It worked great. Real nice when you get double on. The throttle controll works better than I could imagine. You can hit idle and and them resume and throttle goes back to old setting. Easier to dock as well since the two motors are no longer hooked together. That was more of a plus for Ben since he is the one at the helm! Wes

I should have asked first if you were set up to troll. You can cast heavy spoons like little cleo's, stickbaits or even spinners like panther martin or use a flyrod with a streamer. This time of year you can catch fish at all depths but look places were the food is. In a normal year streams wash food into the lake this year the streams are low and clear. You can also jig with tube jigs. Large white ones I have been told work best. Many people catch lakers this way. Drop the jig to the bottom and then crank it up as fast as you can. Some fish do not take the untill the bait is almost to the surface. Wes

As the guys said watch the weather. I got out in my kayak this winter and fished t-falls to scout camp. I trolled spoons on leadcore. I got 6 or so LL salmon and one brown around 6lbs in full spawning colors that spit the hook right at the boat. T-falls point can give you a sheltered place from a north wind. Kayak stealth lends for some great fishing. I have 4 rod holders on my yak and have fished all over the state with it. If you troll next to shore with stick baits you should catch fish. Keep an eye on the wind. South wind fish south end , north wind fish the bay south of T-falls by the swimming area. Have fun! Wes

I agree with the sculpin theory. Some of the big lakers you get are all banged up on the nose from rooting around in the rocks. Sculpins were the natural bait before the invasive bait fish were introduced.

The finger lakes have more than L.L. salmon to offer. Some big browns.lakers, northern pike, bass, panfish and so on. The finger lakes are over shadowed by the great lakes but when you get down to it the fish that we catch are world class. I thank my lucky stars I live so close. Wes

Does not have to be under power. Under 21 ' could be sail , paddle, motor . They will write you up. My boat is under 21' by 6" and I welcome the law.In the summer if iI have kids onboard that must wear a pfd I also wear one to set a good example. If we tangle a line on the motor or have to go up on the bow in rough water the pfd goes on. I have a relative that has had to do body recoverys and said he has yet to recover a body that had on a pfd on.

Better than a skunk I have not been out yet this year at the south end but in past years the deepest water was near the wall on the east side of the inlet. That could have changed but we should be getting some water in the lake soon. Senaca is at level so we will get more water our way. Wes

Not a good idea unless your motor can run on lower octane. When you drain the water and alchol mixture off you lower octane. Best to find a station that sells none ethanol fuel and pay the extra buck a gallon. My dad runs non ethanol in his car and gets 3 mpg better fuel milage. There are websites that give the locations that sell it. Remember the law allows gas companys to use it. They are not mandated to use it. Its all about profit margins. Ethanol is cheaper! Wes

Overtaking situation Any vessel (including a sailing vessel) which is overtaking another vessel must keep well clear of the vessel overtaken. You can overtake the other vessel on either side but only when it is safe to do so, and you must keep well clear.

Yep. The speed at ball and gps is always off a little. I'm not sure if it is due to elevation above sea level or what it is. At the ball is all that matters.

I'm a 100% for it. We spend tons of money at this sport I think the course was 20 bucks when I took it. One time thing! I would much rather have people who understand rules of the road on the lake with me. Never have many problems with fishermen except one time last year a guy in a bass boat ran over my 9 rod spread about 40 yds behind my boat. Lucky he was going fast enough he must have had only the prop in the water because he didn't cut any of my lines. Hope they talk more about launching. It can be a real pain when the pleasure boaters are launching. 20 trollers can launch in 30 minutes but 2 pleasure boaters can tie that same launch up for an hour. Wonder why I have to take blood pressure meds. Wes

Hope that includes sailboats with kickers! They could learn about a boat overtaking another boat . Slower boat has right of way. Never understood how a sailboat going 10mph faster than I am thinks I can get out of the way!
