  1. Thanks just put two new tires on and I don't even Know if they are radials! My neighbor down the road is a tire man and I just leave the bad ones and he calls me next day with news ones on. Convenient. I will check and see. Load range C is what he out on I did notice that last night.

  2. Hard to say for sure with one trip, but I think moving the boat forward 4 inches helped. Little to no sway coming home. I can come forward another 3 inches, but I will have to move the rear rollers too.  Trailer says load capacity is 3400 lbs.4474 GAWR. So, I'm probably maxed out, 2700 boat, 300 lbs of fuel, 175 HP outboard and 9.8 hp kicker.

  3. Thanks for all the replies. I will check the trailer capacity tomorrow, but I think it is adequate from what I remember reading the placard a while ago. The rear rollers are 3 or 4 inches forward of the transom. I can move the front hitch forward 3 or 4 inches, there is room for that. I will try doing that tomorrow after I launch the boat off the trailer. That should increase the tongue weight some. without weighing it I will not know though. Worth a try and definitely can't hurt.  The brochure for this old 1983 grady white bimini 220 says boat weighs 2200 lbs but I don't know if that is with a motor or not. Does not specify that.

  4. I got a new truck to pull my boat. I'm getting more sway with F150 versus the Nissan Frontier. Once on that bad stretch of the I90 through the Catt Indian reservation it started so bad the anti sway (braking action of the f150) kicked in. Do trailers need alignment? Any suggestions? I don't have a scale to check tongue weight. Should I get some sort of a sway bar? Sometimes it's smooth as can be, for a long way, then all the sudden starts swaying. Is it the road,?IMG_20190824_134556414_HDR.jpeg

  5. I've looked into it after reading your post. I ordered the kestrel flexfit saddle. 10 week backorder so I guess I will have to wait until late bow season. Now I'm checking out ways to climb the tree. Looks like SRT single rope tree, or using a single strap on step may work for me. I hunt public lands so this may be best way for me to get way back in as I do, but without lugging a heavy tree stand.

Thank you! From what I read, spurs are illegal on stateland but I haven't read anything saying so on private land. I'll look into it. Do you have a set up you want to sell, or recommend?

  6. For a 243 I would use 85 grain Sierra hollow point game kings. This is what I use in my 243. The game kings are NOT a varmint bullet. I would use the minimum powder grains listed in the manual. For example, the powder I use is IMR 4064. I won't tell you what I use in my full power loads because it is way over max to develop a Chrono verified 3300 FPS. For a reduced load I would use 33 grains of 4064.

  7. I have a friend that catches tons of salmon in the creeks and rivers on Skein. In fact two years ago he took me to the falls on the Genesee and we caught about 6 or 7 huge Kings on Skein. So why do I have such trouble getting a staging Salmon to hit, as I troll back and forth through a screen covered with salmon, trying everything in my arsenal? Usually this results in nothing but frustration. I'm wondering if if should just drift over them with Skein!

  8. Oh my gosh! I've lost a net myself. And plenty of paddle, divers, and baits. Even lost two downrigger weights. Once I lost an entire rig and my other line did snag it and we recovered it. No fish though. It can be a circus for sure.

Flying up Saturday morning for my annual trip with my Dad. He's been up per fishing when he can get out by himself (81 years young!)

He was in 639 FOW yesterday when he hit a nice salmon, about #20, and got it to the boat. Whatever happened, he was having a devil of a time netting the fish...

So he put the rod down to try and net the fish...

    ... Missed the fish...

    ... Fish takes off...

... with the whole rig... tackle, rod, and reel...

Plus, when he went to try and grab the rod, he dropped the net to do so... and lost the net overboard too...

So, if your fishing out the front gate in Oswego, and somehow that fish by some miracle isn't on the bottom and is cruising around and you catch it, now you know why there is a rod and reel attached...

Can't wait to get up there this weekend!

  10. Yes, I too find saiffs videos very informative and helpful.

Yeah when are they in front of the Genny? I saw a guy trolling in front of the river when I was coming in. The DEC guy told me they are not really in yet.

Regarding Bill and the duck hunting link I have read that before.

Unfortunate......I'm sure he wishes he didn't do.
