Either lake gets tricky quick. Less likely to encounter 4+ foot waves on Oneida but you can't compare the size difference on Erie. If your gonna be keeping the meat, limit is another thing to consider. Depending on length of your trip, you could limit out 2 or 3 days on Erie with 4-8# fish and have 2x the meat of 7 straight days on Oneida. I recently have been on the walleye program and did Oneida 2 weeks ago for a family vacation and have hit Erie 2x since that trip. I would pick Erie. There's lots of fish to be caught in places even if the lake is rocking. Inside the small boat harbor or just outside the breakwall is typically ok even with a blowing wind. Either choice, good luck and have fun !! Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Call cannon. Great customer service. It's current going through wire that stops when it comes out of water. Are you running a snubber ? Wire cable ? Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Buoys out of Olcott ?
NymphO replied to NymphO's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Thanks ! Sounds like they won't be permanent. I still think they should light them up. With all of our boating / safety laws it's crazy that they aren't lit. Even the redneck method I saw out of Dunkirk, somebody duct taped solar landscape lights to some buoys. If you were offshore and headed in after dusk, strong possibility you would find one. Cotton wood and fleas are two of my least favorite things while fishing. I thought I had the flea removal program down, till you do a 50/50 mix with cotton wood. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Ran out late and only fished for a few hours. 6 in the boat, 1 miss, 2 lost in the prop wash. 1 small, couple 10-15# and one 20+. Just needed to get back on the water with my recent Oneida trip and walleye charity event on Erie I was desperate to hear the drags rip. Water was all over the place. Deep rigger stayed at 70', temps were 48-60, big dog came off inside dipsy, 135 back, frog spoon in 66° also took 2 better fish off meat/paddle. Fished 100-125'. Found a school of biters and did circles. Basically out front of the piers. Wind died and so did the bite. On water at 4 off at 7. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
