  1. If you let the crud sit over night and it dries, and just crumbs off because it is fully dry then it has no cottonwood in it. In Oz it is all fleas, when we were done, I put the rods away, and pulled them out the next morning and it just fell off. Cottonwood retains water and takes forever to dry. A couple weeks ago we had cotton wood terrible, it was all over the surface, this is under the surface down 30-40’. You guys in the western part might still have cottonwood, but deff not on the east end. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. There is not a new flea that the DEC is aware, I believe what we are seeing is a very fast population rise of the fish hook flea. Every year we get 2-3 weeks of these then the water gets too hot and the spiny water fleas break out, which are easier to get rid of. Here is an article I found online. https://www.in.gov/dnr/files/spiny_and_fishhook_water_flea.pdf We will see how long they last this year, before we get some relief. What I had Monday was deff all fleas, when they dried, they just fell off the lines. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. It has been good to great bite all day!!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Out of Oz today it was all fleas!!! No cotton wood on the lines at all, very very little left on the water. About 2’weeks if this species of flea, then we will get the spinny water flea and things will Get better. They just fall off most lines, so we are actually able to go back to lighter lines. 5. Spliced in 100-120’ of 50lb mono today. That fixed it, as long as the 30lb does not stay in the water. They were bad out of Oz today!! Capt Rich. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. They will walk you through, literally step by step on the phone. Give them all the details you can!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. When does it shut off??? Does it turn right back on?? Did you call Furuno? They have the best tech support in the market!!! I have the 587, also had the 620 prior to that, love these units!!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. I ran 4 riggers to start on my Thompson, but then went down to 3. I now run 3 riggers on my 11’6” beam, with kicker, run my chute rigger right over my kicker. 3 riggers, 2 dipseys 1-3 coppers. Capt Rich. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. Once the thermocline sets up, you will need to find where 60-62 meets the bottom. Until that point, I would start in 30’ and Work my way out until I find what you are looking for. Just remember these fish will venture into warmer water to feed if the bait is in there. Look for the birds first thing in the morning, if there is any actively pounding the water, slide into, or out to where they are working and cover from top to bottom with your presentation. 10. Not necessarily true, this weekend I was running 30-50’, my browns were coming on 1.5,2,2.5,3,4,5 color cores, along with 30’ divers. You have find out where the fish are in the column and work it!! Mid day, yes fish closer to the bottom, but early morning the fish have been from surface down. We had browns crashing bait on the surface this weekend when we were setting up. In fact we had our few bites on a flat lines rogue back 175’. Remember browns like warm water, 60-65 degrees, especially early morning is nothing to them!!! Capt Rich. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. You will need to find where 60-62 degrees meets the bottom. Today we were in 30-50’, the fish were 5’ down to the bottom. By next weekend they could be deeper, or in same depth, depending on winds and temps. Capt Rich. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. Yes we boxed 8 browns today, lost a few others before heading out for Kings. Which we boated 5 and lost 4 others. Temps are changing, so you will have look, around. Earlier in the morning was good, leadcores and divers were best for the browns. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. This morning was a little slow but managed 6, then we had 9 this afternoon, dropped too many this afternoon. Deep was barren, stayed close to the bait and just worked. All spoons for me today. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. The water has not warmed up enough yet for the fleas. The cottonwood was terrible last weekend. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. It will be a searching mission for the first few hours. I don’t think they will have gone too far, setup in 90’ and head deeper watching your sonar. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. What are you looking to catch, Browns or salmon?? Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Kings have been anywhere from surface down. The surface temps have been 51-56, so they can be anywhere. I run 12lb leaders on my longer cores, and that handles these spring time Kong’s with no problem, as long as you have very good drags. But with this wind, who knows how deep they will be, time will tell. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. With this big wind things will change. We won’t know until we can get out Friday as to what changed. Browns were good, Kings were good, all out of Oz and Mexico. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
