  1. Hot and heavy for a little bit about 10 does a first rack buck, 2.5 8 and I didn’t get a good look at the third but big body pushing does around further in the woods. Dead for about the last 15 minutes. Feels like it’s 75 out here compared to yesterday

  2. They just really got on their feet here in the last 10 or so minutes 5 does and a little buck behind them. They all just killed around for about 5 minutes then as soon as the little buck started bumping them a little the died took off.

  3. Had a bunch of does about an hour and a half before dark. A shooter came out of some thick stuff about 80 yards out and scent checked all of them and went right back in. Right at dark I heard a ton of noise off to my right (crashing leaves turning etc) then about 5 minutes later I heard the most god awful screaming/screeching coming from that direction. Not sure what it was but i started wondering if it might’ve been that creature from the Jeepers Creepers movies.

  4. Got down about a half hour ago when my fingers were finally in too much pain to stand it anymore. On my way to dicks now to get gloves and some antler ice. Saw 3 does and 3 bucks 2 1.5 year olds and I’m thinking smaller 2.5 or a stud first rack. About a mile from my spot I was pulling up to a stop sign and saw a doe come barreling into the field. Got my binocs out in time to see a real nice 10 hounding her, watched them for about 5 minutes and he was on her the whole time all over the hillside.

  5. Got in the stand about 10 minutes ago, got up at 2am to leave from Albany to my new spot near Macedon. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it on time when exit 34-41 of the thruway was covered in snow and near white out conditions. Happy I did because minus the wind this morning seems about perfect.

  6. My mission after work today was to get back in an untouched piece of thick stuff on this new property. All was going well, did a drag walking in then I️ got about 15 feet off the ground and this happens. Nothing will make you pucker up like your toes slowly pointing towards the sky faster and faster. Had to wriggle the platform down the tree and shimmy the top down while bear hugging the tree. Spots probably blown but I’m heading west at about 2am anyhow. IMG_0520.HEIC

  7. They’re redoing our floors in our shop at work so I got cut out at 315 changed out of my uniform and was out the front gate at about 316 drove to my spot about as fast as I could and basically ran to my stand. Last week when I was up here I️ kind of winged it and made 2 ground scrapes with estrous doe antler ice because that’s what I had. Much to my surprise I got up here today and found 3 scrapes so I must’ve fooled someone.

I also saw a good buck this morning on my way to work at first light cruising and a couple does on their feet a couple fields over. First deer I’ve seen going to work all fall, it’s starting to heat up so I’m not questioning my second week of November choice for vacation as much anymore.

  8. Yea buddy that is a slammer of a buck, I hope Legasy finds his buck!! One thing I can say is you guys definitely are a group of excellent bunch of selective hunters. The only was a buck is going to get to 140" plus is to let those 1-1/2- 2-1/2 year olds walk. After a deer hits 2-1/2-3 years old well you guys see the difference. Well educated and guys understanding what it take to get 140+ deer mean you need to let the younger bucks walk. The mentality of the hunters in our neck of the woods is 3 points pull the trigger, then those same guys are the first to bytch there ain't no big bucks around unless you go into the development, no shyt Sherlock they are 2-1/2 or better in age. You guys have way better hunting ethics's and it shows!! Congrats guys!!

That’s how most the “meat hunters” are Pap, they’re the biggest naysayers of there being big deer in New York. The other ones that get me are the guys that shoot 1-1/2 year olds every year and put up a Facebook post saying “not as big as i hoped for but ya can’t eat the horns, now time to fill some doe permits!” As if they couldn’t have shot a 115lb doe instead of a 100lb buck

  9. Started sprinkling on my way into the driveway, pulled up in front of the garage to get changed and i was welcomed with a big white flag about 20 yards away at about 1:50. Never been a big believer in tinks etc but i grabbed some antler I’ve last night and did about a 300 yard drag to my stand and 2 wicks soaked around me. Not sure how it’ll work with this stiff swirling wind (something that you’re always fighting on this mountainside but hopefully the antler ice works as advertised and I️ can head out to Ohio next week for my week off.
