  1. I just checked the link above and the sound isn't coming through on my phone... I tried cutting and pasting into Safari and it couldn't find the server. Anyway, just search "diy tattle flag planer board" and it sound come up. It's 2:04 long and by Jordan Porritt Fishing.
  2. I found that video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pLqcnvIxym0 Also, I really like the tattle flag... It works well (even my homemade ones) just remember to leave slack between the clips so the line can pull the flag when a fish hits.
  3. I have the same inline boards. I have a pair for port and starboard. I gathered materials for the tattle flag system at lowes for $5ish and rigged all four. There's a YouTube video about it. No need to spend $25 a piece for off shore's system.
  4. Thanks pap... Anyway you want to include your test info?! [emoji51] with 2 little ones at home I don't have the time to go out and test!!! The logic makes sense and I will get a feel for it, but a shove in the right direction won't hurt a bit! [emoji23]
  5. Thanks Addict... Will definitely keep that in mind, but good to know I can use some of my short cores in other applications. We all spend enough $, it's good to know more ways to use it!
  6. On a side note... I guess I should've put "stick bait" or "crank bait" in my original post! Lol!!! Would've saved a little confusion from the start! Great info... keep it coming! love this site!!!
  7. Sk8man, I knew that there was way more to running depth... but wanted to keep the post short. I will add more details on the next time I post a question. I'm mainly thinking of using my short colors for walleye when they go deeper, so 12 or 15 lbs 50' leader. I have to check my spool of core for the size, but thanks for the tips. Paul, that's what I was looking for. Do you have any tips on leader length, targeted and achieved depth?
  8. I'm referring to running a deep diving lure, like a reef runner, on a leadcore set up. I have wire on my dipsey rods and use the magnum size dipseys.
  9. First, if this has been discussed please direct me to the proper thread. And the question: Can you use leadcore with a deep diver and achieve greater depth? Say I run a diver that goes 15' deep on a 2 color... Will that add up to 25' down?
  10. Anyone remember the site or company they used?
  11. Awesome advice as always from the members of LOU. I'll do some research, get what I need, and will gladly take you up on the offer FT. Thanks!
  12. Anyone know if there's a place or person to put a boat name on? Or tips? The project is a bit more than just slapping a name on... I'm looking to remove the Trophy lettering from the sides of my 1802 wa, then want to put "Puffer II" over where the old letters were. I read that when you remove old lettering, you'll see the outline of them. Whether it does or doesn't show, I still want the name there and probably port on the back. I am pretty handy, so if you've done something like this and it's relatively straightforward let me know. All tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  13. Great winter project. I have one of my own with a 14' 1966 Starcraft. Boat I grew up fishing in and my grandfather left it to me. Your pics gave me an idea, the 25 horse engine has no distinguishing markings. I believe it's either a mariner or Yamaha. When I get it on a stand I'm gonna post pics and see what the guys say. Good luck with your project. Happy you found the make!
  14. That sucks. I remember the last time we fished, kicking the bilge on a bit. Happy you found the leak, but not happy for the situation the Reel Happy is in. As many others said, I hope Tracker treats you right. And does it in a timely fashion. If not... I'll leave the keys to my Trophy in your hand for the weekends I'm not around. If you need a smaller rig to get out in. It's not rigged to the gills like the Happy, but it's got enough on it to do well. I know how hard you fish and couldn't imagine you not out there. Anyway, good luck with it. And we're watching Tracker, we're watching!
  15. Thanks for all the replies... I know there are a ton of factors that go into it, boat speed, ball weight + shape, current, etc... Just trying to get a general feel for what guys are posting so I can get myself set up and run... New to the game and super excited! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. Hey guys... Newbie question here. When people are writing about downrigger depths they're taking fish at, are they referring to the actual depth on sonar or with a probe, or are they talking about the amount of cable out? I can't always see my weights on sonar and don't have a probe. My cable counter is the most reliable thing I have. I might have to upgrade to sharks or fish shape weights for less blowback. 17. Didn't know where to post this but... Just saw a older juvenile bald eagle land on a sandbar in front of my cottage. What a sight! It's head was almost white and tail was white in the middle. I think the spawning carp commotion lured it in to check it out. Stayed for 5-10 minutes and was on its way. My cottage is between Bedford Creek and Horse Island. Anyone else see these beautiful birds around this area? Brb, chaumont, Henderson? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Kevin is correct. State regulations apply to everywhere but Jefferson county and its tributaries and St Lawrence and its tributaries. I fish crank baits and spoons for pike in the shallows around Henderson bay (sackets side), and around horse island... There seems to be a very fine line between where the pike lay and the bass are bedding. We inevitably hook some smallies. We even use steel leaders and they still slam them. I always figured if we were questioned the steel leader proves I'm set up for pike. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. I stood in my boat and roughly measured from the gunwale to just above my head, so I could stand straight underneath like MadPerry mentioned. And whatever you choose, if it comes with nylon strap tie downs, they recommend to put them at 45 degree angles... Get close to 45 on the front, but go vertical on the back for more fishing room. I did that on my boat with no problem. Good luck with your choice. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. That's a bit stronger J.D. Thanks for the thread rolmops, great info throughout. Now I just have to figure what I'll go with! Lol Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Thanks for the advice... I'll definitely use something stronger. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. I was wondering if anyone uses PVC for a planer board mast? I have an idea for a base plate and wasn't sure what to use for the mast. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. Good info thanks. Found a free buoy app "NOAA buoy data" closest open lake buoy to me is Prince Edward Pt. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
