Wondering what people put on the inside stern of there boats behind the dog house. I am in the process of rebuilding the dog house and gunwales on my boat but am stuck for ideas for the stern. The gunwales and dog house were framed out and covered with plywood than covered with the infamous Flex seal roll on white paint. To my surprise came out extremely nice looking. Did not want to fiber glass but wanted to protect the wood. Anyway the stern section of my boat meets the gunwales sides in a curve and plywood won't make the bend. Any input appreciated thanks. I like moonshine and Michigan stingers on the finger lakes. Purple and white on cayuga lake are usally good. Alot of blue silver and green silver produce well to. Colors can vary from day to day. Flasher fly and spindoctor flies in the same colors produce well also. Don't get stuck on colors as much as presentation. Green purple blue will catch fish. Just a FYI any one needing equipment the gander mountain in Utica is closeing and everything in the store is marked down. 20 to 30 % and some things even more. Make sure bilge pumps work. Check check or replace water pump for the engine cooling system. Grease everything check bilge pump lines mice love anything small they can climb into. Check replace oil in motor and lower end unit. Anything you would check on any vehicle that has sat for 4 or 5 months but pay extra attention. Fishing with divers in my experience is far from scientific anyway. There are a ton of variables that effect your depth. That said I know on my boat my divers out fish my downriggers hands down. A mono dipsy out 2 or 300 ft you will never trip the dipsy to get it it in. You will have to real in the weight of the dipsy. And they create a ton of resistance at that depth. You will swear you are bringing a whale in. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

People will give you info. When people say they are marking fish at x depths and have x amount of line out you can duplicate what they are doing. Most of the time people are fishing with wire but useing and duplicating what they are doing with braid will get you alot closers to the fishes than you will with mono. And yes you can pop the dipsy useing a setting the hook motion but you won't be able to do that with mono if you are fishing at any real depth. If you want to find out what depth your braid diver is running troll in a certain depth of water and let out line until late your diver strikes bottom. Then you can figure out how much line you had out for what you are seeing on your radar and you will be able to make your own chart. I have noticed that a 3 to 1 ratio works with a size 1 dipsy set from 0 to 1 pretty close and after that 2 and 3 settings are 5 to 1. Hey moon fish regarding the mono on your dipsy lines the charts that come with the dipsy divers are not that accurate in my experience. I to am not a charter Captain and fish on a budget but there is a lot of knowledge on this sight that will help you get your lures to the desired depth useing braid or wire. You are setting yourself up for failure useing mono on a dipsy and I say this by doing it. Mono has way to much stretch which you will find out very first time you have to reel in a fish with the diver not tripped. Also the charts read for speeds of 3 MPH way to fast for trout in the finger lakes. I fish with both wire and braid dipsy but did try fishing with mono when I first started. You are going to be frustrated right of the bat. Take people's advice most of it comes from people realizing that something didn't work. Good luck to you. I would switch over to braid if I were you. If you like your 870 pump you will love a 760. Same gun same stock same basic feel only have the option of long distance shots if they are presented. I shoot the carbine version with 18 inch barrel I have a 3 x 9 scope with 50 mm objective to give me as big a sight picture as possible. However used to use a peep sight but noticed many times I wanted to get a better look at a deer and changed over to a scope. At close range shooting with a scope peep or iron sights is all snap shooting anyway so not sure that makes a difference. I do understand stand the I just always wanted one. But not sure you will be happy with the remington platform. I'm sure the newer ones are more reliable however for basically the same gun I would go with the pump over there semi. They look and carry almost identical. Again like a said before running shots on a deer are a common place with my hunting style. Go with the pump will be much happier than having a single shot semi auto. I say this from experience. Nothing worse than spending all day tracking to jump a buck and miss with your first shot and not have a speedy second because the gun jammed.
