  1. Hi,

A few weeks ago I installed the sp110 sitex on my 1987 searay. It uses a octopus mechanical drive unit that has been in production for 20 years. Its canadian made  not chinesee junk.It seemed like a tough job that might need a installer but after reading the instructions several times and contacting the manufacturer everything got done .Now I could do it in about three hours at the most. The unit works very good and have no isues with slow speed problems  that were reported.

Its alot easier now to troll with the autopilot.

  2. bass is alot better now that the water warmed up. Try lookin around water intake piped along the lake. Also driop offs and look for bait around dropoffs and ledges.I have good luck searching for them first with my color garmin 178c and then fishing them.Make sure to keep bait off the bottom at least a foot.

  3. Just figured I'd post the progress on this as it moves along...

I ended up having to sell my last small aluminum boat a few seasons ago and have missed it ever since. I primarily used it every month through the winter on the Lower Niagara and for shoreline trolling when the ice wasn't too bad. I love my bigger boat, but missed the mid-winter fishing.

I ended up finding a 1987 SeaNymph FM161 (Fishing Machine model). She was pretty cheap but needs some work. The interior is almost shot so she'll get new plywood and carpet. The hull is in great shape and is my first aluminum hull with absolutely zero leaks.

    When I picked it up-

I already have new seats, marine carpet, and plywood. Figured it should probably have a cover before all that work so got busy with the industrial sewing machine and some Sunbrella I had left over from my last cover.

    In the works-

    Complete-

I planned on keeping everything "budget" for this boat, but how am I ever going to troll without a little kicker? I hated spending the cash but the security of a second motor is priceless when it's 10 degrees out and you're on the water.

    Added a 5hp Tohatsu-

That was all done over the past few weeks.

    Future work-

Paint the interior and exterior. Replace floors and carpet, Mount two of my riggers that I can borrow from the other boat. Mount my old planer mast (thank God I saved it). I'm sure I'll think of something else to add... lol.

hi got a weak floor also aroud seats.plan on covering some day with coosa, synthetic board an leavinf rootn wood.it's expensive but needs no fiberglass or vinyl

  4. Hi,

I have a 26 ft. searay that Im planning on putting a autopilot on it. Sitex has a unit that attachs to the mechanical steering on the mercruser,p110

Any of you had experience with sitx autopilot would be welcome

I also put a auxilary 9.9 outboard on it. I adapted a aluminum plate so I could get to run deep enough to work.I took it and it trolls good with the wind.

    thanks

  5. Hi we  went last night at Art-park and got our limit by 1000 PM.Smelting started running about 9.00.I also found dipping was  better without using any lights. From what some locals told me the run just started and has about 10 days to go.I stayed at the motel in Lewiston down by the river. which has excellent rooms and very resonable

  6. I just heard the smelt are running at the park.Ill be down wednesday night.I went there last year but hit the run at the end.Caught some smelt but  hope for a better run this year.Hope to see you all there.

It's a long walk down the stairs but it is safe.
