  3. im looking for a 25-50 horse outboard for a duck boat.... no preference on model but would like a motor thats newer than 1990. need a tiller with short shaft... i can work with a long shaft however i will travel to pick up! Thanks, Tom
  4. we also fished fairhaven on 9/10... it was aweful no fish hooked no fish landed. first skunk of the year and possibly last trip. the water was freezing way out to 250-300, good bait in 60-70 but no fish
  5. we run wire and the length of our leader from the attractor to the dipsy is about the same length as the rod (8-10ft). We also constantely changed the amount of line we let out until we start bangin fish. Most of the time its spin dr. fly w/ meat, but the spoons (glow) have been doing some damage behind our dipsys. I believe it depends on what the fish want... some days its all riggers with the occasional dipsy hit and other days it the opposite. My suggestion would be to get wire and change the amount of line you have out alot until they start gettin hits! O we also run size 0 dipsys, i also recommend that. Good Luck!!!
  6. i was also considering headed to oswego, but Fair Haven has been real good so idk... fish have been in the 80-120 range but who knows. Good bites for us have been on sushi flies with sushi filets, behind pretty much any spin dr. or echip. Glow spoons also in greens and blues.
  7. So this year is the first season we are putting our boat in storage (first i/o we've owned)... So when does the fishing subside and when do most of you guys winterize the boat?

  10. I see a lot of boats with name brand fishing decals... was wondering where you guys get these?
  11. We run spoons behind the riggers 45-60 foot usually. We also run 25 lb mono with a 17 pound flouro leader (when running spoons). This year it seems all fish come off the sd&echips/flies but we have had some steelies, browns, salmon hit spoons. The spoons we run are usually NBKs in both sizes, moonshines, and dream weaver SS spoons and we have caught fish on all these spoons this year. I also run spoons off the dipsys and have had good luck in the upper water column. 2 weeks ago we caught a nice steelie of the dream weaver SS red ice. when running spoons off the dipsys i usually will not let the diver out any further than 225 foot, targeting steelies, kohos. With the dipsys i also will run smaller size spoons. I will say that the spoons have been a second to flies this year.
  12. bobs_boys got it, thats what i do. One rod per rigger is all you really should run. Slide cheaters also. I do stack 2 poles but only on the fingerlakes. When i do, i run my first rod off the ball then usually stack my 2nd rod 25 to 30 foot above the first rod. I like to run the 2nd rod leader length about half of the first this usually prevents any tangles if the the first rod fires. ex. 1st rod leader length 50 foot, 2nd rod (stacked rod) 25-30 foot leader.
  13. i run mason 7 strand works good, try bretts place on the bay, either the website or the ebay store hes got tons of awesome deals and combos.
