  1. Cant see pic too close but I would guess another Pike took a bite of it or VHS (near gill?) Thats as skinny as they get.
  2. You must be kidding right? No way the DEC allows that.
  3. I have a aluminum Sylvan and just got a new Lowrance HDS 5. My question is how do you secure the transducer cable to the back of the transom? My old one fit through the weep hole but the fittings on the new one wont so I have to go up and over the transom. I want to secure the cable and make it look neat. Any recommendations for securing the cable? Thanks BP
  4. Went there for 1st time. Stayed at Henchens. Nice place. On Monday Got 3 eyes 16',21", 22" all casting my spinners (beadswings) while everyone else was trolling. Didnt see any nets in the water. I was told at the launch it was slow so far this year. Seems like everyone was pounding the same area at the marker entrance trolling. Also got 5 Pike to 33" and 2 giant smallys to 5.75 lbs. Thanks for the info on where to go. BP
  5. Yes.... they're use is they are a sportfish that is fun to catch on light tackle. Come mid summer they are not as easy to catch as now. They have the coolest markings of just about any fish. BP
  6. Ive been wanting to try the Black River Bay. Never been there. I read a few articles from the late 90s early 2000s on how good it was but I know things change. Is that still a top notch eye fishery in spring? Can anyone recommend a launch close to the good area and a place to stay? Any reports from the last 2 days ? Thanks BP
  7. Sindale are you saying you got a 52" Pike in Sandy Creek?? Never heard of 1 that big around here.
  8. I heard about 10-12 years ago they stocked tigers below the dam in the lower but Im not totally sure about that. How does the canal connect with oak orchard in Medina with a small dam or something?
  9. Last year I saw a photo of a 28 lb musky supposedly caught in Lake Alice. Now Im racking my brain trying to figure out how it got there. The only thing I can figure is if Lake Alice connects with the Barge canal somehow, maybe in got it from Lake Erie.?? Anybody else ever hear of any skis coming out of Lake Alice? or Oak Orchard (lower)?
  10. In this area, (Finger Lakes) I don't think they get much bigger than 6, maybe 7lbs. ...maybe.
  11. Was wondering what the visibility looked like? Last week it was all mud and 4". Anyone?
  12. So lets see... $9 outdoors card $42 Canadian license $100 passport $16 per person I68 Border Patrol form and a phone call when you are done. With all due respect, I will be fishing US waters. I am sorry I bought the Canadian License. Do our congressmen know about this?
  13. R.R, I mean after June 9 when you are supposed to have a passport, will you still need this additional form then?
  14. So Rusty Rat, Yeah we've known about it for a long time but did you know you had to call customs when you got back to US soil & have a passport just to fish on Lake Ontario over the Canadian line even if you dont touch Canadian soil??????
  15. Was wondering what veteran Seneca Lake Perch fishermen think of the current Perch fishery there. See Poll.
  16. So to fish Canadian waters this year or next it will cost about $150 bucks including $9 outdoors card, $40 something license, $100 passport. Is there any end to this madness?
  17. Thats interesting. So the fish dont all die when they let the water out and Im real surprised the whole thing doesnt freeze over in winter. It cant be more than 2 foot deep since even when filled it is about 12 feet. Wonder where the walleyes go?
  18. Nice job. Love the hi tech version on the net.
  19. I was told by a very reliable charter captain that come June 09, anglers from the US will need a passport or enhanced Drivers license if crossing into Canadian waters to fish even if the anchor never goes down or you never touch land. On top of that you will need to call customs when you return to the launch or you get in big trouble as Homeland Security is watching with all the cameras setup especially at the Niagara River. Lets say, you are fishing the Niagara Bar and you launch at Youngstown. You fish the green can, maybe venture a little west into Canadian water. At that point you better have a Canadian License, Passport or enhanced ID, and be ready to call customs when you get back to the launch. This is flat out rediculous if this is true. Talk about hassling sportsman. Where are the congressmen...do they even care? Somebody say it aint so. BP
  20. Heres a question Ive often wondered and asked but no one seems to be positive of the answer. When they let the water out of the canal in late fall, and through winter ice where do the fish go? Do they remain in the few feet thats left? do they die? or do they follow the current out when they let the water out? Also how long does it take fish to reappear (Rochester area) when they let the water back in ? Im assuming any fish are coming from Lake Erie? ????????
  21. Was at the bar today. Its a mudhole, 4" visibility and very high water.
  22. Anyone been fishing live bait or jigs near the green can lately?
  23. I came across this photo online so I put it on my website http://www.bpspinners.com/morecoolfishingstuff.html Its at the very bottom. I think this has to be the largest ever photographed because it was only 2 oz shy of 9 lbs. The world record caught in Georgia was 9 lb. 6 oz but no photo. If you get one 5 lbs, thats considered a trophy. Those things fight very well and I like em alot on light tackle. BP
