  1. Bought one.... Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody
  2. Thank you all for your advice.......some of you recommended a planer set up.......well, I just bought one from the classified section in this forum... Can't wait to get it, now all I need is a good set of boards and some releases. Now I have something else to learn how to use. Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody
  3. Not sure how understandable my explanation will be, so let me know if you need any more clarification. Let your line out to where you want to run it, then I wrap the line, mono, around my fingers three wraps, do a girth hitch with the rubber band through the middle of the loop and the three strands of mono. Now the other loop end of the rubber band is clamped in the jaws of the Roemers. When the fish hits, the Roemers doesn't release, the rubber band breaks. I hope this helps. Boat Safe Egoody
  4. Does anyone use rubber bands for planer board releases for browns in the spring? I see a lot of releases that look just like shower curtain clips and was thinking I could use these with rubber bands? I've used rubber bands on my Downrigger releases before ant they work pretty well. Any thoughts? Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody
  5. Hi, I use both the Roemers and the Chamberlains. When I use rubber bands on the Roemers, I tighten them down pretty well. I've never used rubber bands with the chamberlains, personally I prefer the release characteristics of the chamberlains. You can fine tune them throughout the release weight range pretty easily. Thanks And Boat Safe Egoody
  6. I've sent you an email re the planer mast. Please contact me 603-38one-0872 Thanks Boat Safe Egoody
  7. Looking for a 5-6 ft Big Jon planer mast with dual reels. Must be willing to ship to NH. Give me a call or PM with what you have. Also Picts would be great. 603- three-8-one-0-8-seven-2 Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody
  8. Thanks everyone for your information. A while ago I saw the posted chart for the dipsey depth vs line out chart, so I made a copy of it. I was thinking that running dipsey,s shallow would get another line in and out away from the boat a little farther than my down riggers and lead cores. I don't have a planer set up. We, the less experienced, really welcome everyone's help and information to our questions. Thanks And Boat Safe Egoody
  9. Hi, I'm new to dipsey use, so a couple of questions. There is a left and right setting on them. When set to the left, does that mean they are run on the port side? Another question, when setting the dipsey release, do you use a scale to set the release weight? Is there a setting that you start with? I'll be fishing for browns in May out of Fair Haven. Thanks for any information. Boat Safe Egoody
  10. I can't comment on the blacks release, but I've used used the Chamberlain release and swear by them. I also used the Roemers thy are why I went to the Chamberlains. Just my opinion. Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody
  11. They came today... Look great.....can't wait to drown them....c'mon May 6th.....Fairhaven here we come:>)) Thank you Bikinibottom, Boat Safe Egoody
  12. Mine were shipped on 2/27. Anxiously awaiting delivery...Gotta be patient I guess. Do have a question. On the "other" shark weights, it says not to attach your release to the shark itself but to attach it to the line above so it doesn't affect the tracking. Does the same apply to these? Assuming it does but wanted to ask others who have used these. Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody
  13. OKay...I have to ask... I haven't been in the business very long and there is a ton of new terminology to learn. What is an Agitator? Thanks Boat Safe EGoody
  14. I've had excellent results with Diawa Sealine 47"s. I have 7 of them. I picked up 4 on Ebay for around $35.00 each and then send them to Tuna Toms to be cleaned, lubed and replace anything that needed to be. TT are great people to work with and there prices are excellent. I only get to Lake O once a season & I get up to lake Champlain several time a year, but generally these reels see little use. Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody, Fitzwilliam, NH
  15. Mini Spin Dr, How big are they? I have regular SD's but haven't heard of the mini,s Egoody
  16. Is anyone using dipsey's for spring browns in shallow water? I don't have planer set up's for the boat. Thanks & Boat Safe Egoody
  17. I can't get over the amount of knowledge and the willingness to share it from everyone. I see this over and over on this forum, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who greatly appreciates this. Thank you and, Boat Safe Egoody
  18. Thank you for the chart. I'm not sure if it indicates how far off the side of the boat the dd will be running at the depth shown in the chart. I'm thinking the numbers in the body of the chart presents line out. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody
  19. Thank You All for the Dipsey replys. I expect there is a direct correlation between the number setting on the D D and the distance it runs away from the boat. I'm also sure boat speed plays into this, but does anyone have any information regarding this? Earlier someone said they may run 2 divers of the same side of their boat. Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody.
  20. Well, it sounds like I might be in trouble. Being new to using dipsey d"s I bought silver. I was trying to get the hang of them last year during brown season but never felt comfortable with them. I'll give them another go this spring . Boat Safe Egoody
  21. My New Boat I've been fishing for several years, but only as a guest in others boats. Two years ago bought my first and probably my last boat. I bought the LUND Sport Angler 1800 and couldn't be happier. I figured It could handle the conditions I felt were safe to be out in on Lake Ontario and Champlain plus any of the smaller lakes here in NH. Of course there have been days I couldn't get out, but I didn't see any other boats out on those days either. I set it up with 2 Cannon Mag 10 electrics, 4 Cisco Rod holders, VHF radio and an Elite 5 GPS/Fish finder. Being 66 years young I also needed a boat I could launch solo, that's why I chose the 18 1/2 footer. No matter what you buy, there will be pros and cons, so don't settle on just others comments. Buy the best you can afford for the type of fishing you want and then enjoy your time on the water. Boat Safe Egoody
  22. Can you run rubber bands directly from the clip on the paner line to the lead core? I've never used planer boards, but would like to try them this spring. Any other info regarding running a planer board would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and boat safe Egoody
  23. Will these work on the 10STX or has any one found any that will work? Any info would be great. Thanks and Boat Safe Egoody
  24. I've had 2 of the 10STX's for the last 2 years. Initially had a problem with the cable coming off the end boom swivels. I called Cannon and they immediately sent me 2 newly designed ones. No problem since. The only cable I've broken is when I got tangled up in the ball grabber on Champlain. Lost weight & 30 ft of cable. I put a Scotty brand cable on and everything has been fine since. I think the bounce is common with these just because of the speed. You can turn the brake loose a little to let the ball down manually, just don't let it get away from you. I really like these riggers and would recommend these. Thanks Boat Safe Egoody
  25. Does anyone have experience using 30# P-line as the main line trolling in lake O? Thanks and boat safe Egoody
