  1. Well as much as they dont want to truly admit it, they really only want singular or solitary recreational type stuff....Im trying to think logically for myself here. I do a lot of public Summer time events. I am a stage manager for Harborfest in Oswego. That is in late July. I work the State Fair (Where they are increasing it to 18 days) That is in August and I work Fright Nights Haunts starting in September.....These events draw 1000s of people of all ages...The State Fair with millions of people. With all thats going on now do I really think these events will be going on??. I dont know how they can...and get this. For anyone who has been to the New York State Fair recently, the new expo center building which is huge is now an emergency triage if this gets out of hand up here. they already have it set to go...
  2. Lol no its true.....They said he was killed trying to leave NYC (Like whats going on now) and he was shot at the top of the wall trump is building and fell back down onto the GW bridge lol...Now thats what I heard lol...Bottom line maybe we all just gotta stay put so we dont end up like snake lol...
  3. He's dead lol....thats what they say anyway lol.....
  4. Ever seen the movie "Escape from New York" with curt russell lol....We may be headed that way lol......BRING ON THE DUKE!!!!
  5. Thanks appreciate it....Obviously I wish I could be there but just outta respect for the whole situation its best to stay put for now....I can always show my new grand daughter what I did while she was being born with this video from yesterday....
  6. I knew there was something going on when the govt said "Anyone leaving the NYC AREA....and by area they mean AREA btw.....must quarantine themselves for at least 14 days once they reach their destination, I knew something was hitting the fan. And it does make sense that many downstaters (As I so rightfully call them from up here in hick country lol) do have cottages , camps summer homes etc...which they will flock too....Talk about a recipe for disaster...And no they wont quarantine themselves....Thats why they took off in the first place lol... Speaking of golf courses lol...It wont suprise me if they shut them down and here is why....We have had incidents in Syracuse where people are hanging out and partying in the parking lots of golf courses that opened up....Area locals who saw this complained to the county. As a result of this, the county exec put in an order that anyone can call 911 to report gatherings over 10 people and this gives the authority for the county sherriffs, local PD and of course our infamous New York State Police to go to the lots and break them apart....Again people always want to circumvent the system as we know... Something tells me big brother is going to come up with some new tighter guidelines cause if this is happening around here, imagine whats going on other places....
  7. thanks im 58 too lol...this is my first one. I was even willing to take my ex (my sons mother) to see her new joy but its really best we stay put. Ive been at home and by myself since this all started. My son even wants me to come down but I said no. He tells me the hospital has me on a list where I can go into the room....Something tells me thats not right lol...I mean who would want anyone from NY coming down to NC and going in a delivery room?? Even I say thats not good lol....
  8. I did find out yesterday the state park will remain closed for camping however you can get in for free to walk and excercise.....I went yesterday myself...Currently...and I stress that word. There really is no restriction on one say putting their boat in the water and going fishing.....but something tells me this all changes very soon once the season truly does begin if this gets worse....They only want recreation that institute's social distancing and lets be honest the type of fishing everyone on here wants to do goes completely against social distancing lol.....Maybe we should all be respectful for now and stay home and fish in your local areas.....
  9. But you can still contract the virus if you come up here.....And the scary part is you may contract i on your way here or on your way home if you hit a rest stop type thing. The govt is basically asking everyone to suffer for now. My son is having my first grandchild. He lives in NC. I live up in fair haven. I am supposed to go there april 8th for the delivery...Out of respect for my own health as much as anyone around me I am staying home. Yes I can go out and fish here, yes I can hop in my kayak and go fish or paddle with my swans and YES i have kept 100% away from everyone and this area is only got 3 cases in the county......But I dont feel good about driving down to NC and being there for two weeks and driving back here......I dont want to potentially infect others and I dont want anyone to unintentionally infect me. Charter captains should consider knitting for now....The last thing anyone wants is "Our wondrous customers" having their glory of catching a fish only to infect others locally.....And that will happen because of the demographics that 99% of fishing in our region of lake ontario mostly comes from way outside the counties we are in up here......As in your case NW NJ We probably will get some restrictions on that once the season truly opens....For now be respectful of others please and do not try and segregate your situation as "ok"........Its not...All it takes is one trip to burger king and you have it ....or to your local store to get your "supplies".....for that matter Hell I dont even want to drive thru PA one of the busiest travel thru states on the east coast........Stay home for now please. Its best for everyone imo
  10. Lol yea that cant be easy nowadays....
  11. 99 % of the humans that come into our area are from either out of state or more than 5 counties away. And im not even going to touch on the charter captains who themselves come from afar (some even from the downstate nyc area) yet alone their customer base.....the DEC did put out a memo on boat fishing. they want people to keep the six foot distance (one rod length) while in the boat.....but otherwise indicated no issues.....Someone please show me a charter boat that can hold 5 customers at 6 feet apart lol....Im no mathematician lol....but I think Ill fail this test lol.. Its going to boil down to..Will the sportsmen, fisherman, camper etc, have common sense.......and maybe lay low for awhile so large groups over 50 dont potentially spread this virus in these small lake shore towns.....Personally I think this all goes away by june if we comply which means we could see a profitable july 4th....but it seems like that is even a stretch
  12. Im not sure how they are going to handle the state parks either. They may not open the campgrounds because they have communicable bathrooms and again they are doing social distancing which camping goes against that.. Definitely no beaches maybe july 4th but I even doubt that realistically... We will know more as time moves on. For now life is a ghost town. Restaurants closed except for to go and more are closing as this continues. And for what its worth the water level is high already.....
  13. Only the swans should be fishing now lol...they are imune.... fio
  14. So hear we are second of March, ive seen three flocks of geese, its 50 out, the ice drag races were cancelled due to lake of ice. and little snow on the ground. the water level looks normal to me one way or the other. We do have a ways to go yet but for now we should take this as a sign of soon to come lol....That i s all I have to say now lol....Hope everyone has had a nice winter. For me it went by quick.
  15. f Fishing has been awesome. Some as heavy as 30 been sneaking around. Once you get out to 225 fow they are scattered all over. Meat, spoons etc all work well. We mostly marked fish in 90 down. The trend should continue as the water recedes It is still up there but very fishable. No fishing license needed until labor day and the park is half off. Go get em!....
  16. The water is receding At least I dont have to swim to get to my boat lol. FIshing has been Summer patterns, some find them some dont. Those that do are in the 150 to 180 range 90 ft down. Last week most caught Browns believe it or not. Not too many salmon as of late. Looks like very little rain coming our way and they are finally letting water out of the lake. Personally I would hate to be affiliated with the Joint commission from this point on. lol...NY state is going to be right up their ass come Fall when its time to drain the lake.
  17. The thing is loaded with rock bass and other fish. But I didnt fish this trip
  18. Im not gonna lie here lol. This rain has got to go.Were pretty flooded, none like ive ever seen. Everyone can have an opinion on the flood but for me I just have to look toward "Nature" as it intends to be. So I figured with this brief lapse of rain this am I would step back into Nature and see if I could find anything good outta all this. I took my kayak into the Sterling Creek for my annual trip. Crystal clear water, spawning carp, birds of all kinds just lined the creek. The high waters actually gave me passage way into some hidden tributaries that normally would not be accessible by any means. Everything as far as Nature was concerned was coping well.
  19. I believe that it still is but its best to call the park directly since this is a day to day basis.....Right now they are still discussing the situation in Oswego. As much as they want to accommodate everyone to the best of their abilities, liabilities rule here. They cant have people on those docks at their own risk particularly when it comes to charter boats....Major liability there particularly when it comes to charter business customers....Im sure they will put out more information as they gather it but for now this is where we stand.
  20. This afternoon Wrights landing in Oswego closed indefinitely and all boats need to be evacuated.. As a result there is a lot of scrambling going on particularly with the bigger boats that do not have trailer systems. That being said, here is a statement from Scott and Kim at Bayside Marina. As far as local launches are concerned im not certain about the State Park but the local launches are really flooded and really not conductive to safe boating...The water will recede eventually. Everyone just needs to work thru this for now...
  21. And the flooding continues......As of right now West Barrier Bar is shut off because it looks like a swimming pool, Yesterday as the storms rolled in the water literally rose 8 inches in 10 minutes to the point where my "Sea Otter" which was on dry grass almost started to float lol.
  22. The launches are open and fishing is fine. Picked this little guy up today right outside the chute...The recent rain and winds spread the fish out more. You just need to find them..
  23. Wow six years to the day! how fast it goes. Today is the 6th anniversary of this thread. Thanks to all your input, this thread has become one of the most popular if not the most popular thread on this site. Over 200K plus views and over a thousand posts! Not to mention the awesome information this thread has created as it was intended to do! Lets see if we can make it to ten years...Then we will have a huge party lol... That being said the Fog pulled in this am shut down the fishing. The few that went out came back in due to the calmness of the water. Maybe tomorrow. Kudos to everyone once again for making this a very informative thread... Carmen (Mr. Clean)
  24. Absolutely the state park is the best for boaters not familiar with the area. There are local launches but start there first...
  25. Lets not everyone get paranoid lol. Yes the water is high it will recede its not like 2017... Here is a copy from Bayside Marinas page....Dont jump ship people it aint all that bad despite what some say lol "Contrary to any rumors Bayside Marina WILL be launching boats daily regardless of flood water levels. We have the equipment and the resources to make it possible to get everyone in the water. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the office staff at 315-947-5773. HIGH water will not compromise our launching schedule."
