  1. Remington 742 and 7400 series guns are nick named the jam o magic for reason. They jam and jam frequently. I'm not sure your reasoning behind wanting a semi but if it is for quick follow up shots may I suggest to you the 760 or 7600. Pump rifle are just as reliable as bolt actions and when useing the action the pumping motion brings the gun back down on your target for a fast follow up shot. The most favorable gun to all trackers and big woods hunters is a pump. I have both a 742 and a 760 in the carbine version and would take the 760 over the 742 any day. Just food for thought. If you take your semi and your pump and do aimed follow up shots I bet you won't see a difference in speed. Just my opinion been hunting the big woods of the Adirondack s and do absolutely no stand hunting where i hunt now for most of my life and have had very few times where my 760 let me down. Can't say the same about the 742. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Also most hemlock stands traditionally are old growth in this area. They are also generally found in swampy areas. These areas often times have a little of mosses that are nutritious for the animals. Ferns also will remain green under the snow and deer will migrate to these areas to paw for these foods. The benefit is 2 fold. The hemlock s shelter them and reduce the amount of snow making it easier for them to paw for food. However if the winter becomes hard enough that the deer are eating only hemlock browse because they can't reach anything else chances are the deer heard is going to suffer some losses Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  4. Hemlock is horrible for deer to eat. It only fills the void or makes them not be hungry . I used to do field work for the state up in wanakena for deer density and winter kill and numerous times found deer that had starved to death with stomachs full of hemlock needles. While tipping one over for increased cover is a good thought it actually isn't helping them food wise. Find a crooked red maple or better known as soft maple and tip that over next to the hemlock tree. Then you have given them shelter and good browse with nutrients that will help them threw the winter. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  6. I have a small 14 foot boat with narrow beam I run 4 divers and 2 down riggers out of. Have never used anything but dipsy divers but have no complaints with them. The mag rings are alot more pull than a standard ring I would rather run a standard ring. You can achieve the depths you are looking for with a standard ring. Also make sure you run wire or braid on the diver rods way to much stretch in mono. I personally like divers better than riggers just.my personal preference. 11. With that said running the dodger in reverse will work if your speeds are higher. You will know if you got it right when you put it in the water. Dodgers shouldn't spin alot. More of a thumping dodge hence the name. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Sorry I was back wards with the spiral wire or cork screw. That goes toward the flies or lure for quick changes. Just reverse what I said in previous post. Dodgers like pro trolls will have a small side and a big side. Big side toward lure small side to the pole. Sorry about the mix up. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Dodger goes small end towards the boat or pole. Many dodgers like lure jenson will have a swivle on one end and a spire wire attached to the swivle on the other. The spiral wire goes toward the boat or pole. It's made.like that so you can tie a loop on your terminal end and thread it on to the dodger don't have to keep tying not sure for quick changes.of color. 17. Dipsy at 200 to 230 if on a 1 will get you down in the 70 to about 80 range. With braid or wire on a 1 figure 3 ft out for 1 foot down approximately. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  21. If that is route you go drill a bunch of half inch holes about 2 inches from the bottom the whole way around the bucket helps it track better in the water. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Drag 5 gallon buckets makes a cheap easy trolling bag. I drag 4 on my big boat. 2 off the front cleats and 2 directly off each corner of the stern. You will be surprised how much that will slow you up. Also helps with boat controlled in ruff water. Good luck. At least you didn't get skunked.
