  3. I will release the big ones and eat the 18-22" ers. I filet them with care to not let the guts touch the meat, rinse my board a lot and keep them ice cold prior to fileting. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  8. Launched solo out of Treman early Sat am. Set up running bright sticks and a purple alpha alewife in 13'. The spoon fired twice off a shallow rigger before a stick even moved so I pulled the sticks and ran three FLT aa purples, that proved to be a good choice. Lots of small salmon with one that broke 19". Lost a really nice salmon and got a 4.5 lb Brown to the net. That was all before 8am. Pulled lines and headed to Laker land in front of salt plant, not even one pass and had three in the boat, while reeling in the last fish my rigger fired and had my fourth ( released to fight another day). Hot ticket was a iron duke fly not sure of the name with some green and yellow glow, and the gold n purple " dressed to kill" I've shortened my fly leads down to 22" and that seems to be the ticket. Then again maybe the bite is just picking up, lol. The Lakers were full of sculpin or gobies, hard to tell so digested. The meat is dark orange and very tasty! See you FLTA guys Sunday at Keuka... 10. Cool new web site Mike, awesome looking flies at a very reasonable price!
  11. Experiment with that in the depth you want right behind the boat, if it ticks bottom in 17' then you know the depth it runs, speed will make a difference. I'd bet with the rats you would have a few feet of diving depth but speed will make a difference. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    Canandaigua FLTA 5/1

Congratulations to all at Canadaigua that caught fish. Brent C. had a phenomenal bag with a big 6-11 bow and the lunker laker that tipped the scales at just over 11lbs. Josh B. and Mike B. rounded out the top three. Great fishing guys! We started out on the south end marking a nice pod of bait in 75' of water. besides that the screen was blank in shallow and out deep. Decided to try the south end a bit longer and even the chute but only marked a few fish deep. I post this because this is our first skunk at a FLTA event, sometimes you are the windshield sometimes you are the bug, this weekend we were the bug! Jim T had a beauty of a laker that looked like 15lb fish but tipped the scales at 10-14, beauty Jim! Lots of beautiful bows weighed in and a nice brown or two. Keuka next!

  16. X2 with my son, now married and in the service he loves venny and fish, but has always had me get it and cook it for him. I hope the legacy of loving the outdoors passes on but it's a new generation. I know what I tried to instill will stick, but maybe its his son that will pick up the ball and run with it. Either way I'm very proud of him and love him! Guess I have to keep killing stuff to eat and provide. I'll be the huckleberry, Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  18. Yes absolutely! An opossum can take out multiple nests, usually 12-14 eggs at a time. When it's a wet spring they track the hens easier by scent trailing them to their nest. They, skunks and raccoons are the biggest killers of turkeys. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Another huge thanks to Andy! Sent out a convector to repair a broken anti reverse, he sends it back in no time with no charge! Offered to pay shipping.. 21. The temp wasn't quite to the optimal 50 degrees (46.5) for spawning alewifes. but in the skinny water was where the fish were, it was a bit warmer there in 10'-15'. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  25. Yes sir, the guy running solo weaving in and out of boat traffic trying to get those little salmon off , lol! I saw some really big fish swirling at bait up shallow. You have a nice rig, as the morning went on the boat traffic got heavy. Used to be everyone would run east West and turn but it seemed everyone wanted to run North south or whatever way.
