  1. Lake O Championship Concludes Excerpt: http://www.greatlakesspecialevents.com/blog.htmlAgain, the GLSE would like to thank this years sponsors: Dreamweaver, Fish Hawk, Northwest Savings Bank, Shark Cannonballs and the Wilson Boat Yard. The 1st annual GLSE Lake Ontario Championship Series has concluded for 2017 and as predicted, went down to the last event. Team Vision Quest needed to place 4th place or higher in order to win and did just that by winning the Fall King of The Lake event held in Canada this past weekend. Team VQ entered that last event as their "second chance" event and it paid off. Runner up was Team A-TOM-MIK/CBII who maintained the lead most of the summer. They will receive a check also for this years series.Congratulations to Team VQ and Tom Allen's A-TOM-MIK team.Look for updates and announcements this off season and look forward to next years 2nd annual series.http://www.greatlakesspecialevents.com/index.htmlCaptain Pete

  3. Great Lakes Special Events-Lake O Championship Series Update Excerpt: (click link for full blog info) http://www.greatlakesspecialevents.com/blog.html 8/11/17: King of Kings Summer Shoot Out concludes and congratulations goes out to Team Diabolical from Michigan for the big win. The only teams participating in this one were: Yankee Troller, Thrillseeker and Fast Lane.... Yankee picked up the pace in the overall by placing 6th and earning 90 points. That has helped him move into 2nd place, just 7 points behind Team CBII/A-TOM-MIK. Teams Thillseeker and Fastlane did not place high enough to make a difference. Next event on the tour is the A-TOM-MIK Invitational. Let's see if any teams can make a move in this event being held in Oswego, NY. Those participating teams include: CBII/A-TOM-MIK, Cannonball Runner and Thrillseeker. 8/22/17: The A-TOM-MIK invitational is in the books and congratulations goes out to Oh' Baby for winning the event. Team Thrillseeker was the only team of the 3 that had stakes in it that made a move by using that score. Team Thrillseeker placed 6th and earned 90 points. Cannonball and BCII only earned 54 and 56 points, which did not advance them. At the end of this one, the scores remain unchanged and CBII/A-TOM-MIK and Yankee Troller hold the 1st place and runner up positions. The fall KOTL is the last event in the series. And as predicted, will come down to this event. Team Vision Quest is going all in with their second chance , while Yankee and Fast Lane are already entered in these events. As we see it, if Yankee finishes 8th place or higher they replace CBII and if VQ finishes 4th or higher, they replace CBII (unofficially) as well which means ultimately, it may be between these three teams for the overall championship and runner up position. It will be an exciting finish and CBII/A-TOM-MIK will be watching anxiously from Oswego for the final scores to come in on September 3rd. Good luck to everyone. Again, the GLSE would like to thank this years sponsors: Dreamweaver, Fish Hawk, Northwest Savings Bank, Shark Cannonballs and the Wilson Boat Yard. Stay tuned.... 5. Riggers and diver blow back can be inaccurate !!!! When fishing in a strong deep down current, your riggers down there can be fast or really slow while your higher divers look PERFECT. They are running in two differnt worlds and judging how ones cables look or wire divers look may not be the same as your other gear and thats a fact, esp. when fishing the river currents west. Often your divers may look limp and your down speed on a rigger ball may be right.... Or vice versa. Lake O is a challenge and so is fishing, so the more variables you can tap into or eliminate will help your overall experience and success. The items being mentioned in this post all help that cause, unfortunately, they all cost $$ lol... Capt. Pete Vision Quest
  6. Great Lakes Special Events Overall Championship Update Excerpt from BLOG section: 7/18/17: Sodus Pro Am concludes and congratulations goes out to Cold Steel/Dirty Goose for their win. They were not competing in the Overall but Teams: Thrillseeker took 5th, Cannonball Runner 6th and Team A-TOM-MIK/CBII took 9th. That ended in some turnover in the overall standings because the east end teams have now hit their 3rd event. Team A-TOM-MIK/CBII takes over the no. 1 spot, while Cannonball Runner moves to the runner up position, just (1) point ahead of Vision Quest. All of the teams except Thrillseeker have their "second chance" left and MUST enter that before midnight of the event they wish to claim as second chance. Yankee Troller which started with a 1st place win in April still has (2) left and his second chance, so as stated above, it will go down to the last event here. Stay tuned.... Captain Pete http://greatlakesspecialevents.com/locs.html http://greatlakesspecialevents.com/locsstandings.html
  7. I would rather leave my boat at the dock than not have my hawk. Not knowing what/where to start below and how, my speed actually is after having one for years would S _ _K . GENERAL suggestions: Wise investment and always retie your rigger terminal and test it with a weight before putting your brand new probe on the first time after redoing the terminal end. Don't let the new guys bring your probe up either and you attach it in the am and detach after. Keep a spare probe, breakaway and batteries. If you can afford it. For big boats maybe?: I also have two transducers mounted, one as a spare. Cheaper than lifting a big boat out to replace one, no hassle, plus its a back up. Came in handy last week when my original one quit working for some reason. I fired up the other transducer and presto. Back in the game. Capt. Pete Vision Quest
  8. June King of Kings Tight Lines Results Team Vision Quest took 3rd and friends Mother Moose took 6th (Erie-Pa/Wilson, NY boats) Last Saturdays Results from Toronto.
  9. Lake O Championship Updated Standings 5/23/17: Congratulations to Team Screamer for taking this years Niagara Pro Am. Dave was fishing with an all star team consisting of guys from Oswego, where they know how to grind. They did not have to grind here and boxed out early during the two tournament days. One day was cancelled due to strong NE winds (good call Penny-Niagara tourney director). Dave opted out of this years LOCS but two back to back high finishes would have put him in a great position for this years event. Team Vision Quest finished the best overall for teams in this years LOCS by taking 4th place in the Niagara and it put them in an early 1st place position with 7 more events to go. Welcome Team Thrillseeker to the LOCS 2017. Next event will be the Oak Orchard Open, always a good event with a lot of participation. There is still plenty of time for teams to get in on this years overall championship with 7 events remaining http://www.greatlakesspecialevents.com/blog.html http://www.greatlakesspecialevents.com/locs.html
  10. Lake O Championship Series Current Standings http://www.greatlakesspecialevents.com/locsstandings.html Hers is the link to the current standings through 2 of the 10 events. Still plenty of time for more teams to enter, esp for the Canadian events, west enders doing the Canadian events and the east end events. Congrats to the A TOM MIK Man Tom Allen and his TEAM on his WHI win this past Saturday !
  11. Lake Ontario Championship Series deadline reminder Just a reminder for those teams considering entering this event in 2017: The deadline to register is midnight before the Wilson Harbor Invitational, if looking to use the spring KOTL event or Wilson Harbor scores. Otherwise one can enter after but not just use those 2 events. Next event is the Niagara Pro AM. Great Lakes Special Events is introducing a new Lake Ontario lake wide championship series that US and Canadian anglers can participate in. It involves 10 of the largest tourneys on Lake. Our intention is to make this the premiere Championship series on Lake O. The website contains all of the details and registration is on line. Captain Rich Hajecki will be fielding questions on the forums and will be releasing a FB page any day. http://greatlakesspecialevents.com/locs.html The LOCS puts emphasis on all major events held in Canada and the USA. Our goal is to obtain participation from both Canadian and US fishing teams and create a true Lake wide championship series. *Because this Championship Series was presented in April, all teams will have the option to use the Spring KOTL event scores upon registration. However, if you want to use scores from that event, you must register it prior to Friday at midnight before the Wilson Harbor event. After midnight, teams will NOT be able to use the spring KOTL scores. The Basics... Each team pre-chooses (3) to (5) events in which to earn points from. Teams can choose any tournament included in the series circuit. Each team will use their best (3) events from the (5) possible. Each team is allowed (1) late entry event specifically designed to allow a competitive team the opportunity to swap one event for their "late pick". The "second chance" option is sure to provide additional excitement in the series. Entry Fee: $100 per event. (must choose 3-5)Second Chance Fee: $150 Awards. Overall Winner: 70% Runner Up: 30%The winning team will receive dinner at the port of their choice, hosted by GLSE. During dinner, they will receive their check, trophies and misc prizes.

  13. Pap, Its all interesting, not perfect but its CHANGE that is overdue and needed. Time will tell for sure. Early indications are looking good for voting his way. The liberal media all said he was going to hurt the market (wrong) and its improved (best in 8 years) since he was elected. Without argument and one can say what the reasons are or are not HIM but it does not change the results. It certaibly was not our past Prez...Obama cried for years that he inherited a BUSH disaster.. Remember.. He used that line a LOT as well as the dems. Well TRUMP inherited a bad situation and it turned around within days. It was HIM that created the reasons for markets resurgence. Regarding tax returns.. Why would he want to? just so the press could bust his stones more and btw, Its a moot point. Knowing the guy, the more the PRESS demands something, the more entrenched TRUMP will play the game and resist. I cant blame him and will it change anything? Capt Pete
  14. Loving it all fellas.. Stocks closed at all-time highs Wednesday after a series of executive orders from President Donald Trump increased bullish sentiment on Wall Street, while financials outperformed. "People are seeing that the administration is carrying through with some of the things they promised," said John Stadtler, the head of U.S. Financial Services Industry Practice at PwC. "It looks like long-term capital gains are here to stay." The TRUMP train is a rolling..... Madonna and her peers you're losing, we're winning ! Capt. Pete
  15. Trump is trying to get things under control. If your dogs leash is set to 200 ft. and your letting him wander and have no control or cant even see him, the best way is to "reel" him in until you can. Hes not killing the dog... He just nixed Planned Parenthood overseas-500 million a year going overseas for mostly abortions. Ended. Good example of positive change. 'President Donald Trump today signed an executive order to defund International Planned Parenthood. Most pro-life Americans are anxiously awaiting Congress to pass a bill to defund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. While that defunding legislation concerns the domestic-based Planned Parenthood abortion corporation, President Trump has the ability to put in place an executive order that would revoke funding for its International affiliate.' When pro-abortion former President Barack Obama took office, Obama overturned a policy that prevented funding of groups that promote or perform abortions overseas. The Mexico City Policy covered over $400 million in federal funds, part of which flowed to the abortion businesses International Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes International for their foreign efforts. Today it was announced the wall will be built. WASHINGTON — President Trump on Wednesday will order the construction of a Mexican border wall — the first in a series of actions this week to crack down on immigrants and bolster national security, including slashing the number of refugees who can resettle in the United States and blocking Syrians and others from “terror prone” nations from entering, at least temporarily." Whaler1=good summary Game on at the White House Capt. Pete
  16. As VP said-The best choice won ! Personally, if he was a Demmy, I would have rolled his way. He's outside of the typical political mold, fresh, successful and most importantly=he wants to WIN for America and for himself. I will put that mentality against anyone as long as they use that "drive" properly. FACTS: look at what he has accomplished before even taking office... Hes a tireless machine of DOING and wants to win-His ego wont allow failure ! FACTS: the stock market/investments went up overall FACTS: look at what X Prez Obama die before departing... Stirred the pot, gave political jabs, released 1,745 prisoners with Presidential pardons (I am sure some deserved but a SLAP in the face to judges, police and law enforcement in general) and today it was announced-he gave $221,000,000 to the Palestinians despite opposition. BTW, he did that on January 20th. Real cool-Yep-add it to the trillions were in debt. FACT: who would you rather send to deal with ruthless leaders, HRC or TRUMP ? FACT: Prez Trump is egotistical, competitive, hates to lose, controversial, and sometimes UN presidential... NONE of them are perfect but I would rather him than the traditional BS and the controversial Clinton Machine which BTW-DISGRACED "our" White house with Bill's acts. The RACE card: more media driven than anything.... The Republicans did NOTHING like what the sore A _ _ ;losers did in terms of protests, rioting etc.. CLASSLESS... and then there's the OUT OF REALITY pop stars and actors-give me a break... Many of them showed their true color. Sanctuary cities? another disgrace. I vote to make the State of California a sanctuary State and send them all there, hell, its filled with Actors and Pop "tarts" already. Another overlooked item: Vice-Prez Mike Pence is an unbelievable VP choice-class-clean record and dedicated military and politician. Like a fishing season... Time will Tell...... Its way to early... Capt. Pete
  17. We were able to obtain an observer for the event. Thanks, Capt,. Pete www.visionquestfishing.com see us on FB

  19. Rich, Good or tough (I never say bad because fishing is fishing and no guarantees), you tell it like it was ! Respect that a lot from you.. Save a few toad LT's for me this weekend at the Oak Orchard Open ! Great start to the tourney season BTW... Capt. Pete www.visionquestfishing.com See us on Facebook

  21. Hi Matt, Can you clarify the two boat mention.... I would like to fish my boat out of Wilson for the Niagara and may possibly fish off two other boats at east end. My team name will be constant and I will be listed as Captain and fish all events. Why does it matter whether its one or several boats? It would be a disadvantage if anything? What happens if you are at the 2 boat max, have a boat issue and have to use someone else's boat at last minute? Also, if it does mean "2" boats max., how does that apply if we have more than one? EX. If I pull a smaller one down (my own boat) east for one event, use someone else's for another east ender and use my one in Wilson is that considered "3" boats then even though 2 are owned and have same name? Please clarify before the deadline. Thanks Capt. Pete www.visionquestsportfishing.com
  22. Yank, Great start to the season and thanks for the report. That was a great avg. for 6 fish and the fish are definitely larger than last two springs (milder winter). I would have guessed all deep fish for you guys... Congrats. to all of the top 8 check earners. Saturday, we were just 2 for 4 on kings and 2 for 5 on coho bites. All of our king bites came deep 110-120 in 230-260 FOW. Coho bites top 50. Our best king day that week was 7 on Thursday but we fished a long day. Could not repeat it tho See you this weekend. Capt.
