  1. I have a Cestliner 16.5 fish hawk. It has a 55 suzuki on the back and a 5 hp shaksper kicker with steering link. I just put a new fish finder on it batteries are only 2 years old. New wireing with a battery switch. 2 big jhon down riggers electric. 2 Scotty rod holders. I just re did the floor. It has new fule lines and a water sep. Fule filtter. Carbs were just done this spring runs great. I did a ton of work because I was going to keep it for a few more years but I am looking at getting a larger boat. I was thinking 5000 has a trailer. I am in brantford, ontario [email protected]
  2. Seems like sd are the way to go. But we have had some luck with spoons.
  3. Hit the water early this morning. Before we got all the rods set hit a little coho. Second fish was a nice one. Then we lost another 20plus just next to the boat. And finally a 25lb 6oz King. Biggest out of my little boat. We landed. A few nice bows. Aswell. Started out at 6am. Fished till 10am. Spin doctors down 60 and 70 in 80 and 120 feet of water. Rainbows off nk spoon down 40
  4. Was on the water at 5:30 went a little east but basically straight out to 170 ft of water but did not mark much. Worked my way to shallower water and quickly had 4 fish in about 30 minutes in 130-150 ft of water. All fish were caught on downrigger down 40-60 ft, crabface moonshine, black/purple Nasty Boy. Moved into 110 ft of water and got a 21 lb salmon on a white SD with green dots and white fly on the wire dipsy. Managed a few more but things were slow between 10:00 and 3:00. Managed one more around 4:00, this 23.6lb king took the same white/green dot SD and white fly. Lost a screamer to end the day hit chrome frog SD with green krinkle fly on wire dipsey. He ran me out to 370 ft and my wire jammed, chased the fish and got most of my line back but fish went under the boat and I lost him, difficult to chase fish by yourself. In the end went 10/13 out on the water from 5:30-5:00, best day this year can't wait to respool my wire and get out again. Not my post it's quoted from a spoonpullers post... Good luck
  5. June 8, 50 point « on: June 09, 2013, 11:12:00 PM » QuoteModifyRemove Fished from 8am till 3pm went 4 for 8. Worked water 80 to 160 feet marking a few fish. Lost 2 rainbows of planners. One smaller king 12lbs on a flasher and fly. 3 coho on j-plugs and 2 little salmon lost to netting mishaps. Lol not a bad day weather was great overcast kept it cool. Looks like the fishing is heading in the right direction
  6. I was out in grimsby today fishing 30 feet to 180 feet. Had two tip ups but no hool ups. Been slow but the water is starting to warm to a nice temp. Hopefully things start heating up next week.
  7. Out fishing Grimsby today water was 43F down to 41F in a few spots. I was out for about 4 hours got one small coho on a green ripplin red fin. Will taste great with a beer for dinner tonight.
  8. Agreed. I don't have a live well but that sounds like a good option
  9. Port Dalhousie may be productive. Also the niagara river is a good place to fish. There are a few charters on the river this time of year. Good luck.
  10. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/index.php/topic/35027-hows-the-steelheading-gannycobourgshelter-valleywilmot/#entry224455. This might be your best bet. Don't forget to buy an outdoors card.
  11. Wind 15 knots, water 37F-39F Depths 5 feet-50 feet. More of a shake down test for the boat did a ton of work on her over the winter got. I was out for 4 hours got skunked with two other boats I talked to. Water clarity was poor, and cold. Still nice to get out.
  12. I looked online and found a course near my house it was two days can't remember the price. It was at the hailton sailing squad I think. As far as I know you need an operators card no matter where on the lake you are I have been checked out of 50 point once last year.
  13. I've never been to bronte's launch but I think they have a public one... 50 point and jordan station are open but they are kinda far from mississauga
  14. Very nice! I can't wait to get out on the water I was planning on going out for my first trip in april... but maybe I can sneek out before then
  15. Lol that gives me a lot to think about. Thankfully there is no rush.
  16. Thank you for the input everyone.
  17. My plan is to use the boat on Lake Ontario and will be mostly trolling. I figured that bigger was better but wasn't sure if there was a big difference in handling rougher water.
  18. Looking around priceing a new boat. Is there a big difference between an 18 and a 20? The price difference is between 6k and 10k, deppending on make and modle... My question is, is it worth the extra cash for the extra 2'?
  19. Do you guys run your spoons that far off the ball all year or just in the spring when your fishing shallow?
  20. I have a 165 crestliner and use a 5hp single for my kicker. I am careful what days I go out and make sure that I have my vhf for saftey. If the weather got bad in a little boat like mine I don't know that my 50 hp would get me back.
  21. its and aluminum boat. I thought about useing a simple plug but I want to make sure that it will not leak because it will be hidden once the floor has been replaced.
  22. I am removing te live well on my boat... It's older and never worked so it is just eating space that I can use for more practical storage. My question is the inlet to the old livewell i going leave a hole for me to plug. What is te best way to seal this up so I have no leak worries?
  23. interesting artical captin ace. Thanks everyone for your input
