  1. Hi,

Last year I did better than in many years on small mouth . It takes awhile to find them but they are around.Last year I found them on dropoffs mostlyand caught many using gobies caught for bait.Any goby seemed to work as long it wasnt to large. Also I did use softahells and worms fished about 2 ft. off the bottom.

One thing I hardly ever caught a undersize small mouth ,most were over 14 inches and pretty healthy.

The big thing that gave me confidence was a report form a friendly local dive team that clued me in on the bass. They said they even saw some schools of small bass along with the bigger fish. They saw quite a few walleye also.

I also incorporated a camera along with a good garmin gps sounder.

Hope to be back at um this week

  2. Hi,

I had a idea about forming a trout and salmon club simular to the local bass clubs. The clubs have what is called a non-boater so not having a boat would be a problem.

Having a trout and salmon boat for oneself is a expensive hobby.Costs could somehow be shared and also boats could be used to bring in young new fishermen and women.

My son is runing the rochester bass club this year so when he gets back I'll have more background info.

    Other input would be welcome.

  3. Excellent report. The best part is you did so well solo.I"ll remeber that when I get out there soon.

Im glad to here the kings are still around hughes and pultneyville.

In years past there were always at least six boats in that area. Caught many many big fsh.

I just finished putting together my depth raider.

Its on a penn 620 so I can use it on either boat. Now its the decesion between the searay or the sea nymph.

Anyone interested in teaming up ,let me know.

  4. The professional bass tournaments now use oxygenated water in their tournaments.Regular fish well water usualy hold about 4ppm of oxygen. The kits now avalable supercharge the holding tanks with pure oxygen.to 15 ppm.

The fish are also transported in oxygenated holding bags till weight in. After the weight in the fish are kept in a central holding tank (15ppm oxygen) till ready to release.Even then the fish are released in a high oxygen discharge.

This results in a 100% survival for bass released held under these guidelines.

Maybe this method could also adapted for trout and salmon if needed.

  5. Hi,

i got a good boat at Bow and stern in north tonawanda.Very good service and good prices. they are the ones to talk to about a aluminum boat.I got a older seanymph from them to replace my old fiberglass boat. It served me for over twenty years . I stripped it and put it all on the seanymph.

The 195 gls seanymph is very popular boat up here in sodus.Very roomy for lake fishing and capable for rough water.

  6. My son and grandson fished sodus on sunday and did well with 75 keepers over 9 inches.Caught alot of large bluegill also.Green and chartuse 1/64 gig.

Pultneyville bear creek also is very good now for large perch.Saw some huge pike in the lagoon today.

  7. went to sodus instead this weeken, truck was down for repair. Sodus was slow with fifty keepers all spawning males taken in 5 to 2 ft. of water around the islands.Caught some large bass and alot of bluegills on small jigs and articficals ,some caught on minnows.

  8. I have owned the boat for two years. 9. I called chaumont hardware and was told before the cold spell ,many many big perch were taken by the bridge in chaumot. The perch are still there and havny spawned yet so the next warm up should bring some good fishing.I plan on going sunday for a few days.I also heard eel bay and kring point have been good. Anywhere you find the baitfish the perch will be there.

Last fall the perfch fishing at sodus was the best in many years. I went out about a dozen times and took our limit in usally less than two hours.Saw very few entries here on that good fishing even with the many boats there.

Good fishing guys ,the perch are alot better eating than the browns.

  10. Hi Guys,

Saw alot od snows in the fields ,clyde lyons savanah, even walworth had a few thousand.Hope to get out this weekend ,its to much for one guy to set up all those decoys.Any of you that hunt would want to get together ,we have about 5oo decoys now about a dozen flyers and of course layout blinds

  11. I am getting the thoughts about attempt to jigging for any species that bites.

The location will be at just out of I-bay along shore of Lake Ontario. Probably around 5-30 fow.

I'll use almost everything related to jigging, three way swivel, crankbaits, spoons, and live baits. (primary 4-6 inch lures) I just wanted to get a bite.

I know I will expect some swearing around me and some dirty looks. However, I don't even care about that when I am begin fishing around there. I am kinda hope to hook up several Lakers from there. (I'll use kayak or small boat with fishfinder)

My plan is find the group of baits and start fishing from there and drifting until I feel that it is time to move back again or move another location. (Hope that many boats don't hit me!)

Anyway, I wonder if you guys have any advice for me about jigging around that area? If you does, feel free to comment or PM me.

    Hi,

I use to jiggwith suttons on a drop sinker. Had prety good luck with lakers and even got a few kings.Finding the bait schools and staying over them paid off.

In the spring I usualy fish the creek mouths and either anchor or drift if light winds and cast with krocs or cleos in the productive water.

This method produced alot more fish and a lower gas bill..My searay was good for that in I had all the comforts when I was out on the lake.

Most of the traffic was further down by the plant so I didn,t disturb any trollers

  12. Bought this bought in 2009 . It ran well for two years.Boat had drive gone over in 2009,new bellows gimball bearing ,etc. Motor runs well uses no oil.I have a smaller boat now and the searay is a litle to big for solo fishing.

If interested please contact Boat comes complete with downriggers rodholders ,garmin gps ,many electronics.New tires on trailer 1991 ezloader.Full camper top included.Full bath, kitchen and sleeps four email me at [email protected]
