  1. Carl I know I can always count on you to help out with some fishing time. Did she tell you we were already going there on Tuesday. Huh maybe I could just buy the tickets now give the 2 u ( of coarse 1 less than we need) and tell she can get 2 days for the price of one. Women can never pass up a deal and i can fish 2 days. Ha ha ha. I'll give u call on thursday and see ya this weekend. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  2. Mick, I did think about golden hill too but was looking for kids activities too. My boat is on trailer as I dry dock it at lake breeze marinia. Unfortunately fishing is ot on the families priority list, but wanted something close enough that I could drop the boat in for a couple of hours. We decide on the KOA. At least I'm running 3 trips this weekend with an evening fun run on Friday. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  3. Great to see your still putting a few in the box. I'll be up mid morning on Friday. Have a little work to do to the boat and ready to hit the water. Will be out at least sat and sun. See ya out there [ Post made via iPhone ]
  4. Luke, I'll give them a call in the morning. Sounds exactly what I am looking for. Thans [ Post made via iPhone ]
  5. Tcon thanks for the response. I have fish out the oak for several years and never heard of red breeze. I'll have to check them out. A swimming area is a must so all the ones I was aware of we're out. At least got the wife agreeing to tents lol. Thanks again [ Post made via iPhone ]
  6. Anyone know of any campgrounds from oak orchard to niagara? I will have the family and they do not want to tent it because we're heading to niagara falls in Canada for a couple of days too. Looking for a place that has rental cabins and ammenities like swimming pool. Closer to oak orchard would be best that way I can sneak out in the early morning and jump on my boat. Thanks [ Post made via iPhone ]
  7. Both, in my opinion mags work better in summer with standard work better during spring. Just my 2 cents but I have run the for several years and my first set is loaded with moonshines. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  8. Ivan welcome to the greatest fishing site in the world. If you have a question about trolling just ask. You will get responses from chater captains and guys that are just as good or better. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  9. Some captains are available for hire that come to ur boat. The concept is the same anywhere on the lake like someone said above every captains technique is different. Also you can post on share a ride and there are a great bunch of guys who know there stuff that would jump on your boat and give you some of their tricks. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  10. Add a stick of explosive and your ready for hillbilly fishing [ Post made via iPhone ]
  11. Carl are you talking to yourself again. I have learned a lot from you over the years and the biggest thing I learned is that your top notch and know your stuff. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  12. You could structure it like nascar with chase style format with Friday and saturday setting up 1-12 and everyone else fighting for 13th. Points reset for sunday 12 lb/point lead given to the top qualifier and 0 for 12 th spot. Don't think resetting the field would work with 100 entries and giving the 1st place 100 point lead would work. The remaining reset to 0 and they be fighting for 13th to 20th. That way you would still attract people who can not fish everyday and keep someone into the running for some money if they have a bad day or boat issues. i would suggest running a 3 man limit heaviest box with a smaller prize for heaviest fish. Anyone can catch one big fish, but you need to be on your game to put 12 big ones in the cooler for 3 days to win. Personally I say 1-2 man limit because I hate keeping them, ha ha ha. With a $100-$200 entry fee would be well worth the money. If the fall LOC is running you could make it lake wide and use the LOC weigh stations as verifications for total weight. Have an email set up and people can take a picture of the sheet verifying weight by the weigh station and send it in daily. Just my 2 cents

We decided to hit the 80 to 90 fow and head west for 7 hours and then head east for the next 7 hours. We did very well on lakers. only got 4 kings, 8 coho's and 1 brown and the rest were lakers. We lost count but believe we were well over 80 fish for the weekend. Had about 10 that were between 17-19 pounds. We decided not to weigh in because you know they would not last. Will be running again saturday.
  14. Laker, for browns and cohos I use an Okuma 7 light/medium action spinning combo with 12 lb test. I only use these in early spring. I tried it last year on a king with running a J Plug. Nope on the initial run, it broke the rod and burned the reel in less than 20 seconds. Game face, It was a blast. I had 3 rookies on board who never caught a king. The 14lbr was the toughest to bring in because he was wrapped up and was comming in side ways, lol. Jax, try this link to my buddy's face book page. He posted them a couple. If that does not work, I'll post them once I unload my camera. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fb ... =1&theater
  15. Thanks Vince, how did you do? I noticed you netting a few out there. I was in the blue Thompson next to you. i hope you did not think I was trying to crowding you when we got to the point, that was not my intent but I was bouncing between 4-6 fow. Wanted to make sure I was giving our planers enough separation room but stay as deep as possible there. I know there is a couple of big rocks on that point.
  16. Yes, i was shocked that the kings were there this morning. Got them around 8am. Especially on ultrlight spinning rods, they don't hold too much line and with planners out you definitely do not have enough time to chase them. Hand on the spool and try to get them to change their mind is always fun.
  17. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Reel Awakening ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):4/1/12 Time on Water:7am to 12pm Weather/Temp:freaking cold, water 41-43 Wind Speed/Direction: 10knots or less Waves: calm to 2ft Surface Temp: Location:Oak Orchard LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits:30 Total Boated:20 Species Breakdown: Kings and Browns Hot Lure: Thunder stick Trolling Speed: 2.2-2.8 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 6ft to 20ft Lure Depth: ==================== Had to get the boat out this weekend for the shakedown before the first charter as this was the only weekend before I get back from vacation. We headed west of the jetties and started putting out the sticks. First rod to fire was a small brown. Not a bad start after 15 minutes. Then the starboard planer fires and starts screaming, before we could get the rod out of the holder the second starboard fires and it too is screaming. Looked back and these 2 were dancing and running back and forth. At first I thought maybe steelies or atlantics. Got them in and had the first 2 kings of the year 19lbr and 14lbr. Had a couple of double and tripples and a few 20 minute lulls. Had another king on however after he spooled the ultrlight (got the first on these rods), the hook came out. Steve says, Awww S%^T he's off, then before he could turn the handle on the reel a small brown tagged the stick.... Great day on the water even though it was cold rained and sleeted.
  18. I ran the same line, rods, and reels that I use for summer salmon and steelies. I run a 20lb florocarbon leader all year. I used to run a 10lb leader but forgot to change it once summer started and it was not until Aug and several break offs did I figure this out. I have not seen any difference in catch rates. I am going to try the 20lb invisibraid this year. Just my 2 cents Tim
  19. I am selling my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer 4x4 with V-6 engine. This is extended with 3rd row seat. It has 120,000 highway miles with oil changes every 5000 miles. Newer tires, brakes, and towing package. This vehicle sells from $13,000 to $11,000, so save yourself some money. We no longer need a large vehicle, so we decided to sell it. No know defects, no damage, no rust and recently had it inspected without any troubles. Runs Great!! If you interested PM me and I can email you pictures. Tim
  20. Could you tell me your "go to colors". I notice that there are a lot of colors and I do not want to spend a small fortune on something that I may only use a few times a year. Also do you tip your jigs with artifical baits or meat?
  21. You would be ok at Dick's sporting goods the employee discount is not all that great lol. The discount only applies to the original price, so if sales price is less you get the sales price. No discount on firearms, electronics, or golf clubs.. We do get to Pro prder firearms and Optics from the manufactures which are about 60% off and takes about 3 months to get. If Gander Mountain ever came to the Southern Tier, this Dick's sales would probably drop by half.
  22. Bill, you made the right decision! Most of my childhood memories are from fishing with my father.. As, a single father for 8 years I hung up fishing all together because they youngest gets sea sick (we tried everything). Before you know it they will off to college and you'll wonder where the time went..
  23. Dbutts, call them and ask for the Lodge Manager Emmer. I believe we have all the manauals and hardware in the back room. The person you spoke too, obviously does not know this. No sure of his hours but I would not accept any answer unless it comes from him. I did not see any other break the doors down deals, but Sunday is the new sales week and the start of inventory. The bows are on clearance, notice one PSE (I think) orginally $620 mark down to $399. Couple of others down from $400 to $200. As IA bowhunter posted, the 15 ladder stands are $37.50 down (originally $119) IA Bowhunter, yes I do work in the Lodge area. I am not there much as they reduced hours after Christmas and I have a full time job. I will be there 6pm-10pm this Weds & Thurs. I am trying to get corporate to carry trolling stuff, more than just 1 NK and 1 Stinger colors. This would be a new venture for them to carry these products so I am sure this will be a slow process. I have given a general list of products that most trolling fisherman use. It is now in the buyer's hands but probablly will not happen until next year. Tim
  24. You welcome, there are crazy deals. Sold a lady a $160 paid of youth ski boots for $12. There is a lot of stuff that is very cheap that the employees do not know about until they scan the item. I got 4 sets of wallyee planner board lites almost 90% off. All hunting clothing is 50% off clearence prices now. Ladder stands like you said are very cheap. Glad i could help out. I work again tomorrow night and if there are any other smoking deals I'll let you know saturday.
