Orleans Open Deadline Today
dreamsteelie posted a topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
Registration deadline for this years event is Monday June 7th at midnight. This event is part of the US lake cup, so if you are fishing the Niagara Pro Am and Sodus Pro Am this is the third event in the series. You can register here: http://greatlakesspecialevents.com/orleansopen.html -
Year #4 for this event has begun. Only DII will be occurring this year again due to the lack of tournaments across Lake O. Next year, we hope to resume DI again. Congratulations to Oh Baby and Captain Matt LeClair for winning DII last year. This years event will be sponsored by Dreamweaver Lures and FishUSA. (Thank you to both Companies) and run by the GLSE. There is no cost to anyone and we keep track of scores to award a winner and runner up. Teams must participate in 3 events are needed to qualify. We take your best 3 scores at year end to determine the winners. The listed events on the board will be amended as some events may not occur in 2021. The CND events are out for 2021. Some are asking why we are doing this? Main reason is to keep some form of excitement, interest and fusing of all of the larger tournament events on Lake O. COVID-19 hampered D1 in 2020 and 2021 but we hope to open up paid registrations or D1 in 2022. We also hope to grow the $$ and sponsorship over time. Anyone who would like to offer sponsorship in cash and or prizes can certainly message me and we can increase this to possible 3 or 4 payouts at year end? http://greatlakesspecialevents.com/locsdivII.html http://greatlakesspecialevents.com/forms/2021LOCSD2.pdf Thank You Vision Quest

calcutta administrative fee
dreamsteelie replied to hillbilly71's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
Silver Fox-OK and thanks for clarifying Hillbilly- In order to cover costs and make it worth doing, the admin fees on just the entry fees was not enough... Last year, there were 16 or 17 teams and the expenses were the same=loser. This year, the entries were about double. Again, it was advertised clearly at 10% admin fees not knowing just how many teams would enter ANY of the offered venues and "if" there would even be a break even point. Since there was a good turnout in all categories, the admin fee was dropped to 5%. Excerpt from WHI web page. Note word voluntary. " Also, there will be a voluntary $500 Captain's bet each day with payment due at time of registration. 10% of all entries will go toward the administration of the event, lie detector tests and monitoring of the enforcement of rules." If you or anyone else wants to handle the captains bet in 2022, then contact us. You/they can be responsible to advertise it, accept, account for, and safekeep $15,000 and accept responsibility for that in the event something happens. By keeping it in the event, there is a guarantee that kind of $$ is accounted for and guaranteed. The WHI event was very transparent. So-if that 5% is worth it, go for it. Keep in mind that the entry fees may need to be increased somewhat to help pay the tourney fees and that added money would be 1099 income VS the way it was handled this year. 5% admin VS 1099 ? Last year, as you mentioned, it was run through the web site and paid out as 1099 income. 5% VS 1099 income. Make the call. Another item to consider, the WHI nixed the observer rule. Most teams pay $100 day for that service. That $ stayed in teams pocket again this year. But we paid the LD test examiner as an offset. More to chew on. I understand your simple point but there's a bigger pic here. Vision Quest -
calcutta administrative fee
dreamsteelie replied to hillbilly71's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
Hillbilly and SilverFox, Did either of you fish it? The registration forms and rules were very transparent on the admin fees (which were reduced). They were made transparent so there was no BS or accusations. So anyone who participated KNEW EXACTLY what was up and agreed to it when they checked the LITTLE BOX. If they didnt, they should have not entered that. There was no greed involved and taking shots at tournaments without fully understanding things ALSO ruins tournaments. These are a PIA to organize, manage, maintain websites, insure and accept liability for, etc.. The XXXXXX which was collected had a grand total of $750 in admin fees which also went to the events expenses such as, lie detector service, helpers, tourney director and assistant, the faux checks, website, etc and on and on... This was not a typical cash side bet where someone steps up and volunteers to handle it. It was part of the event NOT a dock bet. The event also rounded out higher payouts, topped off the 1K which should have paid $617.00 per day NOT $1,000. If the event was greedy, it would have stuck to the $617 pro rated because not enough teams entered to pay $1,000. $1,000 was paid. How about an AMEN for that boys???? Do you buy gas knowing there's a tax on it? YUP.... Go to work knowing uncle sams gonna slam you for 20-30%, etc... YUP... Why?? We know why. These events take time, money and a lot of effort to orchestrate. Dont spoil it by complaining about something you don't fully understand. Seems like your trying to start something here, to prove a point or gain sides about a pretty well run and fun event ! Vision Quest -
Wilson weight station
dreamsteelie replied to scobar's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
Yes. Wilson gas Shack. Pull up to the fuel dock. There is usually someone there or in vicinity between 9am and 6pm -
Just a reminder, Reg deadline is one week before event. There are 20 teams registered so far for the WHI. Teams NOT participating can still enter the week long trout and salmon slam (weigh 5 salmon 2 trout during course of week) and or the 1K a Day (week long also) See site for registration and information. Reminder: teams that enter the WHI are NOT automatically included in the 1K a Day. http://greatlakesspecialevents.com/whi.html

2021 Pro-Am Niagara site now live
dreamsteelie replied to Tourneygirl's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
Thanks Penny, Team VQ is in X 2 boats this year. We all appreciate the event and efforts. See ya there Captain Pete -
My friends were using WS for a few years and would constantly tease me about my unwillingness to try it. So they brought a few rods on the VQ VI for me to try. I converted totally to WS in 2020. The positives outweigh the negatives. It unspools like leadcore which means far fewer birds nests, in the event of tangles, it is wayyyyyyy more forgiving when untangling and does not twist like copper(copper is near fatal on tangles) , I never retied my terminal ends all year because the steel VS copper does not get as brittle and fall(strands break) apart at the connections (ZERO breakoffs in 2020) I could not say this with copper, and it comes pre weathered (camo brown) VS the new bright shiny copper(which takes a little while to patina). Disadvantages: little more pricey but I feel over time you will recoup that considering longjevity and redo's with copper and less break offs, inability to cut and splice repair on the fly when needed and the terminal connections may be slightly more time consuming but..... they are long lasting, so.... I may have missed a couple more but those few key items that converted me. BTW, I hate long lines but they are a needed part of one's program. I never messed with adding wire line (19-strand) as a backer BUT have invested in the torpedo weights of varying sizes to add to the front end where my leader is, to instantly and easily add weight to alter my depths. I am not a Voodoo guy, BUT I am convinced I catch more fish with that Torpedo weight added to my set ups. It may create more noise, bubbles or alter the angle of the offering but..... LOL, foood for thought. We have been using add on weights since 1990 on Lake Erie to follow walleyes down as the season goes and they move deeper in the water column. What we have found is that by adding 1 OZ, your offering obtains another 4 ft of depth (when attached at the leader end of leadcore or copper or WS) Trolling 2.2-2.5 ishhhh... We would make our 5 cores into 7 cores by simply attaching 2 OZ on the front end (as an example) Captain Pete VQ

Wilson Harbor Tourney 2021
dreamsteelie replied to dreamsteelie's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
erihick, The site page is being redone. It was hacked. However, the revised rules and site will be done this month and posted. The only major change than what was listed above is a $400 entry fee each day and a $200 entry fee for the overall. So 1K total to get it all events inc overall. Also, there will be an "optional" captains bet (each day), payable at time of Reg on site Friday. The 1K (prorated) and Trout/Salmon Slam will happen the week up to the WHI. (same as last year) Deadline to enter will be (1) week with $200 late fee accepted on Friday for late comers. Thank You
