The St Catharines Game and Fish Association is celebrating the 50th Annual Spring Salmon Derby this year & we're kicking things off with a party! Join us Saturday February 28 from 1130am - 3pm at the Canadian Polish Society Hall at 43 Facer Street in St.Catharines. There will be a Fish n Chips lunch, cash bar, raffle prizes, 50/50 draw, a breakdown of Derby prizes/format & rules. Also we will be having a guest panel discussion with 5 local charter boat captains/tournament anglers to learn a few tips & tricks to catch more Salmon & Trout this season. The discussion will be lead by Shane Thombs from FINtastic Sportfishing and feature the following guests: Aldo Nava - Niagara Fishing Adventures John Mastrandrea - Salmon Limited Sportfishing Tim Tim John Versluis - Team Fishaholics David Pereira - Team Sam 'n' 'Roc Finally everyone who attends the party will get a ballot to win a Scotty Seeker System courtesy of Scotty Fishing Products Save the date, we're really looking forward to this!

The St Catharines Game & Fish Association is proud to announce that the 50th Annual Spring Salmon Derby presented by SCOTTY DOWNRIGGERS is set to run from Saturday April 4, 2026 to Saturday May 30, 2026. Some of the highlights include: Biggest Salmon overall will win $10,000 (yes we have DOUBLED this prize!) Biggest Salmon every week will win $2000! ( Yes we have DOUBLED this too!) Bonus $3,000 from Peters Tackle for the first Salmon to reach 30lbs! We will again award the top 10 places for Salmon, and top 5 prizes for Rainbow, Brown & Lake Trout. The biggest Brown Trout, Lake Trout & Rainbow Trout will each win a Scotty 1116 Pro Pack Downrigger Biggest Salmon overall for the Jr Division will win again a DAS KING Fishing kayak from Broadline Outdoors For the Junior division there will be 3 placings again for all 4 species. Our ticket prices haven't changed either! Still $50 per person $75 for a family ticket & $200 for a boat ticket. Single daily tickets also available for $20 each. Early Bird Draw Prize: All tickets purchased by Sun March 14, 5pm will qualify to win a Garmin UHD2 Echomap95SV ! Save the date! The 2026 Niagara Fishing Tackle Swap is happening again on Saturday January 24 at Eden High School in St Catharines The first 100 paid admissions will recieve a free custom spoon from TNT Fishing Lures All paid admissions will also have chance to win a Humminbird Helix 5 Sonar/GPS unit! There will be over 80 tables from various vendors selling new & used fishing equipment. Three free fishing seminars will also be happening during the day. All proceeds from paid admission will be going to Friends Of Short Hills Park. We look forward to seeing you there!

Greetings everyone! We are really excited about the upcoming Niagara Fishing Tackle Swap that's being presented by the St Catharines Game and Fish Association happening on Sat Jan 25 once again at Eden High School in St Catharines, ON 🇨🇦 On hand there will be a very large variety of new & used fishing gear for sale from many individuals, retailers & companies. Other hilights worth noting are : $5 admission (kids under 16 free) all admission proceeds will be donated to the Out Of The Cold Meal program to help those in our community. All paid entrants get a draw ticket to win a Blackstone Grill, a BBQ tool set from Requip'd Canada & a gift card from Lakeshore Meats First 100 paid entrants through the door will receive a free custom trolling spoon from TNT lures There will also be 3 free seminars presented during the day: 930am - Lyle Gayder from "Hooked On Niagara" will share some tips on fishing in the Niagara Region 1030am - Jason Barnuz will give a presentation on Kayak Fishing 1130am the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources will give a presentation on the State of Lake Ontario Salmon & Trout Some refreshments will also be available. We are looking forward to another great day and hope you can join us!

Lyle Gayder from Hooked on Niagara - Guide Service will present an introduction of the many fishing opportunities in the Niagara Region . Jason Barnucz - The Reel Angle will present an introduction to Kayak Fishing. We will also have a representative from the Ontario Ministry Of Natural Resources to present an update on Lake Ontario These are all free to attend!
