  1. Quick update on the invites. We sent them out but over half were returned to sender. Apparently the USPS wasn't a fan of the frosted envelopes with clear address labels. Please let us know if you didn't get one, and don't be alarmed if you received two. Take the spare and talk another boat into fishing the event! Deposits are due by February 21st. This is also the deadline to be entered in the Early Bird drawing. Registration is now open on the website. You can register your teams for the WHI, 1 K A Day, and the Salmon Slam. Wilson Harbor Invitational
  2. It'd be cool if I could talk a teammate into jumping overboard with the rod in hand to not get spooled!
  3. Get better Jason! Prayers for you and your family.
  4. Short shallows
  5. I already said that Paul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I never mentioned pulling lines. Just turn the boat. When you're fishing a tourney and have 8 hours to fish battling Salmon on Long coppers takes a lot of time. Circling them cuts down on that time considerably, and I think the lack of pressure on them (not getting pulled against) calms them down some. We'll go so far as to pull a board copper if the chute goes so we can turn on him. And Brian....tighten your drags!
  7. Our top 3 colors last spring in short shallow were Black Flash, My Secret, and Glow Green Frog. I'd look at the new Brown Trout from this years line-up as well. That'd give you 4 color choices. Two hot colors, and two natural colors. Please remember that these dive deeper than Thundersticks, bombers, and F7/F9 Rapalas. If running 100' leads they are going to dive to 7/8'. If the water has color and you can get away with 75' leads you can get into 5/6'.
  8. We've been running a 500 copper on a Tekota 800 for years with 150 yards of backing. Never had a problem, and we fish the North shore where the Salmon never forgot how they're supposed to fight. Tighten down your drags a little and if it is a board rod circle your fish. Turn towards the board that the fish hit off, and you'll see fish come to the back of the boat on 600' & 700' coppers that are still green. You just have to reel your butt off. Although in BAZOOKAJOE's instance that might not be something you can pull. Watch now....I'm gonna get spooled this Summer.......
  9. FYI....I had a motor eating up modules 3 years ago. When it went we were 19 miles from the Oak coming back from Toronto. It sounded like I blew a motor at the time. Found out the module went bad. We went through 3 or 4 modules. Put a new one in and it ran fine, but would eventually blow. Cause of this was the pick up coil (not the regular coil) was bad. This coil is located on the shaft under the cap an rotar. Again, I'm no mechanic, but I do have a great one at my disposal. I watch and try to learn when he's working on my boat. I know much more now compared to 7 or 8 years ago when my old man did all the mechanic work.
  10. The cap and rotar doesn't go bad all of a sudden on an electronic ignition. It will over time, but you should be replacing those every year or two depending on condition. If there is anything that can just go bad with an electronic ignition it's the module. You can keep a spare on board for if and when that happens and it's a breeze to change. I'm no mechanic, and don;t pretend to play one, but even I can do this. I've heard the Mallory kits are hit and miss, but the AC Delco kits are money. The AC Delco kit was installed on our ride.
  11. I'm with this guy!
  12. On the Yankee we run 25lb mono on our downrigger sticks. We use the Flouro to leader down. When pulling spoons for Brown Trout 8-12lb Flouro leaders depending on water clarity. When pulling spoons for Steelhead 15lb flouro, and when pulling spoons for Salmon 20lb Flouro.
  13. You beat me to it Gill-T! On our boat we use Flouro leaders when we're pulling spoons (probably more a mental thing), and for our fly harnesses.
  14. The Okuma 50L that was suggested earlier has a 3.1:1 ratio, and as far as I know they are discontinued by Okuma. Shimano's Tekota 800 is 4.2:1, and the Daiwa Seagate 60 is 6.1:1.
  15. I gotta be honest. If I was a fish I'd die to one of these! @BayRatLures https://t.co/SpT7YTHepf

  16. Create your own maps! @HumminbirdFish Autochart Live works in the new #HELIX and the #ONIX units! Check it out! https://t.co/7GqxWVWmKQ

  17. Ughhhh......you guys and your different pound coppers! LOL I don't know how you keep track of all those depth curves! It would drive me nuts trying to remember all that info. It's bad enough with all the names of the lures! 45# A-TOM-MIK Copper for me as long as Tom's selling it!
  18. Tekota 800 and a Daiwa Seagate 60 both can handle 500' of 45# Copper with 150yds of backing. Both of those reels have a much better gear ratio than a Solterra, and I'd even go as far as saying better drags (especially with the Seagate). If you want to go over 500' of Copper for whatever reason then your talking Solterra's.
  19. Always nice getting pictures from clients enjoying what they've caught with us. https://t.co/qQrY5sEkUv

  20. And this thread takes another detour! Hahahahahahaha
  21. If I had to do that I'd be convincing myself I need a new wife!
  22. Watch these if you want to know how sonar works
  23. 3x's the length of the flasher is a general rule
  24. According to what I've read they closed their doors because a business they were sharing office space with went out of business. They couldn't make the over head work without that business, so they had to close their doors.
