  1. kathyo, i am very sad to hear about your loss. dogs are more than pets, they are family. what area of the lake did you capsize?
  2. There is no shortage of fish or bait on this lake. It is a great place to take a kid or someone new and keep them busy. Did you make it out Saturday RR?
  3. Deans cove is a boat launch about 5 miles north of Sheldrake. I did not fish Cayuga a lot this year but every time the fishing was very good. I usually launched at Myers or Taughannock. Dodgers and flies were very productive for me. Never had to go north of AES.
  4. i was going to say 7. if you put in at little salmon about 4 or 5 miles.
  5. dieselhp, i will be out of oswego sunday. give me a shout, i will be on 68 or 5. maybe we can find some silver fish. what do you go by on the radio?
  6. Thank you Mark for putting this post up. Dave, this will make your derbys better for a lot of us and it will have no cost to you.
  7. I tried the chowder recipe today and it was fantastic. Very rich and tasty. I made cheese and garlic biscuits to go with it. Girl friend said it was the best soup she ever had.
  8. Mark, your reply was right on target. I have a lot of respect for Captains but us rec guys should be listed too. We all pay the same entry fee don't we? As long as the boat name isn't objectionable it should be listed... pro or rec.
  9. I buy most of my flies unrigged so i use 40 or 50# Ande florocarbon for leaders. If i buy a fly rigged I use it straight out of the package.
  10. I think bags are the way to go. Amish outfitters make a really nice bag. It is better to run a bag off each side of the boat.
  11. i would give it a try. As soon as you give it a little gas in gear you will know.
  12. Scott, is barney having a fall derby? How about south shore marina. I am on vacation from the 9th - 16th.
  13. last year in september i caught 2 nice smallmouths in 170fow down 80ft on a sliverglow dodger with a LBB fly. They were feeding in a bait pod. I was trolling.
  14. Dale, After your dipsey run your snubber then about 7ft of 40#test mono. Put a quality ballbearing snap swivel then your flasher. I measure my leader different than a lot of people. i measure from the top of the loop to the top of the fly. Usually i start at 20 -21inches. I use 40# florocarbon for my leaders but 50# mono will work too. Your want 1000ft of 7 strand stainless steel wire. On line i get mine at howiestackle.com
  15. Mike, Try running your leader from 20 -24". I run most of my spinnies off my wire rods.
  16. Then why is there a 24lb 13oz salmon on the board?
  17. Tom, that would be a great set up for walleyes oneida lake!!!
  18. We launched 6:30 and headed to the middle of the lake. Started trolling north and hit fish after fish after fish until we got to AES or whatever it is called. Riggers and wire were both hot. Best spoons were purple frog and kevorkian with a purple and glow strip down 90 +100. Started trolling south and the fishing slowed a bit. Headed north again and did a few on the wires. Trash can w/ no see um fly and silver dodger w/ LBB fly out 300+310 on a 2 setting. Headed to the west shore and found fish from the scout camp to TP point in 100 -125fow. We did a rainbow that weighed 6lbs 2oz first thing in the morning on a pink alewife R&R spoon. It was a slider on the 90ft rigger. I have no idea how many fish we caught. The lake is full of nice lakers and the amount of bait we marked was unbelievable. The weather man sucks. i read 10 -20 WNW wind for today. We got to the lake and the wind was from the south at about 5mph. About 10:30 it switched out of the north but it was about 5-10mph. When we left the lake it was 0mph. I would have went to Ontario but was worried about the wind.
  19. Tom, call fish307 and see if they have one in stock they can ship you.

  21. That is an old style R&R. He might have some blanks that he could paint up for you. www.mytacklebox.com Just attach your linked picture to your email to him.
  22. How big is your boat? The lake is down pretty low, if you are in the 19 ft range and have 4 wheel drive sheldrake might be an option.
