  1. Taking the boat to Fair Haven for the long weekend. Do you guys sit on any particular channel? Good luck in the final few days. Looks like good weather. Mike. Boat is the "Firebiz"
  2. How many feet of water were you in? I'll be up there for the weekend. Call sign is Firebiz
  3. It is made by Sutton spoons in Naples. It is a spinner wit about a 4" looped wire behind it with a split double hook. You take the hook off, Push the wire in the minnows mouth and out the butt. Put the hook back on. The spinner is right in front of it's face. I've used it with shiners and mooneyes. I've caught some real nice fish on it. Like I said, the smallies will bend it up.
  4. I stumbled upon the "Hemlock Spinner" this spring. Anybody been pulling them? I've had great luck with em so far. Smallmouths will bend em up, but the trout seem to like the live minnow scent. Got them at Sutton in Naples.
  5. You do have a lot of equipment on that canoe pal! I fish Hemlock mainly, but I think I'll take a trip up and see you guys. I think it's the no fly rods that the Subaru peeps don't like!
  6. I don't have down temp yet. Just tried to cover the top 40 ft. with what I had. I didn't see that big brown on the leader board. Wonder what happened??? I might get out again Sat. for the Fair Haven Challenge or out of the river on Monday. That launch is terrible!
  7. Fished off of Bradocks Bay this morning. Got out about 7am. Top water temp was 48 degrees! Tried out in 150 to 200 with no hits. Went in and got a 15lb. king in 115 fow down 30 on an orange crush. Ended up with2 more just over 20. They came out of 65 -75 fow down 30 again. Blue Flasher/ bl. fly. One nice steely on the crush also. Heard a young kid got a big brown that should be leading by a mile. Way to go.
  8. They get pretty active around the outside of the weeds this time of year. I like big Rapala baits, but the big rubber swim baits work good too. The big ones will always come on big live bait, but you can have alot of fun casting lures.
  9. My bass fisherman buddy says he can't keep em off. Late August and Sept is the time to go!
  10. The pike are starting to hit pretty good on Conesus. the big ones come in from the open water this time of year. There's big pike and even a tiger musky here and there. Conesus is probably your best bet for a big 15+ lb. pike.
  11. Fish out of Fair Haven, and if the lake is bad, fish in the bay.
  12. We'll give it another try on Wed. Try the North West corner down to Mission pt. I stay in 30 to 60 ft. Look for the schools of bait. Love that lake.
  13. We got out about 7 a.m. Fished mostly the North West side. Trolled in about 50 feet, down 40 up to about 25. Picked up a nice brown at 25 ft. on a sutton spoon, a laker at 40 on a yellow stick bait, 2 nice small mouths down at 27 on a chatruse Rapala. Showed quite a bit of bait in that area also. Boat launch is pretty bad this year.
  14. I'm having trouble getting info. on the Challenge. Is there an easier way to get it other than on Spoon Pullers?
  15. Any suggestions on a rod for running wire with a dipsey? Rollers? Eyes with a Twilly tip?
  16. I appreciate it. I'm not totally rigged up yet, but I'll let you know how it goes.
  17. I'm taking the boat to Fair Haven for a few days. I want to get my nephews out for a few hours of trolling. I'm usually out of the river, can you suggest some depths, colors etc. so I can pick them up a few fish? Thanks
  18. Yup. The surface weeds have been a pain. Not sure what is cutting them off, but there are big bunches floating. I'm going down on Monday afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes.
  19. They are the thick clouds of bait you see on your fish finder. Sometimes they are so thick the rods will twitch from the line running through them. Most times there will be fish feeding around them or down wind from them.
  20. I've been trolling and bass fishing on Hemlock for over 10 years. I've only gotten 1 walleye and he was 11 pounds. Not many there me thinks.
  21. I've dragged shiners on the bottom for Lakers with some success. One 11 pounder even. I usually troll with 2 downriggers. Sutton spoons, Chrocodiles, green or yellow stick baits, or just silver anything. I set my lines from 40 ft. to 25 ft. You can see about where the therm. is by the fish marks on the finder. Sometimes the therm. even shows up on it. See you there. I have a white and red Smoker Craft. Mike
  22. The dock master at The Beachcomber Rest. on Conesus Lake just got one. It is very cool. He will tell you all that you need to know. Stop in and see him. His name is Ron.
