  1. I plan on using this unit from Cabelas. I like you am on a budget so this seems to be the cheapest connection between the main outdrive and the kicker. Similiar connection as the ez-steers. Only bad part is you may have to put a hole in your cavitiation plate to connect them. Not a problem for me because my kicker cav plate already has a hole in it. Where it connects to my main outdrive I am going to build some thing so I don't have to drill a hole. Auxiliary Motor Connector Rods Cabelas part # IA-010971 TD
  2. Oh, you don't have to worry about me getting to loud or rowdy. Unless the lunker on the board is my fish!! Than a celebration will be in order. Actually I like camping at Sampson because of a couple of reasons...Alot of people there that weekend are fishing the derby you can talk to alot of friendly other fisherman....I also like the fact I can slip the boat just walk to slips and your gone....And lastly I like after a long day of fishing a few beers around the campfire before yah get up and repeat it all over!! TD
  3. Hey I got mine in the mail today as well. Rent a slip at Sampson for the weekend Nick, Come enjoy the festivities I know I will be. See the thing is this is also a mens only derby weekend for me, so No wife and kids!! Although I love them all, It is nice to get out with the boys. Camp have some beverages, talk fishin. It doesn't get any better than that. Hopefully the weather is real crappy, now that I have a hard top, maybe it will keep most of the competion off the lake Increase my chances of placing HAHA!! Actually the last 3 years I have fished it the weather has been really pretty good. TD
  4. When yah get it mounted lets see some pics !! TD

  8. Ray, I hear yah.....It is all worth it to me!! Luckily I am in the same boat as far as doing all my own repairs and things of that nature. I can thank the ole man for that he passed a unmeasurable amount of knowledge to me when it comes to that. Thanks dad. I can't imagine having to pay for services. PRICEY! As far as the Pro Ams.... Ray can you fill me in on these I would love to ask you some questions about fishin in them. Can you fish in them like a one day event? I have never really looked in to them until going to this larger boat. Oh and I would be up for a Cold weather trip as well. TD
  9. Split, I have fished the red Cross before not sure if I will this year. Last year I fished the Canandaigua derby, some reason I like that lake, maybe because the 8 pound Rainbow in my avatar came from there I usually limit myself to a couple derbies a year. Seems like every time I fish one it costs me like 300-400 dollars some how? Oh and the boss (wife) likes it that way. I do try to make as many day trips out as I can. Last couple of years I have been dragging the vessel to work on Fridays. Than leaving from work and going right to the lake. I would be out there darn near every weekend if my manager (wife) and my check book would allow it!! TD

  13. I have recently been reading the keating on kings book. In there he states if you go out without at least one wire rod your crazy. I am going to try wire as well. I primarly fish Seneca, Canandaigua, some times Keuka. I recently picked up a bigger boat so I am going to head to the big O this year as well. I have been on this board long enough to know wire or braid is discussed alot. I figure so many use wire and rave about it, I gotta try it myself. TD

  18. Any one got any tips for mounting a kicker bracket? I am mounting this to a trophy with a I/O. Is there one side better than the other. I realize weight distribution should be considered. Other than that any other consideration I should know of prior to picking a side? Thanks in advance. TD
  19. I got a nice troy-bilt rototiller used it this past summer. Runs Good nice built machine. 2- speed forwards and Reverse. Stored in-side most of it's life you can tell. Looking to get $350 or work out a Trade for a 8-15HP Kicker motor. Thanks TD ******SOLD********************************
  20. Thanks Salmonite but I am looking for a adjustable up down type of bracket.
  21. Any one ever tried going extremely deep for large lakers on Seneca? I know during the derbies I always see boats over 300-500 fow fishing. I have tried it before and did pull a couple lakers from like 150-160 ft down. If you guy's read the great lakes anglers you know that alot of articles lately focus on extreme depths. Would love to hear if any one has any experience on this. TD
  22. I do value my family and life. That being said it is a case of understood risk. Just like when you decide to speed down the highway. Maybe a intelligent person that valued their family and life would never speed. I am willing to bet you have exceeded the speed limit before L&M. This original post was not intended to insult or hurt any ones feelings but to show off my new boat that I am excited about using. Every ones entitled to their own opinions and I respect all of yours that responded to this post.
  23. Maybe all ice fisherman should have to wear pfd's?
