  1. I had to hold the wheel stationary and run the hydraulic pump both directions while bleeding. Then I made the steel bracket and attached it to the instrument panel. When I want to use AP, I attach the bracket to the steering wheel spoke to hold the wheel stationary. Otherwise, the AP just makes the wheel spin and the Motor doesn't move!

Gary, was that while bleeding? Or the way it is now while using it?

  2. Mine was weird. The steering wheel would go back and forth, but the motor would never move. I had to hold the steering wheel in one spot to force the fluid to bypass the steering wheel pump and circulate back to the ram on the motor. It worked, but I had to fabricate and install a bracket that holds the steering wheel in one place when I use the auto pilot. Otherwise the AP drives the wheel but not Motor.

  3. I bought one of those spoons a couple year's ago. Caught a couple of nice Kings on it. For some reason I haven't used it much. Next time out you can bet it will on a line. I just Trolled with like normal, no yanking.

" Yanking " was an old method of fishing for Lake Trout in northern Ontario using a Williams Wobler spoon . The spoon was developed by Dr. Williams a surgeon in Niagara Falls Ont . Still available now ; the spoon was silver with a bend plus a ridge running down the center the hook would be baited , yanking produced a snap which was different form anything else at that time , it worked so well he went into business with it ! It is not a trolling spoon but has been used for trolling [ no success for us ] !
    Give it a try !

  4. Had to stay in Port while some bad weather moved through. Then after an hour or so we went out about 730. We saw 68 degrees at the mouth of harbor, then about 66 degrees at 190 FOW. But we decided to keep going out. We stopped at 384 FOW. It was 68 degrees on surface 45 degrees 50 to 60feet down. We trolled north. Hit 495 FOW. Surface went to about 70 with 45 degrees 70 feet down. Pretty stable. Stay between 450 and 495 most of the time. Quit at 1330. We got 2 Kings, and 5 steelhead. One king on meat/11 two face uv paddle/diver. Lost several more on that combo. Biggest king was 19 lb off a 70 foot rigger with UV GLOW two face spoon. That rigger also took a few steelhead. Took a couple steelhead on a 10 color leadcore also with same spoon. Nothing on SD/FLY Today. Best water for me was 475 to 490. Fished out from the plant, smokestack. Took my nephew and his two sons. The little tike got the rigger rod bites so he got to fight the big one and land it with some help from Dad. It tangled around a rigger ball and cable and just as I barely got the net under it the line severed and popped. Chaotic! But we got him, and my great nephew filmed the whole thing. 5. I just got the rocket launcher, no bimini because I already had one. My tope stays up/open all the time, so I just mounted it to my existing bimini tubes. Had to a couple sight mods, but not hard. It is pretty sturdy, stainless steel, they say. heres the link. I guess it wasn't even $109. $79, plus shipping.

  6. This is my question every time I go out. Shallow or go offshore? Unfortunately I don't have Ladies with me.

All right you have one choice. It’s 630 am you have a pile of ladies that need to catch fish. To you start in tight or go deep.....
Look for my tournament update tomorrow afternoon. Thank you so much

  7. Definitely is a nice fish but can’t see it weigh anywhere near 40lbs unless it had 10lbs of lead in the gut.  I have a pic of a striper i caught a few years back and I’m possing almost the same way for the pic. The striper was caught on lake wallenpaupack. Weighed 33lb 4oz. 42in on official scale. I just had to put the pics next to each other to compare

Definitely not a 42 lb fish, after comparison to the other pics.

  8. That’s exactly why long lines have no place when the traffic is heavy. Leave them in the boat Or be prepared to lose tackle. It is not possible to allow 600 + ft of clearance when there are other boats in the equation

I wholeheartedly agree. In tight fishing scenarios it is unfair to expect everyone to be able to clear your lines 300 feet or more behind you, at trolling speeds with reduced maneuvering ability and other obstacles (boats) all around. Go find a place that has more clearance.

The g2 and g3 does show you...I use it every day!   Takes me a third of the time to find schools of bait that have active fish on them to circle on...the sonar-di-si overlap so you don't miss much...

Please clarify what make and  model G2, G3? is that allows you to see off to the sides of your boat for locating bait balls, etc. Is this a garmin unit?  Thanks.

The inside one is 50/200 the outside one is 83/200. I thought they all ran both beams at the same time? Is that enough khz separation?

Let me (us) know how the 50/200 works. I have the HDS 7 Gen 3 with 83/200 xducer. I normally run medium chirp. My unit does not have  a LOW chirp selection, just MED and HIGH. It works but I am looking for a wider cone if possible. I don't really need to see a 4 foot diameter and separate fish in close proximity to each other. I am more interested in seeing bait and if there are any fish down there at all. Wider cone if possible. I wish someone would make a probe you lower into the water and it scans a circle like a weather radar, providing a "side view" .
