  1. I think whoever coined that phrase had you in mind.
  2. They had the body shape of a trout but not the color. I just never heard of anyone catching smelt on a spoon. :?:
  3. Fished Friday out of Myers Point, mostly to the the north. Caught nine fish. However, 4 of them were 8" or less. Quite unusual for a couple of pros like us Some of the little guys had a mottled pattern, not like a Laker. Could they have been Smelt or some other fish?
  4. Hey Longline, Good reply except for the part about the current you are trolling into. Your speed relative to the water will always be the same regardless of the current, with or against it. Hence, blowback will be constant, all other things being equal. You can tell it's off season. We have too much time on our hands.
  5. Hey Stinger, Why don't you fish the big O? I see your name on the open water discussion frequently. BTW You are right about lakers on the fingers. We catch dozens evert year on about anything you drag behind a boat. My biggest last year was 34 inches.
  6. Dock worker for a trucking Co. Electronics Technician Draftsman Electrician State Policeman Retiree ( Doesn't pay as well but the hours are a lot better )
  7. What if you trapped minnows in the same body of water that you were fishing in?
  8. Only 38 votes! That is a pretty dismal showing considering there are hundreds of people who read the board. Perhaps they just don't have a preference.
  9. For those who fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.

  11. Well I thing it's a grand idea. Shuts out a lot of "peepers". However I see that whomever is running the site hasn't got their act together yet. I have to login 4 times in order to get this far. Once for each thread and once for this post. This situation, if not corrected will kill the board. Imagine logging in 10 or 15 times just to look at the latest reports! Hope they get things straightened out soon.
  12. Thanks, next time they go back in the lake.
  13. We kept a 5# Brown last summer thinking it would be a good "eater". Turned out it was quite "fishey". Is that because a 5#er is still too large or is that just the taste of all Brown Trout? BTW I am aware of the oily area down each side of the fish and I used a good bit of lemon juice.
  14. I have had the same problem since the great crash of '06. Try logging in on the home page of the site, not after you have read some threads. Watch the border at the top, if it says "Welcome Guest" you are not logged in and it will kick yopu back to the login page. Hope this helps. It is very annoying.
  15. What's the difference between a flasher and a dodger? What would be the application of each?
  16. Perhaps someone did some seeding of eggs on their own a few years ago.
  17. LL, Thanks for all information. Now I know why they call you Longline!
  18. Ahh yes, the Coriolis Effect. I might have known. The same reason our bathtub water swirles down the drain Reeljerks, thanks for the link
  19. Does anyone know the technical explaination for an upwelling? How do they effect fishing?
