Yes you can. Last I heard there are only 17 teams signed up for 1 K A Day. If we don't make 70 teams then there won't be $1000/day purses. We need more teams to sign up. I personally think the LOC being a week later might be hurting this event a little. Talking with Kevin this morning if we can hit 35 or 40 boats we'll get $500 out to the daily winners rather than cancel the event, so start encouraging your buddies fishing the WHI! Sitting back and waiting will do more harm.

I'm not so sure what I was seeing on my electronics was LT. They were super glued to the bottom. Ran spoons, F/F, and cowbells by them and not 1 touch with 30-40 marks. You'd think one would go on cowbells if they were Lake Trout eventually. I have a sneaky suspicion they were Kings and just not active at all.

I concur with the LT mood yesterday.

April 23 What a great day in Rochester! These guys from Maine were pleasantly surprised! The Yankee Troller Bay Rat Lures was a stud off our boards early back 100-115'. Then a black and silver Smithwick took over. Chinook Divers accounted for a few with NBK and Mixed Veggies behind them back 10-15'. April 24 We made a few passes in the morning for Brown Trout, and they were snapping pretty good. Black and silver Smithwicks and Bay Rat Lures Black Flash were good on the boards back 115-125'. NBKs were good on our Chinook Divers back 10' as well. After 3 passes we headed north looking for Lake Trout and Salmon. Almost struck out on that plan, but a Lake Trout hit a diver with 30 minutes left in the trip. All in all a decent day. I have a feeling these Maine guys will be back!

Tom gave you some great advice. If you can see 10' down you in clear water, and fishing will be TOUGH. Slide out and you can always play with Lake Trout. You don;t need to run cow bells this time of year. Those LT are eating heavily. This past weekend we pointed the boat North and put a couple Spin Doctor/A-TOM-MIK flies out on divers, and the LT couldn't resist. The best part of this is if there are any Salmon around you may get lucky! They were also chewin spoons off our riggers. We found them in 30-80' of water. While you're out there playing with the LT don't hesitate to put some bright red and green out on the boards for Coho and Steelhead.

4/16 Morning Great morning on the Lake. We had more Brown Trout than we could count. We went 0/2 on Salmon, we grabbed a couple of Lake Trout, and two Pike. Three generations from Maine on their annual trip. Hot baits today were Storm Jr. Thundersticks and Smithwicks Rogues. One of the Salmon cracked off one of our Yankee Bay Rats on the set up. 4/16 Afternoon Spent the afternoon with a pair of father/sons. What a difference a few hours makes. This afternoon's trip was tough! Went 3/4 on the inside. Slid out to 40-80' and did a few Lake Trout on Team Dreamweaver Spin Doctors and A-TOM-MIK flies. We made the best of it, and everyone hit their personal best fish. 4/17 Although we had to work harder for them today we were rewarded with a better quality fish. Same family from Maine that fished with us yesterday morning. Our best water was off Braddock's point in 20-40'. Yankee Bay Rat Lures and LIVETARGET Lures Smelt banana baits were good for the browns. The Lake Trout were taking spoons off our Cannon and Fishing - Chinook Diver-Stainless Steel Troll Fishing Divers.

I'd like to thank Joe, Tim, and the Lake Ontario Trout & Salmon Association for allowing me the opportunity to speak about Spring Kings last night at their monthly meeting. You guys have a great club. Anyone that fishes Lake Ontario should be grateful for all the hard work you guys put into this fishery. I hope everyone had a good time, and came away with something that might put a few extra fish in the boat.

Yup. We try to pair them to an equally sized boat, but it's not always possible.

Each boat is paired with another boat and observers are exchanged. They watch to make sure the boat they are on is following the rules. It is also a great opportunity for someone to learn how to fish Lake Ontario.

Thinner the better! 250lb Power Pro works just fine if you'r pulling Otter boats. If you're going to pull 4' cedar boards you want to step it up to 500lb spectra.
