  1. Congrats to LOU member Jeremy Miller- (Silverbullet)- on winning the 2007 Orleans County Derby!
  2. Fished from pump house to the nose in 100-190 FOW. Went 5 for 8- all nice fish- but all came very deep- 80-110 down. Had one fish take out 500 feet of line before it straightened the hook out on an NBK- I quess the drag was too tight Will be out most nights this week. Good luck to all in the LOC
  3. As of this AM- here are the Orleans Standings Jeremy Miller is still in first place Grand Prize: 30 lb. 13 oz. Salmon: 30 lb. 6 oz...(5th place - 27 lb.) Rainbow: 15 lb. 11 oz...(5th place - 13 lb. 14 oz.) Brown Trout: 15 lb. 5 oz...(5th place - 14 lb. 3 oz.) Lake Trout: 13 lb. 15 oz...(5th place - 9 lb. 9 oz.)
  4. Jeff I have some rods/reels at the house and/or on the boat. Stop in at the house next time you go by. Foster
  5. I heard small-craft advisory with possible water spouts for Friday and Saturday. It will be tough fishing for the first few days of the derby!
  6. Pat- I am still at work- but I want to get out tonight as well. Do you know what the conditions are?? Foster
  7. They are the same as the LOC derby- except you can only fish between the Genny and Olcott (If I remember correctly). All other rules are the same
  8. These isn't a link. They do not have the results published anywhere on line. Narbey's was supposed to do it but there web-site was not updated. www.attheoak.com has been posting the results in their daily fishing report- you can check there as well.
  9. Current Orleans County Derby Leaders: Grand Prize: 30 lb. 13 oz. Salmon: 30 lb. 6 oz...(5th place - 27 lb.) Rainbow: 15 lb. 11 oz...(5th place - 13 lb. 14 oz.) Brown Trout: 15 lb. 5 oz...(5th place - 14 lb. 3 oz.) Lake Trout: 13 lb. 15 oz...(5th place - 9 lb. 8 oz.) Nice to see some fish from Sandy still on the board. Jeremy Miller is still in first place and some fish caught on "SilverFox" last weekend are on the board as weel. Nice job guys!!
  10. Went out this AM on board "My Mink" with Jeremy and Don. Decided to make the run out deep again- about 11 miles. While setting up the second rod, the first rod fired. Was non-stop action for the first 2 hours; then died down. We quit around 9:30 AM and I think we were 12 for 15. Biggest king was around 20 lbs, biggest steelie was just under 10 lbs. It did not matter what we used- as long as it had green/yellow in it. NBK was by far the best run on the deep rigger. As of this AM, Jeremy's king is still in first place in the Orleans Derby. My fathers steelie went off the board yesturday. On another note, a few weeks ago, we were out and we happened to loose a nice king on the wire dipsey- due to a knot I tied pulling out. Since then- both Don and Jeremy have been busting my balls non-stop. It was really upset to learn that they dropped a 30+ lb king right at the back of the boat yesturday- due to one of Don's knots pulling out. Too bad guys!! FYI- I now have 2 tubes of super-glue on board and I dab a touch on every re-tie of the 50 LB line on the flies and meat rigs. Good luck to all this week
  11. Went out this AM and decided to make the run way north. After looking at some freighters up close and the shore line of Canada- we fished from about the 30-32 north lines. Ended up 9 for 11. Biggest was only about 20 lbs and we did catch a real nice steelie- just under 13lbs. Thought for sure it would make the leaderboard- but no go. Lots of fish were being caught from 40 fow all the way to 580 fow and everywhere in-between. Every boat had fish, mostly kings and bows. I did hear of some big browns and lakers caught in the shallower water. We will have to see if the leaderboard changes again.
  12. Attempted to fish Thursday in the AM. Went out in 4-6 footers out of the north east. Impossible to troll in any direction other then with them- at 2.9 on probe. The cooler water and bait has moved back in, however it was really slow. We went 0 for 2 in the two hours we fished. In 100 fow- surface temp was 82 degrees, I had 49 degrees down 75 feet and 65 degrees down 60 feet. All my marks- both fish and bait were in the bottom 20 feet of the water column. Good luck to all this weekend. Planning on fishing both Sat and Sun Foster
  13. No pics this time. By the time we got home, it was dark and pouring. FYI for anyone else from Sandy or the Genesee fishing the Orleans derby. Give yourself enough time to drive to Oak Orchard to wiegh in. At 7:30 PM tonight- East Fork Marina was closed- we made it to the Oak with 5 minutes before closing.
  14. Went out for a quick evening trip. Ended up 1 for 1- nice steelie caught by my father- currently 2nd in the Orleans Derby 11 lbs, 11 ounces There was a TON of bait between 60 and 100 fow with marks everywhere. Temp has moved back in as well- but the fishing is still really tough. My wife is really happy to have this 2nd fish taking up space in her big freezer. Good luck to all! Foster
  15. Tom- Very true! We are going out again this evening. I will report when we get back
  16. I would not EVER fish without it. It is as necessary as bringing rods and tackle. Besides speed changes- how about temp changes??? from one day to the next, the down temp can change by more then 20 degrees. YOU MUST HAVE IT to consistanly catch fish!!
  17. I made a mistake it was 30 lbs 13 ounces not 31.3 Tank- if you want- just back straight out of your dock. Don and Jeremy's boat is right behind yours- the white/green Pursuit. You can "rub" up against it if you want!! Good luck! Foster
  18. Went out this AM with LOU member- Silverbullet- Jeremy Miller and his father- Don. It was a slow day all around. Only heard of a few fish being caught. Jeremy was lucky enough to grab the rod and caught a real nice king. I think it is currently 1st in the Orleans Derby- weighs just under 32 lbs. They say that posession is 9/10 of the law. Since this fish currently is in MY freezer and was caught on my boat; I quess it would be MY fish. Good luck getting it back!! Congrats Jeremy!
  19. Illegal to use unless it was packaged and stamped Treated for VHS. I do not know if anyone has the new stuff in stock yet
  20. Yes- Using them in front of the river- pulling all j-plugs works great for big salmon. The problem is the other 200 boats doing the same thing all within 1/2 mile of eachother.
  21. Does anyone know the new DEC Regualtions to be able to answer this question. 1- Is it legal to use cut-meat that has been frozen- as long as it is heavily salted prior to use? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks!!
  22. after last weekend- I switched all rods to 30 lb flee flicker- about 100 yeards per rod with my usual 17 lb trilene as the backer. So far- it was been great!
  23. We did ok- but not great. In the last two weeks, the bigger kings we have been cathching have been way out of temp. I think they are hanging in shallow- feeding on bait. We have been hitting them in 55-65 degree water; and they are really dark for this time of year. Good luck!
  24. Tank Just my humble opinion- BUT Deep was BAD on Sat. If the fish are in less then 100 FOW- try it first before you go out deep
  25. Pat great to hear that you did well. The PM bite has been really great for us recently. Hopefully it will stay good so we can put some fish on the board for the Orleans County Derby next week. Foster
