  1. Where can you get extendable booms for cannon downriggers?
  2. The corner riggers are on swivel bases. I guess I will try to find an extending boom for the new one sounds like that would be a good way to run them.
  3. The new rigger I got has a shorter non extending boom so I am not sure if it would get in the way of the prop, that's why I figured I would put it off to the side. I got it for almost nothing from a friend of mine, so I figured I would make it work some how. The 2 mag 10's are about 6 feet apart, would there be enough room to put another between them?
  4. I recently got a third downrigger for my boat and had a question about trolling with the three. I have two mag 10's off the back corners and plan to put the third rigger off one of the sides but I am unsure if I should have the ball lower than the two in the back or at least lower than the other rigger on the same side or not. It seems to me that it could cause a tangle. Any info would be great thanks.
  5. Nice fish! Glad to hear someone finally caught some kings out of Oswego again.
  6. I hear a lot of different things about how wind direction affects fishing conditions but I don't know much about it, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the best wind to fish in. I usually only fish out of Oswego so what is the best wind for this area on the lake?
  7. Hopefully things will get better before the summer LOC. I have been out 3 times in the last two weeks with no fish and only 2 hook ups. I have had at least 5 to 6 poles out in all depths. I see a lot of bait fish and mark several fish but nothing wants to bite.
  8. I have not heard anything recently about the Oswego area, I was just curious if any one is having any luck. Shallow or deeper water? I have been out a few times out of Oswego in the last few weeks without much luck.
  9. Wow!!! Sounds like my normal trips out. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Better luck next time out hopefully huh!
  10. They come with great sampo ball bearing swivels so you can just hook up directly to them, but some times I double them up because every once in a while you might pick up fleas or some kind of vegetation that might prevent it from turning so it's nice to have a back up. Just an idea. Good luck.
  11. I usually run 8' also, any longer than that makes it very tough to net a fish.
  12. If you are unsure of what direction you have it set, put the dypsy on and set it in the water just under the surface and you will find out real fast what direction it goes then you can adjust from there. Also another thing to remember is that for every size dypsy or walker deeper diver there are different formulas for the depths. I only use walkers and they have a pretty good chart on the back that comes with all of them, but you have to add a little more depth when using metal lines such as lead core and copper. The charts will get you started though. Good luck.
  13. Very nice to meet you as well. There are a lot of great people on this site it's nice to put a face to the words. The lake is so low that when I got back to the dock I broke a plastic vent that's for the engine blower intake air on the side of my boat, I was NOT very happy :@ . I never even gave it a thought when I pulled back in because usually it's well above the dock, but not the case yesterday. We need some more consistent weather so we can start to get a thermocline to better pattern where the fish are. I couldn't believe it was still a 45 deg surface temp in the middle of may.
  14. No luck this afternoon, but I had the family with me so I didn't get a whole lot of fishing in just a lot of complaining (mostly from me) . Next time out fishing will be just the guys trip so I can get tuned in. I did mark a lot of fish in 70-120 fow at times but still sporadic.
  15. Thanks fish magnet I will try to remember to put my radio on channel 68 in the morning. I much prefer the deeper water fishing myself gonfyshn723.
  16. The weather is starting to look a little crappy for saturday but sunday is looking good so far.
  17. Thanks fish magnet I will do the same sunday night. I plan to start shallow early then head out to around 100' around ten or so. Hopefully some fish will hit.
  18. I have been reading a lot of reports from the Oswego area of shallow water fishing I was wondering if any one was having luck in deeper water yet. I was planning to fish all day sunday and monday. This is the first time I have been able to get out, I have had some bad luck this year.
  19. I haven't had a chance to get out yet this year yet because of surgery and hospital stays due to having thyroid cancer but now that I am starting to feel better I wanted to try within the next week or so. I was just wondering what depth you guys were having the best luck at around the Oswego area. Some dirtbag broke into my truck and stole some of my tackle that I spent all winter buying (about $300 worth of rapalas and yo-zuris), so now I have to get more lures now too. This year has not started out too well for me yet, I hope the rest of the season makes up for all the crap. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I was keeping up on everything but just haven't been able to until now.
  20. I understand your point and the law does kind of suck for those of us that are responsible like yourself, but it is intended for the irresponsible people who are way more prone to accidents and bad weather in the cool months. Although several people are on the water before may 1st, the major boating season doesn't really begin until after may for the majority of the boaters out there and at that time the law is lifted for all of us and then you won't have to worry about being forced to wear pfd's any more, at least not till the end of the season that is. I don't like being told what to do myself but it's such a short amount of time and I think it could be a small chance to save a life for someone providing they get help within two hours. Hypothermia sets in very fast in cold water and when that happens you loose total control of your limbs but if you have a pfd on you can still stay afloat. It could be the difference between life or death.
  21. I wish they would eat all those damn gobies, I hate those things. That's all I ever catch anymore when I night fish in the summer.
  22. I work at an aluminum factory and I know several people who could fabricate one for me because I think thats the route I plan to go, when I find out what it will cost I can let you know unless you are able to locate someone yourself. I can get aluminum very cheap. I just have to get a hold of someone to make it.
  23. It is located in the corners of the floor near the back of the boat and I think the floor is plastic. I don't think there is any type of coating on it, it just looks like white plastic flooring. It's a bayliner trophy.
  24. I was wondering if anyone knows of any type of sealer/filler for small hair line cracks for plastic. I have a few small cracks in the floor of my boat that I would like to try to seal or fill to prevent it from getting any worse. Thanks for any info.
  25. muskybob, where do you get those plastic tubes from I would love to get a bunch of those.
