    Fished the evening just 3 hr. Had that storm roll in at 7:30 or so. First time in my new gently used Lund. Ran great. Lakers and landlocks.

    One must have jumped 5 feet 3 times. Fantastic fish. Unfortunately had to keep one gill damage. Riggers set at 40, 55 and 70. All 30 back. Speed various from 1.8 to 3.

    Down side, Flees, gobs and gobs. Using 30 lb blood line works great. But the knot at the leader wow. And cables on the Riggers.

    I have to agree. Walleye will and have destroyed many trout waters. Walleye and Lakers only share the same water for a few months. Lakers spawn fall, walleye spring . Rainbow landlocked browns share the same water 24/7 and walleye cream the trout young. Baby trout are stupid.
    Yes walleye will live and fill a void in the fingerless at what cost?
    Put walleye in Ontario. Oneida etc. They stopped the stocking in Owasco as it was extremely detrimental to the rainbows. Ask the DEC. Randomly assuming certain fish should be in water you like doesn't mean they should be stocked. I love walleye. I'll travel to various lakes to fish them. But I go to the finger lakes for trout. Why? Because we here in central NY have quality trout fishing. QUALITY. Leave the warm water fish where they belong. Just my thoughts from talking to the DEC and biologists.

    Walleye in fingerlakes

    The initial reason I asked about walleye in Skaneateles is that they simply destroy rainbow populations. They occupy the same strata and follow up rainbow spring soawning. Years ago the state stocked them in owasco. The outcome was not good for the rainbows. Walleye stocking was halted and the trout population rainbow are making a comeback. I suggest you research walleye stocking in trout lakes and you will if more than 50 trout lake were impacted in a very detrimental way. Be careful what you wish for. Just info. Not trying to ensite trouble. The walleye in Skaneateles were definitely stock by someone with little information on the damage that can be done. I refer to previous posts.

    I fished long point state park, went south Wednesday. Started at 4 pm. Had 5 in the boat lakers, released all :
    2 over 5lbs. 1 rainbow. Shut off by 6pm. Sky's cleared, wind went nne, big high pressure system. Fun while it lasted. Huge bait balls. Fish stacked all around. Tough to compete with the real stuff.

    Walleye in fingerlakes

    So some may have heard that a walleye was caught, photographed and released on Skaneateles. 14 to 15 in. Article in the paper . Anyway, how many of you fish Skaneateles, how many have caught a walleye there. How long have people been catching them. The state said it never released them and there is no access to allow natural entry. Some have said they catch them all the time. I'm there at least weekly, never seen one. Any of you?

    VHS, couldn't think of a better thing to happen to the gobbies. But it spreads. The big lake is the catch all of the entire great Lakes system. The fingerlakes catch all the farm affluent. Road salt on and on. Where do we start? I'm very happy to see so many people on this site appreciate our resources. I personally release 98% of all my fish. I'm not telling anyone else they should.
    I love catching lakers, LL, smallmouth. Rainbows. Thrilling. I take a picture if large and release. Enjoy our lakes.

    Started at 4 pm. Went south east side marked a huge bait ball. Marked it and continued south. Trolled till 6 without a touch. Ran back to the bait ball 80 ft. Set rigger at 65 had a steady laker pick. All 20 in. 5 in 40 min. Went in to 40 ft and hit a 7 lb laker 20 ft down. All spoons green colors. Tried sticks and spoons on top for landlocks. Not a touch. But the bait ball was huge. Lots of fish above bellow etc. Water temp 47.7 to 49. Fun night.
