  1. Thanks for input, helpful
  2. Stinger thanks for the info, will look into what you suggested. Have no idea what F 585 is worth on market. Sure I have two transducer mounts for transom one is a 1K transducer that was only used one season. Adding a side scanner transducer would involve a transom mount?
  3. Thanks. Very useful info. Food for thought Dont like hanging transducers on the stern since I had it replaced , my question is can I have two thru hull transducers one on either side of boat , will they interfere.? If I can I can split screen chartplotter gps and ff screen What model did u end up buying ? So basically then the 585 has its limitations sonar wise. Dont think I ever learned to use it right. Kept it simple n auto mode
  4. Looking to replace my Lowrance 15 GPS fishfinder unit with a new unit. I only use it for GPS and plotter. It no longer marks fish saved and black n white hard to see. Know most units are combo units but don't plan on using transducer. Have little used Furuno 585 with thru hull transducer as main fish finder. Looking to spend around $500-$700
  5. Thanks Gill-T for info. Appreciate ur help
  6. So what is the walleye bite like at the Cat ? Only ever been to North East Marina one time. Is the perch bite ever good at the same time walleye are in that area. Coming from a five hr drive eastern Pa so timing is everything Thanks guys for any help

  8. OK I'm sold on Fish USA. Glad I took the time to ask and save my self some grief with a poor line. Thanks to all that took the time to contribute. Question about using lead core. ? Some captains I hear using 1 color off the big boards or I guess small boards early for browns Wouldn't it be easier to use a drop weight or 1/2 ounce split shot . First time fished Lake Erie for eyes last year n used that tactic off big boards with 2 n 3 ounce weights and worked good Attached weight 100' or more back
  9. They carry Fish USA Stealthcore lead core which looks all black without different colors every 30', or Sufix 832 Advanced lead core , and Sufix Performance lead core. So which one is it you're recommending ? I Imagine your talking Fish USA STEALTHCORE
  10. Looking to replace some damaged lead core. Think it was Mason lead core which was pretty durable. Before I do what have members found to be durable good leadcore to use. I have found multiple brands ie Tuf Line leadcore, Mason which can be found but isn't readily available at a lot of stores or Sufix leadcore or Sufix advanced lead core ? Also I believe I bought 27lb test but am open to other ideas from members regarding what lb test to use. Thanks in advance for any advice offered
  11. Thanks to all that helped by providing info Was able to become familiar with area and for sure will be returning. Wish Erie was closer You guys that fish it regular have a great thing to take advantage off Too bad Lake Erie United forums are not very helpful
  12. Fished Erie first time out of North East Marina 9/10-9/15, lake and weather was perfect. Boated approx 60 fish . Used down riggers, big boards, and dipsey's little. Last two days added worm harnesses with crawlers. Out of four on board two were not very helpful on boat because of their physical condition, otherwise our catch would have been better. 10 color lead core worked good with Baker stick baits mostly chartreuse. Used deep diving stick baits with 3-4 oz drop weights . Seems fish bite light and frequently didn't know fish were on until changing lures. Thanks to all who helped with information on where to fish etc. Had to buy cheap electric fillet knife. Those fish have a tough exterior skin and bones. Special thanks to Schults and mr 580 for their help. Surely will make it an annual trip
  13. Thanks. Found exactly what I needed in Noth East area. Fish cleaning station at the marina. This trip will be a learning experience. Wish I would have ventured sooner. Yah well
