  6. Mike - that is the craziest story I've heard this year. When you guy's floated by me I couldn't tell your guy's went swimming. I guess that is one way to pass the time if the rods are quiet. Glad all are OK - great report by the way!!
  7. Another great day on the lake - looks like you had a great time showing a few youngsters how much fun the lake can be. See- you don't need jet ski's to keep the kids happy. I'm heading off to Maine for a bear hunt - I'll give you a buzz in a week or so.
  8. Great report Mike - The mornings are HOT!! I remembered that white flasher and no seeum fly hooking up consistently.
  9. I believe that was a really good fish - for all the fish we catch it's amazing that the one you really want to land is the one that gets off. Thanks for the trip - next time we will take my boat out a try to get it good and dirty!
  10. great job - I started on Seneca ~ 3 years ago and after the 1st they just kept coming. This board will help you a ton if you just listen to the folks posting reports. There isn't a better place to learn. Congratulations!!
  11. Are any of you guys having any success in the afternoon - sundown on Canandaigua? I have had some success in the early AM but all of my trips in the PM haven't had the same results. I typically run a wire diver out 180' - 220' with a SD / flyand cover the rest of the water column with the riggers / sliders. I've run both SD's / flashers and flies deep or just spoons with no luck in the afternoons. Usually my spoons are ~ 30' off of the balls. I change colors based on sun or no sun as you would expect. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
  12. Hit the lake this morning at 05:30 and had the lines in the water before 06:00. First hit was on a Mountain Dew SD / fly back 220" over 90' FOW near the white rock. The first jump broke 12 bucks worth of tackle loose and the 2nd jump was the bow coming 4' out of the water pissed off because he had not shook the hook loose yet. 10 or 20 minutes later the rigger on the starboard side dropped. A 20" bow hit a green frog slider over 120' FOW just south of Vine Valley. After that the rods went silent which seems to be the theme of lake for me this year. It was pretty choppy this morning but it was a good few hours with a nice sun rise and a fat rainbow.
  13. Fished the south end again from the White rock north - crossed the lake just south of Vine Valley and returned south down the west side. The fish FLX and I saw on Sunday were gone! I marked a few 20' - 35' down over 150 FOW on the east side and a scattering of fish over 190 FOW as I crossed. The west side had a few concentrations of fish in 20' - 40' over 140 FOW. I did mark the occaisional laker down 80' - 90' which may be good news as the cline sets up. I had one hard hookup on a green NK slider but my son lost it as quickly as it hooked up.
  14. Thanks for the help gentlemen. I was hoping not to spend the entire spring / summer learning how to fish this lake but pulling lures around Candaigua is better than working late . Keep sending in the good reports.
  15. I was able to get in the water around 4 or so. I motored up to the condos and zig zagged back down the east side. I didn't see the numbers of fish high in the water column that have been around in the past 10 days or so. I was able to pick up 2 small bows on a blue J-9 and a black / silver Rebel that I returned to the water to grow up some. The riggers were quiet all day - I don't know where the lakers have gone!! Can any of you help me understand the normal routine for the lakers on this lake? Do they spread out over the entire lake in the summer or follow a consistent path to the middle, north, south etc??
  16. CDOG is the way to go - we booked him last year and went 25/25 in 4 hours in the Northern end of the lake - he has his crap together!!
  17. Thanks Mike - The pier was out of bait so I went back to the riggers and dipseys. Marked a ton of fish in 180' - 220' FOW suspended between 25' - 75' near Vine Valley. Ran SD / flies and flasher / fly combos. Picked up a cookie cutter 4# laker on a blue flasher / fly. Even a blind squirrel gets a nut some days!
  18. Where can you purchase sawbellies between Ontario and Canandaigua?
  19. Happens all the time just keep them out of your drive - traveling man gives good advise.
  20. That I did - it was a great day to be out!!
  21. Great report - so for those of you are keeping count I was on the other side of the lake in 120' - 160' FOW pulling SD / flies and the super secret peanut rig on the riggers all of which were silent as well. I've decided to throw the riggers in the dumpster and just jig!!
