  1. I have been using the torpedo wire all year myself and the only time i have had any problem with it is when i get it tangles in the copper or another wire. I have been running the 19 strand from torpedo divers on my diver rods and off all three of my riggers too. When you run it off your riggers it is amazing to see what you can see. You can see they wash of a spoon at thebrodtip when using the wire on the riggers. It also keeps the fleas down almost 100 percent and you dont have to run big 30 mono so you still have tons of line on the spool to bring in big kings. If you run wire on the riggers another benifit that you get is if you do mess up a dipsey wire you have another full spool on your riggers rods so you just have to change the reel over. 2. If you go to the torpedo divers web site they have roller guides that work very well. I started using them this year and am very pleased withe the performance of them. Using the 19 strand disey wire they have withe the roller guides is a great combo. The 19 strand is much more forgiving than the regular wire that mason and all the others are selling us. It is a little more expensive but you dont have to worry about it kinking or stuff like that if you take your time and pay attention as you are working it around your other lines. I use the diawa heartland dipsey rods and they work great too. I think they run about 35- 40 apiece. [ Post made via Android ]
  3. You need the transducer mounted to the back of the boat so the probe has somewhere to send the info to the head unit. Why dont you want to use the surface speed and temp? If you compare the two as you are fishing everyday and if then you have a problem with your probe or you lose the probe you can still fish productivly by using your surface speed. 4. I agree with the inclement weather due to lightning. I also made the decision to pull my lines because I thought it was unsafe also. When tournament control comes on the radio and tells you that it is to be under your descretion Ibagree with the above post. Money being involved makes it much easier to make fhe "wrong" decision. That is one thing I really thought should have happened. I pulled lines thinking that I was making the right decision and I hadnt boxed yet either. Lets not wait til someone gets hurt out there because they are worried about cashing a check or being a real man or women or whatever bs reasoning you can come up with to stay out whilebits thundering and LIGHTNING out there. Think of it from a first time observers point of view. Do you think if they got the u know what scared out of them during the niagra that they are going to be comfortable doing it again. 5. You could run the torpedo or jet divers right off the back of the boat or off the in line boards. Just keep in mind the leader behind your jet diver cant be longer than your pole unless you like to struggle netting your fish. You will have to try different lead lengths to see where you get optimum bites. This could vary every trip out depending on the way the lake sets up and where temps are and all. Good luck! 8. I have cards to fill out andbsendbinto your congressman to help stop the asian carp from getting into Lake Ontario. I am heading to wilson friday night and will be in and out on trips but evenings i will be staying on the boat if anyone is interested in picking one up to send off. [ Post made via Android ]
  9. I know everyone has their opinions andbtheirbown program but if you are having problems getting your cannonballs down deep because of the blowback I think you will like these weights. I started using the 16 pounders this year and there is almost no blowback even while fishing them down 120-140 feet. Thatsvwith the fishhawk probe on it too. They are pretty heavy so you have to have the rigger capabilty to haul them back up. From using these 16 pounders I'm sure the smaller ones will workbwith the same affect. Haven't used any of the other ones I am only running the 16's. Good luck fishing everyone. [ Post made via Android ]
  10. great job they work very good with not as much pull as the copper has. You just have to keep adjusting them to fit into your pattern properly. We had mostly rigger bites for the pro-am.
  11. Sorry im just getting back to you but it sounds like you may be letting your line out to quickly after you put your torpedo diver on. Could also be the current in the water column. I let them out pretty slow and havent had that problem yet [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  12. For those of you interested the bite in wilson is great in the top 50 foot of water almost wherever you go. Started using the torpedo divers this year and finally got something going on them. I've been setting them 100 feet back then the snapper torpedo diver then letting out 50 foot of line and hooking it on the board. As well as high rigger bites these are firing also. Fished yesterday and the best colors were white and the blue green and silver baits.
  13. Nice job guys. You are getting there. One thing you may want to try is to move your dipsey holders back near your riggers more so that you can get the rod tip farther away from your rigger set-up and also if you have to make a sharp turn your wire won't rub on your rigger lines.
  14. I would fish Wilson if it was me if the bar turns on then you can always run there its not that far. Plus you could go east or west out of wilson and probably get into some fish
  15. Hey everyone just wanted to let you know that the p-ville derby went pretty well. We had 19 boats in it and altough it was a little rough some nice fish were caught. The top prize was 475.00 and was taken by Jim Van Hoof from Fishlander Charters fishing out of Sodus. Jim had a nice salmon 26.6 lbs. Second place was 330.00 and was taken by Ryan Williamson also out of Sodus. Ryans fish weighed 24lbs. Third place took 175.00 and was taken by Fishful thinking out of Sodus too. Their fish weighed 18 lbs. The pig roast was really good afterwards too and overall the whole day went off pretty much with no snags other than the uncontrolable mother nature wind. Next year I hope to have more prizes to go along with the cash prizes. I hope to get more boats involved if possible and make this into a small derby that people look forward to fishing every year. If anyone has any suggestions to help make it better please let me know. Remember that I cannot control the weather. A big thanks to all that participated and good luck with the rest of the fall derby. Tight Lines and Big Fish Capt. Jerry Dandy-Eyes Charters P.S.- Sorry no pics for this year but, next year there will be.
