Launched at the south end, very shallow and no docks in yet. The owner showed up and said he should have them in next week. South end was muddy out to 45' we tried the mud line for a bit but temps were a high of 38 there. The temp on the surface for most of the lake was 35 degrees. Figured the fish would be in the deepest part of the lake with bait. Sure enough we hit 170' and there were Lakers scattered on the bottom and up to 120'. Sent down ff on rigger and a mag dipsy back 330', both took multiple fish in the 100-120' range. Ended up limiting on Lakers with one that topped ten lbs. I screwed up and tried to lift him in the boat with the 30lb cheater, lost a purple FLT alpha alewife and the fish !! He was the only fish we caught up high 50' and it was a tank! Also lost a really nice fish in shallow 40' on a seven color, so I'd say that area would be worth exploring too. Had picked up some fat heads and tried for walleye but they were no where to be found. Fun day on my favorite lake! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

That one the young lady is holding is an oldy but a goodie! We have a small group of guys that has been shed hunting for years. I'll pull some pics from them and post. My 14yr old dog 'Sheddy' I originally trained to pick up sheds but when she was two I introduced her to tracking downed deer. She goes with me still but could care less about a little bone, but she has found lots of dead ones! My best year was 24 sheds with her help. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Ended up at Cayuga, slow day overall, two Lakers, one bow a few little salmon and a Brown. Guys out at Milliken and Taughannock out in the 38 degree water with waders, those boys are more diehard than me! Lake ended up being flat calm. Tried shallow and deep, water was crystal clear up around Sheldrake bit more stained toward the south. 38.7 surface temp. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Any recent lake trout reports?
Nautitroller replied to Upstate Extremes Outdoors's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Welcome to LOU, Cayuga and Seneca both should be fishable. Mag dipsy with FF, bump bottom around 100' deep, or spoons in shallow, 50' they should be hungry. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
I'd say its not what it used to be, if shore fishing I'd try Taughannock. Wind looks to be forecasted out of the North I'd stop into KH recycle center and get bait fish a slip bobber and throw a krockodile. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

South wind at 10 mph will get some 2-3' white caps. If you have a smaller boat get there early run south n troll back North with the waves. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Mag dipsy with a FF out 300' will get you Lakers. North was better last week, spotty around Kidders Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

The TX have a pinch pad on the front and a spring loaded pin in the back. They can't come off but their pinch pad can release the line letting the board slide back torward the fish. Offshore tackle planer boards have a pin in the middle of the pinch pad not allowing it to release, sucks having to go back and get a board. Some of the older boards I have I put a large snap swivel on the back so it can't come off the line. Running different sized boards can give the lead core or copper different actions with different wave conditions. Sometimes my smallest TX is hot cause it gets pulled under a bit and gives the line a bit of a jerking action. Good luck! You may have a board release on a big fish if so when that board goes under and is pulling with the fish, no fun!! Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

What is your go to lake trout spoon?
Nautitroller replied to Greenhead's topic in Tackle and Techniques
To answer this is like trying to say which donut does a pig like the best. My experiments in the finger lakes have shown that there is a time and place for each technique to catch Lakers. During their peak feeding times anything will work just get em to see it. When the bite starts to slow paddles, sd and fly's bumping bottom changing speed sometimes is key. Changing your total presentation by running flutter spoons ( Suttons, Millers, Great lakes lures, flat fish ect.) and running slow 1.7-1.9 may be the key to triggering the full bellied fish. Then again somedays they are just done eating for a while. For me a go to spoon that I would say is one of my favorites is FLT's Bob Barker! Come on down greaser! maybe just cause the name is cool! I was in Montana last year and met a ranch owner that has thousands of black Angus and runs a guide business for elk, deer. He said the wolves don't kill the elk to eat they wear the whole herd down by not letting them ruminate. Thus killing most of the herd. The guy was struggling to make a living and busted his butt as a rancher. I think I would be a bit upset if wolves were introduced on my ranch and I had no way to keep them in check. He pays a huge tax bill on his land but our controlling government stops him from managing it. Oh yea he loses a bunch of calves each year too..
