  1. From under my Hanukkah bush I wish all you good fishermen and women and your families a merry and blessed Christmas and a happy and fruitful new year. May the fish gods and whatever other gods you pray to bring you fortitude and happiness.

Remember , when you are out on that water, Let the troubles you have fade away and open your hearts to the beauty and peace around you. the fish is mostly a happy distraction.

Bring the peace back home and your new year will be the better for it!

As for democrat and republicans, All democrats love this republic and all republicans love democracy. So lets all work together this year to make a better democratic republic

Back in the 80"s my brother snagged one in the tail off the river while combat fishing.  Took quite a while to get it in.  He threw that silver bullet into the bilge & vowed to never use it again.

If the fish barriers in Chicago don't hold up, you may have to dig that silver bullet up again. because if those carp over there break through, it may be the only game in town.

Let's all say a little prayer to ,whatever gods you pray to, that that never happens

  3. I was just rereading a chapter in “Another lousy day in paradise” and John Gierach describes, tongue in cheek, how he participated in a fly fishing tournament for carp. This reminded me of the 1970s fishing under the bridge at the I-Bay inlet catching big brown trout and monster sized carp.

I sometimes go to the Seneca River at Montezuma in early April as the river wakes up and catch a carp or two just to get winter out of my head, but the monster carp entering I-Bay always seem to be the biggest.
Does anyone fish those these days?

  4. Thanks for the hint. I am an active member on the i-boats board and get some info from there.

As for facebook, I don't want Mark Zuckerberg to know when I wake up and go to bed , so I am not active on facebook.

  5. I am currently rebuilding a 1989 221 Starcraft Islander. So far I replaced the transom, the foam, the floor and the engine (4.3 liter 6). With winter closing in, It is time to gather more materials so when the weather gets nice in spring I can get a good start. So far I got replacement wiring, electric brakes for the trailerand a nice junction box for the trailer wiring connection to the towing vehicle. Windshield wiper motors for the front and two 1100gph bilge pumps. For sonar and chart plotting, I got a Furuno 588 with a TM260 transducer for deep water trolling and a Garmin Echomap UHD 64CV chirp fishfinder with transducer for shallow water and chart plotting. That should get me off to a good start in early spring.

I do need a port side window for the cabin and so far I have not found any. Does anybody know where to find one or have one made?

Come spring I will sell my 19 foot islnder with a brand new engine and furuno fish finder. So if you are interested, send me a pm.

  6. When I first changed to a mercruiser I went to Bryce for service parts like filters, seals and impellers. I was treated as if I was some sort of nuisance. They are not the only game in town. There is for instance
West Marine where Rob, the manager, will always try to help you with parts and a friendly word.

Aluminum can be welded. That's how Crestliner boats are manufactured. I can't remember if its TIG or MIG but most welding shops will know. I have no idea how much they will want to charge you. It may be cheaper to buy a new one, but it won't hurt to inquire.

The problem with happy troller aluminum ii that it is not just a clean break which can be welded. It is that the metal is weakened by bending and stretching lots of times. The aluminum gets to be (what I like to call) tired and weakened in the bend and/or break area. A large zigzag weld could possibly fix the problem, but the bending would just start happening on a different spot-quite possibly- on the outboard because very possibly, the happy troller is now stronger than the place where the bolts go through the outboard while the force pushing against the troller will remain the same. The happy troller is deliberately made fairly weak just because of that risk.

  8. Right, throw it away. You should either get trolling bags or a little 9.9 kicker.

If you really want to use your happy troller and you want to fix yours, you should get 4pieces of aluminum 1/8 inch thick by 3 inches wide about 3/4 the length of the plate(vertical) and put two on each side. Drill holes through the plate and the strips, bolt them together and fortify it that way. Or you can swing by my place in Brighton and pick up another happy troller plate for free. it is only very slightly damaged and still quite usable. Pm me if you are interested.

I'm not sure about using one of these to try and stop my dog from keeping barking after I tell her to stop but i am thinking about trying it. i have a small Maltese dog and need to know if the collar will work on a 10# dog? if it will work on my small dog I will give it a try if you'll take 90.00 and then pay to ship it to me?

It looks like the collar weighs like 2 pounds. Chances are that one zap will leave your tiny dog unconscious or worse

And this is how we got Obama care, Pelosi said "just pass it we'll read it later" Great left wing moon bat mentality!!!

Wrong. Obama care could have been a lot better. When it was first brought to the house , it was not really perfect, but quite good for most of the people. It was on its way to a vote in the senate when senator Ted Kennedy died and with him the 60 senators mayority needed to make it filibuster proof. At that point Obama care got hacked up and neutered by the senators who are beholden to the big healthcare lobby. The end result was less than perfect, but I have not yet found anybody does not like being able to keep their kids on the insurance until they are 26 years old and the fact that no insurance company can refuse any clients with pre-existing health issues.

Obama care became the way it is now as a result of two different lobbies fighting each other and having to compromise every step of the way.

  11. Hb2,

Presidents do make laws in 2 ways. They can give executive orders and although they are not laws as such, they might as well be, and they have to sign off on every law that passes congress which they may or may not do.

As for who makes laws. Usually a special interest group -lobby- convinces a member of congress that a certain law should be proposed and after that has been done, the lobbyists write that law being very careful to write 2000 or more pages to make sure that nobody will read the small print in which any and all special desires of the special interest group are satisfied.

When that is all done some member of congress claims to have proposed and written the law and the lobby will reward him with bigger donations while the special interest group represented by this lobbyist will get a lot richer.

  12. It is really sad to hear all the talk about crime, mostly because according to the feds, crime has gone down. The GOP brought crime to the election only after they realized the enormous influence that the abortion issue brought to the polls.

As for the bail issue. At no point in time were violent crime suspects let go without having to put up bail.

Release without paying bail is there for those innocent until proven guilty, so those who cannot afford bail don’t have to spend several months in jail until their case comes to court. This enables them to work and provide for their dependents. Until now their only alternative to waiting in jail, was pleading guilty and get out without doing time, but now with a criminal record that haunts them for the rest of their lives even if they were innocent to begin with. Nothing is simple if you are poor, because the system is rigged against you.

COUNTIES WON BY ZELDIN = 49
COUNTIES WON BY HOCHUL = 13

    WINNER = HOCHUL

    our system is broken

You see the 49 counties are mostly populated with bears, coyotes and raccoons. If you give them voting rights you would win elections, but you have to stop hunting or you will lose the elections again.

Also in most democracies the idea of voting is roughly based on the idea of "one man (person) one vote". Not "one acre one vote."

  14. The Evinrude  28 ,30 and 35  2 strokes all have the same weight and engine block. If you want stay traditional you should go up to the 1958  engine because this engine already has a fuel pump which solves the problem of a pressurized fuel tank. ( these engine are available  as are the spare parts) In those days, the horse power was measured at the drive shaft, not the propeller.that only changed in 1986. So if it says 30 horse you should read 28 horse for a newer engine.

Modern 4 strokes weigh a lot more than the old two strokes and they have a lot more torque. If you choose to go that way you should not go over 20 horse.

I had to get gas for the tractor for setup for winter so I went with non-ethanol $4.46 a gallon then I noticed diesel was 580 a gallon. Home heat giong to a bit.h then I went and voted at the fire house . I voted straight Republican and the question on the back for the Clean Air Act Bob lonsberry told me to vote no. that it's more Democrat green energy bull*****

Sent from my SM-A125U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

It s a good thing that you voted no matter whom you voted for.

By the way it is the big oil companies deliberately keeping oil production down so they can charge higher prices and work less. Maybe you should inform your buddy Lonsberry of that pesky little fact.

Is this Bob lonsberry of yours the same same Bob who got fired from Wham radio station for calling  ex mayor Johnson of Rochester an Orang Utan and a monkey? It sounds like he may be a bit prejudiced.

  16. I did do early voting. It is just so much more pleasant. So far the only thing that ticked me off about this election is being texted all the time by someone calling me Thomas (unbeliever?) telling me to go vote republican to save the Christian nation.

Just remember that whoever wins will have to represent all of us.

anyway, unlike some politicians would like us to believe, the soup is never eaten as hot as it is served.

    Peace.
