Fishing the Oak I find what upgrady said to be right on. When I was there the best day we had was out in 500 to 600 feet of water down 55 to 65 feet. Good luck. If you have a smaller boat as I do (19' ) just keep an eye on the wind to allow time to get back in. Richard

I have been able to get my slide divers down to about 60 / 65 feet under the right conditions, but that is about it. I fished the Bar all weekend and found the kings to be very deep. The shallowest a king came for us was about 90 feet down. We had our dipsy's out 200 to 250 feet to achieve the depths that the kings were at. We marked kings deeper but did not want to fish that deep. Good luck. Richard

I made my yearly trip to the Niagara Bar for the holiday weekend. Fishing for the most part was good. The fish were striking a little short so we had more fish get off than usual. The weather was great except for the front that moved in on Sunday that shut the fish down and kicked up four to five footers in about fifteen minutes. Thursday we arrived in the afternoon at the hotel and settled in. After unpacking we decided to hit the lake for a couple of hours. We went four for five, all coho’s sixty five feet down over 200 to 250 fow. Figuring the kings should be below the coho’s we dropped down the balls for the next day. Kings came 90 to 120 down over the same water. Friday we went seven for eleven. Saturday we also went seven for eleven and Sunday we went one for four. All fish were taken east of the red can. Met Storm Warning from this board at the hotel we stayed at. Nice guy and we helped each other with the fishing. Thank you. Good fishing to all, hope to be back soon. Richard

Hello everyone, I am looking for some help. I am making the nine hour drive (over 500 miles) to fish the Niagra Bar Thursday through Sunday. Can any one out there give me some up to date info for the area. I am not looking for exact spots but more of FOW, depth of temp, and maybe the depth you caught most of your fish at. I went to Fair Haven for the weekend with my son and father. My father started getting sick just as we were departing for our 6+ hour drive. Saturday morning I came out of the shoot to find four to five footers from the west. We headed east to troll with them. Hit two browns in front of the beach within the first twenty minutes. By this time my son was sea sick and pretty green. At the end of the beach we turned the boat around to go back through the spot. Now heading into the waves, just made every one feel worse (dad and son). Fought the waves back to the shoot and came in. The forecast was for the waves to let up so we returned at noon. At 12:30 came out of the shoot to find three footers, much better. Son was feeling good; dad was just ok after a nap. We managed five more browns in the next four hours and called it a day. The sun came out and had shut the fish off for us for the last two hours. Waves were about a foot when we quit. Sunday morning we woke to cold temps and rain with spitting snow. Waves were 1 to 2’s. We came out of the shoot at about 7:30. We took the same east course as the day before. The three of us trolled around for three and a half hours with nothing to show. Decided that due to the incoming storm we were going to troll into port and get ready to leave that afternoon. Just outside the shoot on the way in we hit two fish to end the trip. All nine browns were between 1.5 and 2.5 pounds estimated. The majority of fish came off a 3.5â€Â

I have a Chevy Silverado 1500. I tow my boat and my wifes camper with it. The camper is bigger than the boat at about 6000 pounds. The truck does a great job. I do not even feel the boat back there. I own a 19' Smokercraft. This is my third Silverado. The fist two were company owned trucks. I liked them so much that I went out and bought myself one when I left the company. My father had owned Fords and my brother had a Dodge. Now we all have the Chevy. A great riding truck. Richard
