  1. Took the boat out for the first time Saterday and rushed to get out and still did not make it out till 10:00am. Have not been out because kicker motor needed work and with the disaters in Japan parts were on back order and no idea when they would be in. So left dock with intent of trolling with inboard/outboard and was not sure if I could get it slow enough but we were going to try. Had trouble slowing to 1.8 so settled at 2.2 and within 15 minutes hooked up to a 4lb brown. That was the only hit we had and shortly after that we could see water dripping inside dog house cover and thought it odd but it had been raining so we kept going maybe 5 minutes later my son says dad that water looks worse and as I lift dog house water is spraying everywhere! I see that water is up to risers and rising, engine is still running but sputtering. We are about 1/2 mile from shore and call out for help to coast guard. They are great talking us through it as we motor our way to shore motor barely running and finally stalls about 20' outside of Catfish creek. We row into catfifish creeek and are able to hook up to dock. Scared more than injured we see that water has stopped coming in and 1 of the pumps is slowly pumping water out and we get a tow back to Little Salmon river to have boat looked at I believe now that an intake cooling hose must have split. As I was sitting at the marina I remeber a charter boat captain telling me as we listened to a Coast Guard response that you should only call Coast Guard when you are in certain danger of sinking and never call if motor is still running. Maybe I panicked but with myself and 2 adult sons on board I was scared to death. Was it the right decision to call Coast Guard or should I have tried to get other help or just do what I did and not call unless we stalled? Coast Guard never came to scene but talked to us while we worked our way to shore sure was a comfort to know they were there and would be there if needed. We thanked them many times before turning off radio. What do you guys think should I have called or not. Thanks, Still nervous PJ Weber Salmon Reaper

I know when I lost mine Upgrady on this sight gave me this guys email so I guess I can pass it on. I do not know if he still has them or not he told me they go fast and he had 200 bodies for them. 5. I have a 23' Baha and use a 20hp Honda kicker with EZ steer but do not have swim platform. My friend has the same Honda kicker but 9.9hp he has told me many times he should have gone with at least a 15hp. Worth the extra HP"S and money when windy!! I have electric start and have battery charged from motor Just my opinion PJ Weber

  16. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: PJ Weber Salmon Reaper ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: 4 hours Saturday afternoon, 4 hours Sunday morning Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction:none Waves: none Surface Temp: Location: Mexico Bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1 Total Boated:0 Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Well did the shakedown thing on Saturday and Sunday fished from Little Salmon river up to Catfish Creek and out in front of the ledges to the plant. As everyone else is saying crystal clear water no fish. One hit on a NBK but he was gone when I picked up the rod. Heard one guy on the radio Sunday morning say he picked up a Sheephead!! Boat ran good weather was great but I guess you can't ask for fish too! One thing that was weird was the small flies all around the boat on Sunday mourning from about 6:00am till 7:30 or so about an 1" thick on my rocket launcher and covered my boat real thick in the eyes and all did not like that much. Any way boat is in the water and we will be back up the weekend of the 8th of May hope to do a little better. One more thing coming back into the little Salmon by the state launch make sure you stay well inside the first and second red can. I moved over alittle on Saturday aftrernoon and dinged my prop on a rock then another guy came in a little later and said the same thing happened to him! I guess I will stay more towards the middle now. Ran on Sunday with no vibration at all so I think prop will be ok if I can stay off the rocks!!! PJ Weber Salmon Reaper
  17. I know that this is a little off topic but wanted to let you guys know that the cod fishing right now is fantastic!! Every spring my son and I take a trip to New Hampshire to do a little cod fishing. Just got back and it was great we caught 25 keeper cod (over 24") along with numerous short cod also caught 12 haddock and 10 pollack in 2 days!! I will be up to the lake next weekend to launch the boat and do a little trolling. I do love the fishing on lake Ontario but these cod and haddock sure taste good. If you guys ever want to take a trip look up Al Gauron deep sea fishing or Yellowbird deep sea fishing these are party boats but you sure catch a lot of fish. We filled 8 gallon bags with fillets for the freezer. Gonna have a fish fry tonight. Still can't wait for salmon and trout fishing 1 more week. PJ
  18. Glen- I brought my boat up to Salmon Country on Saturday to have some work done. You are right the lake was cranking I did not get there til noon but no boats out that I saw. I will be going back in 2 weeks hopefully the browns will be a little thicker by then. I have the Baha right next to the launch at Salmon Country (Salmon Reaper) say hi on your way thru! See ya soon PJ

  20. Another question that maybe personal choice but here goes. Which do you prefer dipsy divers or Walker deeper diver and which colors are prefered. Just went to Fish307 in Lake George and the guy said they had a hard time getting dipsy divers but worked with Walkers last year with good success. Also I always used a darker color Matalic purple or Kelly greeen he was using wonderbread any comments on this? PJ Weber (new boat name Salmon Reaper)
  21. Thanks Brian I will stop down to see you this summer I believe that you are nback in Mexico in June. I am going up in a couple weeks to look at a cottage in Richland just south of the state park to stay while I am there this summer can't wait!! Have a great Christmas! PJ
  22. Thanks guys you have given me somethings to think about. Scott, funny you mention the Tekota 800 I have one that I use cod fishing although no line counter. Maybe I can purchase a line counter and switch over. I also saw some set-up for sale in palaski at fat Nancy's for around 200.00 I believe probably should go that way. If there is a way for me to tangle it will happen lost tackle makes you learn quick!!! Thanks again PJ
  23. Looking to get a copper rod reel combo and don't really know what I need. I looked on Ebay and saw some with Okuma combos with 300' of copper line but I thought I heard guys run 400' or 450' I fish out of Mexico and don't really know anything about copper set-up any help would be great (how to attach leader, how much and what type of backing ect...) Thanks PJ Weber
