sweet!!   I got a new savage 220  last year that i really want to break in at some point this season  lol  but we have been seeing some big boys on this property so tomorrow i finally get to go after them hard, been watching their movements and i think i know their core little section of woods!

Good luck tomorrow everyone! When everyone around here goes south tomorrow I think I’m gonna head north in the afternoon and see if I can get on a big ones track

I made a rookie mistake tonight. Had my new stand in the tree about 12:30 and decided to sit in it the rest of the day. About 230 a little first rack buck comes cruising through no idea I’m there. Nothing until a little after 430ish. I was standing in my stand thinking about the squirrels making so much noise was gonna screw me up if a deer shows. Sure enough 5 minutes later the squirrels are behind me running around, I turned around to double check and it’s a buck, didn’t think it was a shooter, it knew something wasn’t right and went around the tree and I still never grabbed my bow until it was too late. It was a shooter....

Put this stand in today and just had a first rack buck come by about 30 yards hopefully that means good things to come from this set.

Got a new spot today and setup in the only semi decent opening between really thick stuff and food. A lot of buck sign in this clearing (not that it matters much now). Made a bit of noise getting a setup in here but looks promising for future hunts at least.

Depends on how they’re moving and what kind of shooting lanes are there. I try not to if I can help it because I’ve had them jump the string in my mind at least because I tipped them off before

One doe so far moved through with a sense of urgency but no buck in tow. Squirrels are active for the first time in days so hopefully the deer follow suit

That’s not necessarily true (not implying that you had them wrong). The original rage used just the o ring, the last generation used just the slip cam, the new ones use both for whatever reason. When you align the slip cam the “petals” are supposed to be centered over the lips on the blades. If they’re lined up with the slits between the pedals it can cause issues with the blades deploying. If the slip cam did not allow the blades to fully deploy then the hair could’ve got in there and locked them up further. You’d have to imagine that with as fast as that arrow is moving from an xbow and the energy behind it that the hair would not have time to stop the blades from deploying (never had a problem like that with a compound). Not saying your wrong, stranger things have happened, just playing devils advocate.

Just got out of work early should be able to be in my ground blind by 1 and I have all of next week off to hunt a couple of new spots I picked up. Can’t wait, weather and field reports look promising.
