  1. I'm new to this lake this year and appriciate the advice. Thanks for the support.
  2. Trolled the west side - North from Vine Valley to just north of the condo's in the morning. Marked a ton of fish on the bottom in 140' - 160' FOW. The surface temps were ~ 50 degrees. No takers however the fish appear to be moving slowly to shallow water. I'm hoping to hit a few of them in the head with my rigger ball to wake them up. The lake will eventually warm up. It was an awesome day though - just good to be out on the water.
  3. FLX - It's good to see that someone with your experience is seeing the same thing I saw last week. I thought I was loosing my mind because I'm used to finding fish in shallow water this time of the year but they are really deep right now. Go figure - this lake seems to be the exact opposite of Seneca. Thanks for the report.
  4. Took the shake down trip Friday afternoon. Trolled north through Vine Valley and marked alot of fish in 150' - 160' FOW on the bottom. Nothing shallow. Unfortunately my riggers don't go that deep and they weren't interested in anything I offered at 140'. Hopfully it won't be long before they start coming up a little bit. Excellent weather however.
  5. Thanks cdgn troller - I'm heading out this afternoon - I'll post an update tonight while I'm watching the race. I have all of the tools you referred to with the exception of boards. I'll have to hook up with some of you guys who can teach me how to use the boards. I am used to huge boards on the Chesapeake Bay for stripers but they are much different than the ones used in the lakes.
  6. Yep - I'm the Proline at the end slip - found out yesterday I need to move to the A dock - I think - closest one North - I'll keep you tied in. I'm new to Canandaigua - I've been on Seneca for a few years. I'm hoping the same tactics work on this lake.
  7. I'll be heading out for the shakedown trip Friday afternoon with the riggers deep and the cheaters high. I'll give the west side and Vine Valley a good look. Thanks all for the early reports.
  8. Is your price for the rod and reel combo or each individual piece?
  9. Name: Tom Edwards Location: Canandaigua Home Port:Canandaigua Boat Name/Type: 2000 Proline 25 Walk I fish for: Trout - Salmon ================== I'm fairly new to the area - moved here in 2006 from Southern Maryland. I'm learning this fresh water stuff fairly quickly. These lakes are a whole lot different from the Chesapeake Bay trolling I'm accustomed to. I've spent my first two years fishing the northern third of Seneca Lake with consistent success. Much of which was learned from this site - go figure! My wife has talked me into moving the boat the Canandaigua this spring. We will reside at Smith Boy's. I look forward to meeting my new neighbor FLXTroutman. It looks like I'll spend the coming years learning a new lake. Any help is welcomed!!
