  1. I like my Scottys bought them used 5 years ago never a problem. Switching from 12lb torpedos to 15lb this year and not worried about the riggers being able to handle them at all!! PJ Weber
  2. I just looked at the video again and I really think the value is in being able to be on a #2 or #3 setting and less line. Maybe 40 or 50 feet does not mean much but IMHO getting away from the boat with less line is important but I do not know so I think I may try them. I was hoping that someone had tried these already and could save me some money by telling me they do not work!! I do not see anything more than the dipsy would be flying around it would have more weight to it so watch your heads but not like the Torpedo weights that would have another weight clipped to diver.
  3. I was just looking at a you tube video on michigananglar.com of a 10oz. lead weight that is add to dipsy diver to help get deeper with less line out. Has anyone tried these or seen the video? They say, depending on speed, this additional weights should get you down 110 feet on setting 2 with 180' of line out. PJ
  4. Went to Mexico launch yesterday ice out 1/2 a mile into the bay and river totally locked up! Gonna be a while temps around zero last night.
  5. I am thinking of heading to the west end of the lake for a week in May. I have a camp in New Haven NY (between Oswego and Mexico) and I was wondering if anyone might be interested in trading a week at your camp for a week at mine. I understand that May is pretty popular time to be west and I would be willing to trade a week in August or September when the fishing is hot on the east end. My camp is a 2 bedroom 1 bath with a grill but no stove. For now just want to see if there is any interest but if there is we can see if we can work something out. PJ Weber
  6. I am thinking about changing over from steel cable to braid for my downrigger cables, Anyone have pros and cons?? PJ
  7. Could not agree more with r5dogs I have owned the Cimitar for 3 years blade is as good as the day I bought it.
  8. I have done the 6 pack thing too and have gone out of Gloucester. Most of the time it is a quick trip for me so I jump on a party boat try to do marathon trips (12 hours). Shared and 6 packs are pretty pricey at about 250.00 to 300.00 a piece although they do have some good ones. I pay 75.00 to 80.00 for the marathons and usually do well last year I brought home over 80lbs of cod and haddock fillets in one trip but also had trips that I came home with a lot less. Weather you fish Gloucester (usually Stellwagon bank) or Hampton (Jefferys Ledge) If the fish are there and hungry you get them. Another boat that I fish from is the Bunny Clark I have had some very productive trips on that boat. Hey Turf funny you have a trip on the 19th as I do too!! Chartered the Yellowbird 60' boat 15 of us going!! Best part is it is a company trip (free)!
  9. I agree usually get some Haddock in April and May but I love October and November. Last year last day out was December 16 all the 15 to 20 pound pollack you wanted love to eat all those cold water fish! But looking forward to the big lake too.
  10. Little off the beaten path but boat is not ready yet and I was itching to do a bit of fishing somewhere so off to Hampton Beach NH to do a little Party boat fishing. Much like most of the reports out of Mexico Bay the ocean needs a little more time. Total for trip 2 Haddock, One cod about 5lbs,, 20 Red Fish (ocean Perch). Some good eating but was hoping to do a little better. Back over one more time in a couple of weeks then to Lake Ontario till September.
  11. Guys i have a 1982 Chris Craft Scorpion 21' with a Shoreliner single axle trailer and a not working 200hp Johnson outboard that would need to be replaced or rebuilt. I have not run boat since 2009 and looking to get sell her. The boat and trailer were last registered in Vt by myself and I do not have a title as it is not needed in VT. The trailer is a Shoreliner but I registered as homemade (easier in VT) as the number plate has been lost. I am hoping to get $800.00 or best offer Hull is in good shape as is trailer. PM me an email address if you would like to see pics. PJ
  12. I have a 9.8 Nissan outboard with a long shaft no electric start. I have not used in about 5 years been in basement. Would like to get $350.00 or best offer for it if anyone is interested. I have a camp in Mexico area or I will be going to the ELOTSA flea market next weekend.PM for more info PJ Weber
  13. Hey guys I have been out all weekend. Lostfromflorida, I was out with Al Gauron out of Hampton Beach. I also like the Yellowbird who is out of Hampton Beach but formally he was from Newburyport. I usually go over for 2 or 3 days and try to get on the marathon trips (12 hour trips) I seem to get more fish with thjese trips but just like fishing Lake O we were blown off on Friday did not do very well Saturday then nailed them on Sunday! PJ
  14. Thanks guys I will take a look at the Honda web site. PJ
  15. Hey guys thought some of you might want to hear about cod and haddock fishing. My son and I went out on a head boat last Sunday caught over 80 fish kept 37 nothing real big but nice size cod and Haddock. About 60lbs of fillets for the 2 of us. If you like haddock and cod this is a good time to get to New Hampshire head boats or charters!! PJ
  16. Has any one heard of a recall on 15hp and 20hp Hondas due to fuel issues?I am having problems with mine and a friend has told me there is a recall due to fuel cell problems. Thnaks PJ
  17. Vince- Depends on species but the Bunny Clark out of Ogunquit does very well. It is a head boat targeting cod and haddock. Try to get on the marathon or extreme trips as regular trips can get crowded. Check their website. PJ Weber
  18. I have a 23' Baha and have had quite a bit of work to it recently and budget is running a little thin. I found out when I had it winterized the upper seal is leaking. Had them leave the lower end off because I could not afford this fix at the time but was wondering if I can do this one myself. How tough is it to replace upper seal in a Mercruiser inboard/outboard? The other question I have is my 2003 20hp Honda kicker motor is running at a very high idle and my mechanic is telling me he does not know why. I replaced carberator with a brand new one because before it would not stay running and he told me it was an enrichment valve but that would need to be back ordered due to the Japan troubles this past summer so I had carb replaced because I was told it would be quicker. Now I have the Idle problem anyone have any suggestions for this problem? Thanks PJ
  19. Does anyone know where I can cross reference carberators per manufactor? I have a mercury carb and would like to price its equal in a Rochester or edlebrock. PJ Weber
  20. Just found out my carb is shot. I have a 1988 Baha Cruiser with a 5.0 liter mercruiser if anyone has a carb that would fit please let me know. PJ Weber (802)688-4401 or PM Thanks
  21. Thanks Guys it makes me feel a little better to know that we did the right thing! My sons and I did take a boater safty course a few years ago here in Vermont but I will be looking into another one. Paniced or scared it is a comforting voice when you are in trouble and the Coast Gaurd is asking for your coordinace. Now if we can get the boat fixed we will be back at it fathers day weekend after we do a real good check of bilge area and pumps! Thanks again guys. PJ Weber Salmon Reaper
