  1. for late fall kings- J-Plugs at 2.5 to 3.0 MPH are the best lure made!!! I would never troll slower then 2.5 while pulling j-plugs. Size 4 j-plug will dive about 5 feet at 3 that speed- depending on size of line and leader.
  2. I am makiing one last trip wednesday night- then the boat comes out for the season.
  3. Pat I saw the boat in your driveway. Good timing- getting it out. I hit my prop last night. The water level is lower then I have ever seen it. When we were coming in, there were kings serfacing right off the mouth. I would assume they are making their way into the creek at night. See you soon Foster
  4. Hit the water at 6:30 PM and fished until dark- about 8:00 PM. 78 FOW was best- 20-50 down. Ended up 3 for 4- all nice dark salmon in the 20 lb range. Green mag spoons were best (3) and the meat rig took one of the fish. Down temp was 51 degrees, with a wicked west to east current. Good luck!! Foster
  5. a few years ago, there was a big fire in Canada. Residents in Sodus Point kept calling in seeing it on the horizon- thinking it was a boat on fire. Wonder what it was???
  6. Made a double trip today- a few hours in the AM and a few in the PM. Total numbers were 8 nice kings and 2 nice coho. All the kings were in the 19-25 LB range, the cohos were about 10 lbs. Strange day on the lake. It was very sunny and the wind changed directions 4 times. Most fish came way out of temp. Ended the night with a double- including a 20 lb king that was snagged in the back. It took about 25 minutes to get it in- by then- time to quit. Good luck to everyone this weekend.
  7. Here is the PM report- went back out at 4:00 PM and fished the same areas as the AM. Ended up with 4 more big kings- ranging from 18 to 26 lbs; including one that was 45 inches long. Hit another low teens coho and broke off another large king. Here are the day totals: 10 large kings all high teens/low to mid 20s. 2 coho- both around 10 lbs. 4 small kings Best part is we only ran a 4 rod spread- and every rigger fired alot. All in all- it was the best day we have had on the lake in a really long time. One of the guys that was on the boat is going to smoke a bunch of the fillets and his father wanted the skins for his taxedermy business. I took a bunch of pics and will get them posted in a few days. We will be out both AM and PM until the derby ends. Good luck to you all!!!
  8. Went out this AM- to fish the inside waters with a few friends from high school. Ended up 9 for 12. 6 big kings, 1 nice coho and 2 jacks. The kings ranged from 17 to 27 lbs. Lost one really nice king in the mid 20s after it jumped about 5 times- right out of the water behind the boat. I have never seen a big king jump like that- it ended up wrapping the line around its body and broke off. Really great morning on the water- we will be back out tonight
  9. Bob- I have spoken to a numberof guys that were out this AM with similar results. I think that big full moon last night allowed the fish to eat alot during the night- hense the slow bite this AM. Good Luck! Foster
  10. We went out last night- from about 5-7:30. Ended up 3 for 6- 2 nice kings 19lbs and 23 lbs- then one smaller one. Temp was still really deep but the current was better. Foster
  11. This happened to me too- when I bought my new probe= I put a small amount of expoxy on both sides of the wheel connections
  12. Went out this AM to find the warm water had moved back in. Due to the extreme currents and wind direction, we set up in 120 fow and trolled east. Ended up 8 for 12 all kings- but nothing big enough to make the leaderboard. All hits came on riggers were down 118 and 110. Ended up off of the lighthouse and ran back to the dock by 10:30 AM.
  13. Rob- we did the exact same thing last night- tried in shallow- then made the run. Similar results- I think we were 8 for 11. We did some really big cohos out there- but no fish over 20 lbs. Spoon program only Foster
  14. north- really, really far north. If it was not so foggy, we would have made the run out to about 400-500
  15. Really nice fish!!!!! That is why I never fish past 7:30 PM during the derbies.
  16. come out to Sandy Creek. You can dock for between $20 and $40 per foot depending on which Marina you choose. A buch of us are at Sandy Creek Marina and are VERY happy with the personal service we get from the owner. It takes less then 20 minutes to get to Sandy from the rivergoing down the parkway.
  17. He was not there (I have no idea why). We ended up calling Narbeys and told them we were on the way. Sharon called Dave Chilsen at the LOC to get permission to weigh it in after 8:00 PM. After a quick flight down the parkway, we arrived just before 8:00. I think we made it there in about 15 minutes from Hamlin.
  18. I had the pleasure of taking Jeremy Miller out on my boat again tonight. We hit the water at 6:00 PM to find a WARM 49 degree surface temp- in 10 fow. We headed north and fished all the way out to about 150 FOW. 49 degrees on the surface, 41 degrees down 10 feet. After about an hour, we headed into 8 FOW- not a typo. We fished 2 rods on a board and fished 2 down about 5 feet. About 7:25 PM we had 2 hit and misses. It was about a 15 LB seagull on a NBK, down 2 feet- 100 foot lead. We could not remember what the minimum LOC weight was for a seagul- so we decided to head back to the dock. While I was clearing rods, I was surprised to be almost thrown into the water as Jeremy pushed me out of the way to grab one of the surface lines. After coming off the big win for the Orleans Derby- you would think that he would do the right thing and allow someone else to catch a fish- but not tonight. Turned out to be the current leading brown in the LOC- 13 lbs 4 ounces. It actually hit a brwon trout imitation rapala- run back 150 feet on the surface in 8 feet of water. I am just kidding about him pushing me out of the way- my back was to the rod when it fired
  19. Brian We are going to try to get out tonight- I will post the temps when I get home Foster
  20. Pat- She has placed fish in other derbies as well right?? Foster
  21. Lots of fish from Sandy made the leaderboard. I know there were a few fish from Rebel Charters, Persistance, Silver Fox and at least one or two more. I think John said there were 6 fish of the 21 wining fish that were caught at Sandy.
