  1. Hey guys I know this is a little off for this sight But I have to see if anyone else does any saltwater fishing? The boats out of New Hampshire offer a trip for $80.00 for 12 hours. I have been on a quite a few of these over the past couple of years and have not been disappointed. I am going again this Sunday from 6:00am to 6:00pm . The great part about these trips is that you get to pick your spot on the boat and do not have to line up hours before boat departs. The last time I went out my son and I caught about 40 fish and had sore arms for a couple of days. The fight of these fish does not compare to a salmon but it is something different to get thru and they taste great!! Most boats will be shuting down at the end of the month, but if you can get on one and try it! PJ
  2. Thanks Guys Hank from what I have read about it you are dead on, it all depends what is inside. The boat sat for 2 years before I bought it and I did have a slight leak that was controlled with the auto pump while in the water so I am betting the boot has a hole. I just have to hope that the housing is not ruined that seems to be the most expensive part about it. PJ
  3. I have a 23' baha 230 fisherman that I bought earlier this year and I love it. There are some issues but I think that it is because it sat for 2 years before I bought it. Mine is also a 1988 but it runs great seems to be very sea worthy handled some 4 to 6 footers no problem. I would have the survey done and they tell you it's good pull the trigger!! You have to make the call yourself but I would buy another baha. Just my two cents. PJ
  4. I just had the boat winterized and when I picked it up they told me that either the u-joint or the gimbel bearing would need some work. My question is how much would these repairs be? I have an alpha one outdrive. I am going to get it done just depends on cost as to when. PJ
  5. I had the boat winterized this week and one of the services offered was bottom cleaning. I live in Vermont so I am planning to leave the boat at the Lake for the winter. Should I pay $110.00 for bottom cleaning or go up and clean it myself. Is there any products that you guys would reccomend? I was thinkinking of using the cleaning agent in one bucket and rinse water in another. Any advise?? PJ
  6. I quit at noon so if you called after that I would not have heard you. That is pretty funny though the fish was headed that way!! Out in front of the river looked like a war zone how was the fishing there? I just did not want to get involved up there. I stayed south of the pack a little. PJ

Saturday got up at 5:30 to a parade of boats leaving the little Salmon river so my somn and I decided to join them. Lots of talking on the radio and totally different screen as we went out fish showing up. Set up in 45 fow and started a NE troll at 2.2. Lots of current down under in that direction. Trolled about 15 minutes watched someone next to us lose one at the boat then my rigger fired with a bloody nose J-Plug in silver and reeled a King about 10lbs. Son was driving and got nervous of the pack and we got away from where we wanted to be for a bit. About an hour later other rigger fires and my son reels in the first one's twin. We set back up in 60 fow and troll SW and both dipsys fire. One has a green glo ladder back J-Plug tthe other hits a green and white spin doctor with a hammer fly. I grab the hammer fly and son grabs the J-Plug his is screaming. Mine runs out 200' and spits hook his keeps going he says dad 350 450 550 650, and he tights drag before I can say let him keep going and snap!! Everything gone would have liked to get a look at that one but not to be. If anyone gets a fish with a green glow J-Plug and Kelly green dipsy give me a shout and let me know how big that fish was. I told my son he tail hooked a 8lber. Anyway I am done for the year boat to be winterized this week. Good luck to you guys still up there. PJ

Got back at 3pm and went back out lake definitly had calmed down. Set dipsy out 275' with green pro troll with hammer fly and another white glow spin doctor with white glow fly. Downriggers had mag glow alwive and another mag ice frog. 12. I have a set of Scottys I bought and put on a friends boat and used in Lake Champlain. When I boat my new/used boat it came with mag 10's. In all fairness the mag 10s are older but boy are they slow. I will be putting my Scottys on the new boat and give the mag 10s to my friend. PJ
  13. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8/8-8/9 Time on Water:10 hours total Weather/Temp:sunny then cloudy Wind Speed/Direction:calm saturday thensoutheast at 10 Waves: flat to 3' Surface Temp: 70 Location:mexico bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 7 Total Boated:4 Species Breakdown:all kings Hot Lure: glow frog Trolling Speed: 2.2 to 2.4 Down Speed: 2.6 Boat Depth: 100-120 Lure Depth: 95 Fished Saterday in the Brennan Beach derby from 5:30am to 1:oopm and went 1 for 4 a 10 pound king. Went back out at 6:00pm and went 2 for 2 with a 13lb and 12lb. Sunday 7:00 to 9:00 1 fo1 shaker. Broke the steering cable on Sunday and the boat spun with the waves and was wraping the lines in the motors. In a panic I went to cut the dipsy line and cut the rigger line instead of course that had the Ray Jefferson probe on it and a 13lb torpedo weight as well. People were saying a lot of fish on copper back 450' I do not have a copper set up but it seemed most fish were taken on plain spoons not a lot on the dipsies or flashers. Not many fish over 20 however the tourney winners were 28 for 1st and I believe 26 and 24 can't remember I did not go to the awards just heard later. Now I need to get steering cable, rigger cable, Ray Jefferson probe and torpedo weight!!! Thankfully I have a 20hp Honda kicker to get us back in. PJ SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ====================
  14. Hi Shawn, I live just to the south of you in Shaftsbury Vt. I just bought my boat and fish out of Mexico. I to started on lake champlain and now fish Ontario much better fishing. I chartered many times before I bought the boat I have now between the charters and this sight I feel I have a good background of what I need to do on the lake. Give me a call sometime and maybe we can get together. (802)688-4401 PJ Weber
  15. I just picked up a couple of Big Weenie Brand trolling flies with the vibrating system anyone using these? With any success?? I haven't seen anything here about them. PJ
  16. Nice job Gotta Bite can't wait to get back up. Nice pictures PJ
  17. I never thought that it would make that much of a difference but when I got my new boat it came with a Ray Jefferson unit. Went out on tuesday afternoon and put out flasher fly combo and noticed that it did not seem to have the action that I had seen on charter boats I had been on. Went out on wednesday and decided to run the unit. Found my down speed was .7 mph picked it up to 2.0-2.3. Had to adjust almost every turn as speed would go from 3.7 to about 1.3 depending on direction. I am now a believer that if you want to catch fish you need a unit. I do not know which is better but get a unit to tell you speed at the level you are fishing!!! PJ
  18. PJ Weber : Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6/30/2009-7/1/2009 Time on Water: 3:00-4:00pm, 6:00am-9:00am Temp/Weather:overcast then sunny Wind Speed/Direction: (se at 5 MPH) Waves: (1-2 Footers, Calm) Surface Temp: 69 Location: Mexico LAT/LONG: (GPS Cords) =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits:5 Total Boated: 3 Species Breakdown:all browns Hot Lure: nbk only Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.1mph Boat Depth: 50' Lure Depth: 35' ==================== Well started out I was putting my new to me boat in a slip at Salmon Country Marina. Bought a 1988 23' Baha Cruiser and finally got it to the water. On tuesday launched at about 2:30pm and as I am heading out thru the river some boats are heading in seems strange but ok. Starts to rain and radio says strong storms in Herkamer so I keep going. Needless to say it poured then thunder and lightning and haul ass back to the new slip. Today left dock at 6:00am and headed out to beautiful calm day with maybe 1 footers. Set up a couple of downriggers with glow frog and nbk. Fishfinder looks like a desert so I figure nothing here because of storm. My son is driving and I decide to try all my new gadgets so out goes a planner board as I am getting myself untangled from the lines of planner board and downrigger nbk rigger fires and my son says Dad I say WHAT he says fish and I say get it not believing him then in comes a 5lb brown. Get all set back up and troll around a while to no avail and decide to head back to where we caught the brown imagine just as we hit about 5' from first brown another hits and I land another 5lb brown. We fish til 9:00am and head in as we have to drive back to Vermont so my son can go to work. 5 hits 3- 5lb browns landed all within 20' of each other and all on nbk spoon. Thanks to all the info I got on this site and from charter captains that have taken me out I have learned a few basics I guess. Thanks for all your help PJ ==================== (add pictures and any other details not captured above here)
