  1. Rod, this mat had that edge border piece on it, it looks like the exact same stuff as on the website. I guess in the right situation it would be fine but I know that if its not against something on all 4 sides or locked down somehow it does slide and its really bad on a wet floor. If it had some type of rubber grips on the bottom it might be ok.
  2. Rod, good luck with this stuff, actually side to side was not the issue it was sliding backwards as it was not covering the entire floor. if you have it covering the entire floor where all sides are against something to keep it in place it might be ok. tight lines and screamin drags
  3. I have worked on the back of a boat that has something very similar if not the same product on the floor. While it helps keep the scuffing from the cooler down it can be a very dangerous product as well since its not fastened down. several times while leaning out to net a fish while standing on this stuff it has slipped on the floor, luckily no one has taken a swim yet. I know from personal experience with this stuff you would never see it in my boat.
  4. haven't been over to the launch itself but I know there has been a lot of flow ice all through the launch area and the channel all this week.
  5. Ray, I did not throw back a $ fish, the fish hit at 8:11 pm. was boated at 8:37 pm the derby closes at 8 pm. every day but the last day. we were out fishing for fun and all fish were released to fight another day. LOC derby Rule on times: "Agrees that the Weigh Master must weigh in all fish entered in the LOC Derby at an official LOC Weigh Station on the day caught. Agrees to these weigh station hours for the Spring Derby. May 4th-12th, 9:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. May13th, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Derby ends a 1:00 on May 13th, 2006. Check with weigh-in station for Summer Derby hours"
  6. what a way to relax after a long winter! been hunting daylight to noon every day since the season opened. this evening we decided to take the new boat out and play,,,,to see if it catches salmon as good as the old boat. we fished an hour and did 4 kings, all released to fight another day. took pictures of the 2 biggest salmon, the bigger one was probably close to 26lbs and the initial run was 682 feet. sorry for the lousy pictures, the good camera is in my turkey vest, so we took the pictures with the camera phone.
  7. YT, absolutely not, Its just a fishing for fun derby with a chance at a little $ and hopefully a way to help promote our fishery even more. This derby is simply an inexpensive way to get as many people out for some fishing as possible. Thats why the entry fee is so little, it is a way to allow everyone to join in and try to win some cash. If we get some new folks in town and they like it here it helps the local businesses and when they go home and talk about the area it helps via word of mouth which we hope also brings in more people. not trying to compete or replace the pro-ams, thats why we are not doing them when the pro-ams are going on.
  8. Ok fisher folks who would be interested in having a Sodus Point challenge fishing derby? kinda late for this year to have a spring and fall challenge derby but we are thinking of having a fall derby this year and then a april and august derby next year. The idea we are kicking around is similar to what Fairhaven has done in the past. We would like to do something to promote our little village and the great fishery we have in our back yard. 100% payout both via cash and prizes We are probably looking at $50.00 per boat 2 day derby heviest score wins. 10 points per fish 1 point per pound. no limit on # of people per boat ( obviously up to a safety standpoint) 5 fish limit - 5 biggest per boat, not 5 per person. payout goes to the boat and its up to the captain and crew to divy up the $ charters and private boats compete together. still thinking about the % payouts and "door prizes" and how to do the door prizes. As far as the door prizes go I was thinking that each crew member from the teams submit their names and names are drawn so its not just the boat that is eligible for the prizes. Who would be interested in this? any ideas? input? We are looking at August since there is the pro-am in July. If there is enough interest maybe we can do a spring and fall challenge next year so we have some time to get the word out. If intersted post a reply here or feel free to shoot me an email or pm. good luck and tight lines!
  9. woody, have them check out Arney's there in the point, they have a place to park the van and might have a slip for them.
  10. it might be the private derby a bunch of guys from Ithaca do every year. there is a bunch of guys that come up to the point in early/mid April that have a friendly derby. It would be nice to have a Sodus Point fishing derby though!
  11. I know the launch at sodus point is open enough to launch small boats, they were retrieving the sunken snow machines today. there is a lot of flow ice and still good ice cover on the bay. You may be able to launch and get out the chute but if the wind changes directions you may be in for a tough return. the ice is still very heavy on the shore line with a good amount of floating ice in tight. good luck if you venture out.
