1996 Mercury 60hp 2 stroke motor in excellent condition. Runs perfect. Just transitioned to a 4 stroke. Comes with controls/harness, fuel line and 6 gallon gas tank. Happy to run it in the driveway in a tub of water for someone seriously interested. Have hydraulic lift here to help load it in vehicle or on boat.

Congrats to Bill on one heck of a brown! I was thrilled to get 2nd place. The morning bite was very good and did have a larger lake trout on for about a 15 min battle, couldn't move it for a good 10 min, then slowly came up near the boat and pulled the hook about 10 ft. down. Afternoon slowed way down, overall a good day. Thanks to Bear and Wiz for holding the derby.
Very sorry to hear. Sounds like a real legend. What a massive commitment making that drive to Seneca repeatedly. He must've really loved the lake. I will fish my Miller spoons more often now. May he Rest In Peace.
I believe it on the temp swings... which gives me a good kick in the ass to replace my transducer so I have temperature readings again. Fish Hawk also on the list, but not in the finances currently. I did mark some bait but not a lot and yeah it was in the top 20-30 fow like you saw. I'll add that the majority of the fish I caught were also on my weighted steel rod. Might be time for me to rig up another one of those. See you at Seneca!
You guys rocked it! Beautiful job. Really nice of you to share these details. I started on the south end, west side and worked 30-60 fow from 5am-6:45am. Didn't move a rod in there. Wanted to stay shallow but made a decision then to try a turn out deep. As soon as I got to 130+ fow I started getting hit after hit, mostly 6-7 pound lakers, all feisty. Lost one 8-9 pounder next to the boat after a hairy battle crossing lines a had one small bow on briefly out there on a free slider Elmer Hinckley gold hammered 35 came unbuttoned. Ended up staying out deep which probably prevented me from finding a brown but action was firing so I stayed put until the last hour tried shallow on the east side a couple miles from the south launch, didn't find anything there. Great report man, following instincts and solid strategies.
So much negativity these days is killing these rare once a year derbies. To me, fisherman should be thankful the derby has battled to still exist for more than 60 years. If the negativity doesn't change to positivity and thankfulness these super fun traditions will cease to exist. $7500 for a finger lakes derby is still a lot of money. The reason it's not 10k is because not enough folks have the balls to enter. What do you expect?
