  1. I'd like to see Smart Troll data on it before forming an opinion. Sounds too good to be true, but ya never know. Smart Troll is really only guaranteed out to 300' even though it can work further. So, I'd imagine it'd be tough to get great data on it. My problem is I'm so vested in copper set-ups at this point why change? However, for someone looking to buy a couple set-ups that will let them be more versatile it sounds great.
  2. I have 3 HELIX's and my Terrova all networked together. The HELIX with the Lakemaster card is the one that allows me to follow contours, but any of them can spot lock me or tell the trolling motor to go on Auto-Pilot. If you don't care about the new Bluetooth model (basically your phone connects to it) I have a Terrova 72" 112lb for sale.
  3. 450' of backing is plenty. That's all a Tekota 800 or Seagate 60 will hold, and I've never been close to spooled.
  4. IMHO Tekota 800 is your best option out there. You can get 300yd spool of 50lb backing for a 400 copper, and 150yd spool of 50lb backing for a 500 copper.
  5. We use 30lb braid with a splice of 30-50lb mono between the braid and leadcore. The mono splice is for hooking it to a big board release, or on inline board. A good rule of thumb is 30lb Braid for Leadcore and up to a 300 copper. 50lb braid for anything bigger.
  6. Works great. Small blemish on the front screen. Touch screen on the back. Comes with a dual battery charger, and two spare batteries. $150 Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. From what I know (which isn't much ) the HB unit was discontinued. However, there is a whole section dedicated to it in the 2019 catalog. At the marine electronics conference I was at a few weeks ago I was told they were re-designing it. Who knows.... To answer your initial question I have never installed one. I was just curious where ya got one when you mentioned it.
  8. Where did you buy one?
  9. Woody's Wax is great on the floor and sides. Smells good too! Captain John's boat brite products are great too! If the job is bad I'll use a bleach type cleaner, but I try not to let it get there.
  10. That ice is getting thick! Time for power!
  11. If anyone needs any type of marine electronics give me (Rick) a call at Krenzer Marine. I'm there M-F and can get most things.
  12. They plow snow right to the launch. You'd need a plow truck and be able to pick ice to get it usable.
  13. No he does not. Hes around all year.
  14. It's not new. It's about 5 years old. It's not the Bluetooth model, but it is an i-Pilot Link. It has sat in my basement for 2 years as a back up. I replaced it with the same motor, but with Bluetooth.
  15. I had a guy back out of them, so yes they are still for sale. My cell is 585-704-7996
  16. Garmin has great mapping especially with the new G3 maps that are available. With the Simrad you'd just need to plug in a Navionics card to get a good map on Western LO. When interfacing MFD's with other items (in this case an AP) you get so much more when you interface with the same brand.
