  1. Headed out in the morning, weather looking pretty decent. The two times I got out last week in between the storms wasn't much to be found East or West, found a few way down out over 250 fow. Any one got good news from yesterday, today or tonight. Much appreciated Thanks
  2. Its been a while since I really took a look at some of my equipment and trying to develop better techniques I'm wondering what most of you use the less action or more action hole on a Spin Doctor or is there more that comes into play like time of season and water depth or type of fish? Usually I'm out there hoping to hook anything, all replies appreciated.

  4. I'm wondering what is the best way to run a second lure or stick bait on the same rod when hooking up to a church tackle tx22 planner board, looking for ways to attach that second lure to the main line first with out getting it tangled or dropping down to first bait. More bait in the water more the chances just don't want to fight a mess all the time, just want to do it right. All replies appreciated.
  5. I believe at some point in time I saw a list that someone had put together, a breakdown list of what Lures were best to use on over cast days, sunny days etc etc for lake Ontario. Any one have one or remember where it might be? Much appreciated for the help.
  6. Starting to give some thought to the nicer weather and getting ready for the new season of fishing, its the only thing that seems to ease the reality of what a harsh and cold winter we have had. I know many seem too feel the same. I'm wanting to install a VHS marine radio on my Yamaha G3 SPORT & FISHING BOAT this year, I fish out of Oswego. I usually do not venture more than a couple miles at most from port. I've used a hand held but I want the DSC function and my Elite GPS to be incorporated into it, for my size of boat I'm wondering what are some of the good ones, recommended heights, easy removable ones. " has to be removable to put my canvas on" and any other information fellow fisherman would like to share about smaller boat VHS radio and antenna's. All replies are deeply appreciated.
  7. I’m noticing the fish coming up river and some catching them but haven't heard any lake reports since the blows. Wondering if they finally started staging .I’m planing on going out a couple more times, the weather and lake are suppose to nice the next several days. Any reports would be appreciated.
  8. http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/LO/044.html?MR=1 http://citylighthouse.dyndns.org:81/top.htm?Currenttime=2014-04-08 08:15:37 two sites, one gives a view of oswego harbor you can tell the waves off the breakwall and wind and activity the other wind and wave and much other info. There may be a web cam closer to your area too.
  9. I've been using it on two rods since I was picking up flea's two weeks ago on my braid,I also have two with Cortland on it.Wanted to try something other than the Cortland oval stuff. The blood Run is round but also very slippery, tying a good not was hard untill you get use to it.The major factor I found so far I was using blacks release's,the web site said to make sure you wrap it like 10 times before putting it in the release,"slippery issue"I found that wrapping it that many times caused a mess and didn't release, had a couple fish dragging a long.I went to two wraps yesterday and it released fine.Guess every ones situation will be different but that was my experience using it for the first time.
  10. I was checking out the Lowrance website for some info regarding my Elite 7 HDI and came a cross a software upgrade just released July 2nd 2014 for Mark & Elite models, web site will tell which ones.I know many of you have the new Elite's like mine just wanted to share this for those that were not aware.Good luck fishing!! http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Software-Updates/Elite-40/
  11. poor Godzilla gets all the bad raps,my thought is if there is a shark out there he won't be hungry, maybe some indigestion from all that hardware and line.
  12. I'm out in Tucson and Vegas visiting my career minded Air force son, hot ,hot, hot 104 in the shade, looking forward to getting back out on the lake when I get back next week, wasn't much fishing going on off Oswego before I left last week, in fact I was using the web cam and a lot of boats stayed docked this past weekend. All updates are appreciated. Good luck Fishing
  13. Thanks for the heads up report, got stuck waiting this one out last year.
  14. I've enjoyed reading several posts and ideas of understanding how to see your downrigger balls and thermocline and such with the Elite 7. I've had mine since last year and still trying to understand what specfic adjustments are made to see the above,I have also seen mentioned how you can pick up lake trout 90 feet down near the bottom with the unit, can't seem to get there if thats possible. I've been told that many fishermen are using the Elite 7 and I thought I would ask the more experienced for some help. All replys are deeply appreciated.
  15. Im wondering what happend to the web cam that views out over Wrights landing, its not loading up on any site.Handy little gadget for many of us before they load up and drive down. Thanks all
  16. Im curious as to how are you locating them or are you just trolling away at the above mentioned areas,Im still learning how to use my new Elite 7 to locate fish on the bottom,I here it a sensitivity issue. I have used cowbells in the past my problem is with the drag they create,it was hard to get the rigger release set right so it wouldn't go off with the tension, then sometimes it seems I would hit something near bottom and there gos the set up,I've posted before asking what the structure is out there but no replys, hopefully with this downscan that will make that easier, what size cowbells do you use? have you ever tried jigging for them out there? Thanks
  17. It seems like it happened 5-6 times last summer as I was headed to Wrights landing in Oswego to launch my boat only to find out it was closed because of some event going on or there was no parking because of a fishing tournament, Im not sure if these events are posted any where for public knowledge but instead of turning around and going home im wondering if there are any other launchs within a few miles of Wrights landing, especialy hard to go back home when the lake is calm,im sure we would all agree on that. All replies are appreciated
  18. Jump starting ahead, I would like to store my 2013 Yamaha G3 FS 17.5 inside this year for winter, Fulton ,Oswego area,Looking for reasonable price indoor storage. Its been mentioned that many people have pole barns and such some looking to make a few extra bucks over the winter. Boat and trailer is approx,22 ft long 9 feet wide and 8 feet high to top of winshield. All replies appreciated
  19. Im going to try some new stuff this year and one I hope is casting, bottom bouncing in the spring when fish are in shallow, looking at gear to accomadate the area and type of fishing.Im trying to figure out what struture exactly lies on the bottom, 20-40 and deeper for the summer out of Oswego, straight out,East and West,is it mostly rocks, sand? I bought a new Lowarance Elite last year and have yet to master it to understand what the bottom looks like.Last summer was hard and I want something new when I go out early as a means to catch fish. Appreciate all replys. Thanks
  20. Im trying to get a early jump on new methods and knowledge to become more experienced at this new found enjoyment of big fish fishing, fishing out of Oswego last summer on several occassions I noticed many fishermen coming in with little or no fish at all only to see some of the charter captians coming in with lake trout when many other types of fish couldn't even be found or marked,I guess I have several questions because I got the impression that lake trout are hard to find on a fish finder"I have the new Lowrence Elite 7" Some say they are way down, hard to locate, whats the trick to find them? understanding that time of year and the weather patterns change suddenly out there sometimes a lot and fast makes a differance in locating any thing, one deck hand mentioned charter captains have many tips and tricks, then I was told that instead of trolling that you can jig for them when they are way down.I guess Im in need of some schooling, how do you find them, how do you know which fish are what and once you find them what are the techniques to catch them including jigging for them. All replies are deeply appreciated. Thanks
  21. This past year on many occassions it was awful difficult to get out on Lake ontario to fish due to the high winds and waves im wondering about how the fishing and waves and wind might be on other lakes like Cayuga,Owasco, and such that have similiar fish as lake Ontario.Possible boat lauch sites on these lakes too.Planning already for next season. All replies are deeply appreciated.
  22. I've looked high and low for a local station that can inspect a boat trailer,Im coming up with zipo, Im being a little proactive and my new boat won't be out of storage till around April 1st 2014 but the inspection runs out the month before so I was hopeing that I could find a place in the Fulton,Oswego area where I could hoepfully drive up and get er done,I do most of my fishing out of Oswego.Any help would be deeply appreciated
  23. Fishing out of Oswego yesterday marking fish all over the place only to get two hits an nobody home, from what I hear that was the same for most, what I did see is what I believe is what every one refers to as the lake turning over,at first it looked like dark clouds of schools of fish coming out of the west through green water then blowing right by the boat, this went on for a while yesterday late morning early after noon. The craziest thing was this monster king breaking surface three feet into the air on three different times,he was trying to get that lamprey off that was sucking the life out of him. Wish I had the camera on that one! Two more weeks left to fish then the boat goes in storage for the short winter a head lol. I had the oppertunity to talk to a few Charters the past few weeks and we looked back at last year in comparison to this summer,it seems that a lot of folks caught more fish in May and June, then in July and Aug this year while 2012 Aug was a very good month.I remember catching several and marking a lot last Aug, not so this Aug.Mother nature at its finist. Thanks to all that reply.
  24. I have used two sites to review the condition of the lake before I go out to fish, out of Oswego.I have talked to several other people who come from far and near only to find that what information was givin on Wunderground and data.gos.us/portal is not what they find when they get there. There are expenses, like hotels, food and such and travel time and gas.The data.gos site seems to get its info from the Suny bouy out of the harbor.I can't say how many times this info was way off like this morning Aug 19th 2013 with the 4 foot swells out there and the web sites both said .63 waves, not even close.Im wondering if there is a solution or something so people can have more precise knowledge of the true conditons,if these instruments aren't working correctly then they should be fixed. All thoughts appreciated.
