5. Brang in a nice fish this morning on Cayuga. Hit a sliding cheater around 35 feet. I would say its a rainbow but the bottom jaw is hooked like a brown I wish the camera worked on my BB cause I would post a picture. The fish jumped like a bow and was very pink on its sides. Lost a big fish had two releases before this fish, not bad for a quick hour n half fishing. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  6. Thanks for the reports as I was out there myself on 8/1 north of Long point. We picked up a nice 8llb laker on the wire out about 218 not more than 10 minutes after getting set up. It was good enough for 4th at the Bass Pro tourmament, 2 carp and a channel cat beat it for biggest fish. Took that as a good sign but only managed 2 dinks on the wire rest of the morning. The weeds were thick as you rounded the point and took us out of business once. The fleas seemed managable though. Wish I knew what all those fish and bait were around 20-30 feet? Showed up alot in around 80-100 fow but never got a hit on anything tried. Marked very few fish that were deep.
  7. My lucky fishing partner landed this nice fat 25 inch Bow. Great fight with good air time. She was loaded with eggs, not sure if this is normal? Am looking forward to the red cross derby but...once we started targeting Lakers ont the West side can you say flea fest? The 30lb line was the first I dragged in. Took about 15 minutes to clean, the wire no better. The 17lb, cut it off. The infested area was around deans cove.
  8. Guess I was way overthunk that one. Thanks, always thought it would be nice to get the presentation away from that big underwater flying saucer for spooky fish. On the way to Gander now!
  9. Can anyone decribe how to set up a slide diver? I am familiar with wire Dipsy set ups but not sure I understand the "slide" and how you apply it.
  10. Hey Chowder good to hear some fish are on. How are the weeds and I hate to use the word fleas? You think we are good to go before they invade us? I'm stressing on set up for the derby cause work is threating to spoil my pre-fish normal week off 4th vacation.
  11. All, Thanks for all the help. I have several options now.
  12. Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase this cowbell set up? I have used this exact rig for the last couple of years but it was my fishing partners. He is not able to fish much anymore and I really want one of my own as it was a very effective lake trout set up.
  13. The wire is mason 7 strand set up on a Large Dipsy so it was around 75 deep.
  14. Got of eraly this morning and starting to think Friday morning is the best day to fish. Too bad work gets in the way most times. Lakers were hitting White SD/White Fly out 220-240 on wire. Salmon and Rainbows were hitting in 60 foot of water on cheaters and a junk line using a torpedoe diver(think thats what its called?) Both applications workeding in 20 foot of water using eveil eye black/purple, silver/black. The good Rainbow was around 6lbs and put on quite an arial display.
  15. Very Nice fish. Did you get the Bow on the Stinger as well? Burining the midnight oil to try and free up this Friday myself. Fished Saturday on the North End and worked hard for a couple of dink rainbows and one decent Laker. Laker came on wire, white SD/White fly out 150' in 135 FOW.
  16. Had a meeting cancled Friday so decided to play Hook-e at the lake. Cold but calm morning. Borrowed my Dad's board set up and wanted to give them a shot as I mostly down-rig. Well had my first Brown on by 6:20am just starting out, nice colored fish about 7 lbs. Managed to land a salmon and Laker between several pickeral. Not great action but fun playing with the boards. I thought all I need is a Rainbow to complete the targeted species. 10 minutes later the lone downrigger finally fired with a HUGE Hit, ripping drag imediately. Had to hit nuetral and let the boards wander all over as this fish was big. As it got closer the silver fash was unmistakeable, its not a Laker! My heart was pumpin as I started winning the battle. The lake Gods were bieing kind to me as this my birthday was Sunday and rewarded me with a Rainbow over 29 inches and on my scale was between 10- 11 lbs. As a tribute to retiring the old boat I fish on this one is being mounted. The guy called it a steelie? Fished on Sunday to break the new boat in and did a nice salmon and a good Laker. The laker hit a cheater down no more than 15 feet. Action is slow but quality fish! Did see tons of bait and fish on the screen but all under 60 feet or less.
  17. I wanted to applaud the the Charter Boat who picked up the man overboard last Saturday afternoon just East of Oswego. I was the guy in the pleasure/fishing boat that helped out the mans 11 yr old daughter while you rescued her dad. All I can say is it sure was easy for me once I heard you tell the Coast Guard you had retrieved the guy and he was okay. That was all I needed to tell his daughter and she was fine. I tried to call you but it appears my radio could only listen and not transmitt but am glad it all worked out okay. BTW - that fishing boat was all I caught the whole day, tough fishing!
