  1. Sent a email he responded quickly. Thanks have to try the mods out and see
  2. So I picked up a set of boards and for some reason only my starboard board tracks well. My port board is not running correct it doesn't pull hard to the side it kinda pulls a little side ways through the water. Any tips on what might fix this or what is causing this?
  3. You can use two rods on the main lake in Canadian waters
  4. I was shopping their website a few weeks back and when I went to check out no shipping to Canada. Is there any chance that I can get these north of the border any time soon?
  5. I spend thousands a year to fish for these amazing fish. A quick signature and a small donation is a small price to pay to get the wheels moving in the right direction.
  6. Thank you. Spring is almost here!
  7. So when you guys store you boats in the water at what temp is it okay to leave it in? I have an outboard engine and am wondering once the day time highs are all in the positive and the odd night time low is in the negative is it okay to leave you boat in? Also is there anything you need to protect your engine if you are leaving it moored in early spring, putting it in and out is not a option so I am wondering how long will I be waiting before I can put her in for the season.
  8. I used 2 gallons to do both sides on my floor of my 16' it will never rot... 2 coats it has a ton of grip
  9. I put durabak on my last boat lots of colour options lots of grip. Marine specific product line. Good to work with smells a lot though
  10. I have a similar bracket and if you keep the motor locked in the center position not turned to the side. Then trim it up it stays fairly still even in rough seas although it does bounce around a bit for my liking. I am not sure but mine is a 4 stroke bracket and it does not flex under the weight of my Yamaha t8 extra long shaft, I think the motor is around 100#
  11. I have 3 talora rods one with an old Diawa non line counter on it one with a Catalina and one with a Coldwater. They all seem to seat fine with out being over tight and have not noticed any play. Used for one season only though
  12. So I went to a local seminar and the captian that was giving the presentation says he does not reference is down speed to his sog... He said that he goes by the down speed on his probe and when he gets information about down speed he needs to know what unit the operator is using so he can extrapolate that data for use with his unit. He metioned that the fish hawk reads higher then the sub troll and the depth raider. My question is when reading about down speed in keatings books do I need to know the unit he was running or have these numbers been translated to sog as the reference speed. Its easy enough to drop the probe and see that it runs .2 or .4 mph faster and just subtract for calibrated speed... The question I ask is what do you guys do on your boats. I just got a fish hawk over the winter and I would like to optimise its productivity.
  13. Do you find you are using the 4.375" more so then the 3.5" in the spring time? I have found 4" to be the most productive on my other stick baits
  14. How do the hooks hold up against raibows and coho? I have had to replace the hooks on some of my sticks because they cheap out on hooks. They do look like some nice baits, I would like to pick a few up.
  15. I just finished making and installing my stainless keels for my homemade boards. Hope they work as planned, but building stuff and tweaking it is part of the fun
  16. I ran mono for a few seasons to save a few bucks and did have success. It was tough to set the dipsy realse up right to allow it to trip with all that stretch and if you get 200' of line out it can be a pain... Sometimes they would work great sometimes not so much. Last spring I up graded one of my setups to try wire and this winter I just setup another one there is a huge difference they work great. You can use mono, but if you go with wire you will be much happier with the results I think
  17. Thanks for the imput looking forward to testing it out.
  18. Does everyone use these supplied cables to their balls when running? Or do you manufature a short section of downrigger cable?
  19. I think that mine are berts reels they are a little heavier duty then the big jon reels and won't break the bank
  20. I made small brackets to hold the upper pulley in place. Seems to work well I made home made boards and they still need a little tunning but I am happy with the setup
  21. I got a baitcaster a few years back and after a little learning curve you will find them very easy to use. If you spend one day casting large spiner baits or large crank baits you will instantly see the benifit. Its not a need, but it is nice to have
  22. I have a 22' seapro and a T8 yamaha 4 stroke on the back. It works well on nice days but works hard when the wind is up. I would suggest going a little larger if its in the budget
  23. I think they are a small company I called them up last winter and ordered items that they stocked and recived them within a week. I would say they will not screw you but you may have to wait... Hopefully you receive them soon.
