  2. My boat is a 16.5' alumacraft. When we retrieved it yesterday, I could not winch the boat all the way up to the front roller because the water was so low and the angle so steep that the bow dipped below the roller. I had to leave about a foot distance between the roller and the point of the bow, drive the car up slowly and then winch it all the way up. I have done this before with this boat at the Penn Yann launch and it works because the boat is light. If I was by myself and had an 18' or larger boat, I would not use this ramp. The state ramp on the other branch would be a much better choice.

State park would be a better choice if doing it by yourself for sure.. But we launched in Penn Yan twice with a 22 ft boat no problem but there was also 2 of us..

  3. Thanks, guys. I take it you're both referring to the north end launch in Canandaigua, and not the Woodville launch? I've only launched from the north end. I thought if it's as windy out of the south as predicted on Sunday, I might try the south end for a smoother boat ride.

I apologize. . I was referring to Woodville launch..

  4. Does anyone have any recent update on the launchability from Woodville or the marine park at the north end of Canandaigua? I am thinking of heading down there on Sunday. I have a 19 foot fiberglass, not heavy, but I'm not sure of the draft.

    Thanks.

We launched 22 foot boat there last weekend no problem and there was a 25-footer that was launched there also that day with no problem the water is low but just keep your trim up and if you're looking at the launch use the right side launch there is some build up on the left side launch from people power loading their boats there.. You shouldn't have any problem at all as long as you take it easy out to the drop off.

  5. Launched bright an early at the south end Woodville launch and putted slowly out to the drop off very cautious due to low water out and on our way back but not as bad as I expected.. We ran north a mile or so and waited til time to drop lines and start the day.. We ran cores coppers rigs and riggers and one spoon dipsy.. First hour was extremely slow waiting for daybreak but when the sun came up we started picking up a few bows and some good Lakers .. Thus being the last tournament of the year it was silver fish only tournament which makes it fun but can be stressful too trying to cull your box and return any rainbow that are not gonna help your box back to the lake as healthy as can be.. We caught 7 bows that were all around ounces of each other until about mid morning when we decided to take a look out in the middle of the lake.. My crew was starting to doze a bit when I notice the starboard rigger twitch and this beautiful bow was airborne before the rigger even popped , as I grab the rod it pops and the bow is now on its second leap (about 3 feet) out of the water and as it landed made a few impressive drag pulling rips on me before we were able to get it to the net.. We box that rainbow knowing we now need to add some browns to our box but continue fishing with no prevail.. We head for weigh in fourth in overall points and hoping to move up a bit but expecting for others to have some good silvers too.. We are a bit suprised at weigh in with some bows being weighed but no browns and we happen to have the biggest bow at weigh in and that gave us the win and moved us up to finish second overall in the clubs final standings... Congrats to Josh Bellis (Bellis Program) on bringing home the club championship.. Way to go man very impressive second year in the club.. Anyone who maybe interested in joining the club for next season or in the future send me a PM with your email address and I will get you out an application and tournament rules ..

Iron Duke Trolling Flies also had 4 pro staffers finish in the top 5 in points overall for the season out of 24 boats that fished this season.. That is a pretty impressive feat for Iron Duke Trolling Flies first year in Business... I would personally like to thank Josh Bellis (Bellis Program) 1st overall in points , Brent Casciotti (Abc715) 4th overall in points and John Wild (Nauti Troller) 5th overall in points.. I would like to personally thank you guys for putting your faith in my products and running them this year it means the world to me.. And I also want to thank all of you guys here on the Lou who have supported me from day 1 and purchased flies and bait rigs from me.. We will continue to make great products that not only catch the fisherman's eye but put fish in your boats as well thanks again for your support...

  6. Fished out of Deans Cove today with a husband wife team from Florida. The husband was 90 years old and got a work out today. We crushed the Lakers, Salmon, Bows, and Browns. Best depth was 100 to 130 with most bait in the 110 ft range down 80. Bows and Browns were down 50 to 66 ft and the big salmon and Lakers were in the 100 to 120 range. Flashers and fly's down deep spoon up high. Down speed 2.0 to 2.2 gps averaged 2.3. T Cline was at 64ft. I've had teens and young adults who couldn't reel in fish like these two. We had times when they were both reeling in fish and six more were waiting to be reeled in. Only had a few shorts today and at least 30 plus legal fish. It's been awhile since I was on Cayuga and it was a beautiful day on the water. Should be some awesome silver fishing this spring on Cayuga. Sean

Awesome job Sean !! They look like they had a great time ... Definitely been some great fishing over there this year..

  7. Ed makes a good point. Back when I used to night fish on Seneca and Keuka I would leave my truck and trailer in the parks and on one occasion When I came in in the early AM there was a park police vehicle and a State Police car waiting by my truck and they weren't real happy that I hadn't either put a note or notified anyone that I was staying out there all night and they weren't sure if it was someone who was in trouble out there. I was a little 'sheepish" as I recall[emoji38]Never had that problem at the Woodville launch at the south end of Canandaigua though as back then there were bunches of folks out there doing it. Trolling at night can be a mess though (we bait fished with night fishing rigs while anchored or drifting) and that was bad enough[emoji2]. If it isn't a real bright moonlit night it is first of all difficult to see your lines and/or where a fish is on any of them and most importantly it is very difficult to get your bearings out there especially late at night when folks turn their cottage lights out so you have no landmarks visible at all and if you get turned around somehow without electronic aids etc. you don't have a clue even what side of the lake you are on[emoji38]The boat lights now days are a good idea for many reasons

Les and Ed both bring up great points.. definitely let someone know of your plans before you head out and if you use a state launch make sure you let somebody from that launch know... and even if you think you know the lake like the back of your hand at anytime weather can push in or fog making it very disoriented and hard to keep track of where you're at good Electronics especially a GPS and a compass are a must... I have been out on Seneca Lake many times when the fog has rolled in and you can hear the guys in the boat next to you having a conversation word for word but you cannot see them it is a very uneasy situation...

  8. I don't recall Ed... I will keep that in mind thank you very much.. I think if you put the right presentation out there at night you can still get these fish to bite you're probably going to have to play around a little bit ..Also just installed these Atwood deck spotlights, they run on 6 AA batteries and they rail mount so no holes drilled and the light up the back of the boat unbelievably.post-148405-14740281844443_thumb.jpg
