  1. Thanks Hank!!! Great job on the boat by the way it ran very good today. I sent you a pm about it.
  2. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Rob ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8-11 Time on Water:6am-1pm Weather/Temp:80ish Wind Speed/Direction:n-nw Waves: less than a foot Surface Temp:low 70's Location:Oswego LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 11 Total Boated:6 Species Breakdown:3 kings, 1 coho, 1 steelhead, 1 small brown Hot Lure: Greasy chicken, and white mtn dew spinny- white crush, mirage, and goby live a-tom-mik flies Trolling Speed: 2.1-2.6 Down Speed: 1.9-2.3 Boat Depth: 120 fow Lure Depth: 70 to 95 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== I took out two good friends and the day started out bad with me loosing a 13lb torpedo weight right off the bat due to a bad swivel , but once I got a dipsey out within 2 min we had a nice 7lb steelhead on and boated it shortly after. After that we had at least one fish on every 20 to 30 min. All the fish were caught on dipsy's 250 to 300 feet out, with the exception of one small brown on the only downrigger I could use due to the loss of one of my weights. I also lost 2 flasher fly set-ups to some screamers. Over all a very expensive day (over $90 dollars equipment loss) but the best day trolling I have had so far. Here is a few of the fish we got. The kings have really moved in the last week or so. The pics of the kings are all different fish.
  3. I have been using the surgeons loop knot it is very strong and very easy to tie. I have not had any problems with it yet.
  4. PolarBear, Just type in Owner treble hooks on ebay and you will get a lot to choose from. I don't think there is a sharper point made on a hook. A-tom-mik trolling flies have owner trebles on them and they are extremely sharp. The last time I got them on ebay I got them loose in bulk and got a great deal at about half price. Owner stinger trebles are what I use, they are very good.
  5. The best thing you can do like Shade said is make sure your hooks are extremely sharp, I can't stress that enough. Most of my spoons have the hooks replaced with owner treble hooks. They are as sharp as a sewing needle. I used to buy them on e-bay for a fraction of the cost that you would find them any where else. I almost never loose fish any more since I got those.
  6. No problem feel free to ask any time. Most of us on here will be happy to give up any info to help out another angler. Thats what this site is for. I asked all spring about how the fishing was but was unable to get out due to being very sick so I know the feeling. It has been hit and miss fishing for me all summer so far. Not much worth reporting so far. Good luck fishing!!!
  7. Not a whole lot of mature kings out of Oswego yet, lots of trout though and young kings. You really have to hunt for the mature kings right now in deep water. The 100-180 fow range has been pretty active for the last month or so.
  8. I also recommend Hank he is very good and reasonable priced, His number 558-4178 is
  9. Nice fish. Years ago when I used to work construction I was in State College, PA and caught a few of them in a small stream. The first time I saw them I thought they were huge goldfish. LOL
  10. Thats unreal to hear about! It makes me sick thinking about all the money it costs for a season slip and wrights landing can't even guarantee the security of the boats there. I had someone break in my truck this year and steal my fishing equipment out of it that I had left in it over night so I know that feeling. I hope they catch the fillthy scums, there is nothing worse than a thief! I hope wrights landing was held liable for the cost of the stolen fishing gear. 11. fshnwmn, I highly recommend taking your boat to Hank (L&M) he is a moderator on this site and I just had some work done by him and he is very good. I don't think I could take my boat to anyone else but him now. You can reach him at 315-558-4178. He is located in Port Bay by Wolcott, NY. I think everyone on here would tell you the same thing as well.
  12. I took my boat out yesterday and it seemed to work better but I noticed when I raised and lowered my downriggers (mag 10's) the screen seemed to mess up like before or sometimes when I hit a wave it would mess up but it was a calm day more or less and worked better. I will read that article chromeslayer. Thanks for the info.
  13. Burt, I tried to get a hold of you today (thursday 7-15) on channel 68 a few times but I was unsure if you were out. We did ok today it took us a long time today to figure out where the fish were but eventually we found them in the 120-180 fow zone down 80-120 fow. We never got a single hit till we got in those depths around 10am. We went 2 for 4 with one small king and a nice lake trout. Both fish were caught on chicken wing spin doctor with a-tom-mik goby alive fly. We tried all color combos with flasher flies and spoons and gold was the only thing with any action. I will be out on saturday to try again.
  14. I was using the fish marks and in auto, I will try to reset it in manual I hope that fixes it. I will be out tomorrow and I will post if that fixed it or not thanks for the info.
  15. Burt I will try to get in touch with you both days. I really hope to find some kings. I will be taking out some friends I work with. Thanks for the info stoneyxc.
  16. I have a hummingbird 580 fishfinder and for some strange reason this year when I get over 100 fow or so I get a ton of disturbance on the screen and it fills up with hundreds of fish on it but less than 100 fow it seems to work ok. I have tried everything to get rid of the problem and messed with all settings but I can't figure out how to fix it. Does anyone know what might cause this and how to fix it. It is basically useless right now in deep water except for the gps and speed. Also the depth bounces around a lot in deep water. Last year it worked fine but not this year. I don't know, maybe it's just possessed. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!
  17. Burt, on sunday 100ft down was 45-46 deg. I think the temp ranges changed with this weekends wind. 90ft down was still pretty cool at 48 deg. Almost all the boats were in 150 to 250 fow. I plan to be out thursday and saturday again to try and find those kings. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  18. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7/11 Time on Water:couple hours Weather/Temp:80's Wind Speed/Direction:wnw Waves: 2ft Surface Temp: Location:Oswego LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1 Total Boated:1 Species Breakdown:Brown Hot Lure: green silver spinny/glow hammer fly Trolling Speed: 2.1-2.8 Down Speed: 1.9-2.6 Boat Depth: 200ft Lure Depth: 100-80 ft ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== I had a couple hours to kill sunday morning and ended up with a nice football brown. I heard a lot of people on the radio catching browns but not much about kings. Has anyone been having luck with kings. I haven't caught one yet but I have not spent much time fishing for them yet either. I plan to really focus on them the next several weeks. My dad with the 6lb brown.
  19. Blacks releases work the best and you can adjust the pressure on them. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  20. Thanks for the info I will give that a shot.
  21. I recently bought a cannon sport troll from a friend and was wondering if anyone knew if there is anything out there that I could use for an extended boom. The one on it only has around a 16 inch copolymer boom. I would like to get something around 30 plus inches.
  22. I got a bunch of Rhys Davis bait heads I wanted to try running but i'm not sure how long the leaders need to be from the flasher on these can anyone help me out with this. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  23. Thanks guys I just called called him and am planning to bring it out to him on friday, sounds like a great guy who knows his stuff.
  24. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good marine mechanic that won't charge a million dollars in or around the Oswego area. I need to get some work done on my boat engine, it's been running very rough and extremely hard to start. Thanks for any info.
  25. The one I just got is a cannon sport troll. It has a smaller diameter boom than the mag 10's I have.
